 Have you ever dreamt about one of your stories being adapted into manga? Thought of the perfect plot, but weren't sure how to get published? MyAnimeList collaborated with Honeyfeed to help aspiring overseas novelists realize that dream—and debut with their very own manga in Japan. Writers had two short months to write the first volumes for their web novels. Our judges then narrowed down all eligible novels and the community voted for the best three. Here are the winners:
Congratulations! The contest will be returning in 2022 with some modifications based on your feedback. While the details are still being worked out, the committee is confident on one point: web novels written before the contest is announced should still be eligible for submission. | Tch, mediocre. I recall the creator of Realm Assassin drummed up votes by sending the followers of some shitty Instagram anime "meme" page to make MAL accounts and vote for it. To think it actually worked. Can't wait to see how the eventual manga flops, if it ever sees light. |

I had friends who helped me promote my work on Instagram on their Instagram stories and word of mouth but I, the creator, have only posted my slides on my page, not on someone else’s page let alone a meme? If it was a friend who did it then I don’t really have any control of that ^^;; Mind you I never forced anyone to vote for me either, so it’s likely a friend/friends?? Regardless, thanks for bringing this to light. <3 I’ll reach out to my friends about it! |

| Quick question about submitting stories. @Kineta If I were to stop my story on a cliffhanger, meeting all the requirements for word count and whatnot, would it be possible to submit my story up to that certain chapter and continue the story afterwards, which won't be part of the competition nor judged? Like how the description says "to write the first volumes for their web novels."? (implying we can write more than one?) I'm currently writing a series that will definitely exceed the limits for what's allowed (word count), but I'd like to continue after submitting as I've already laid out the works for what the story will entail. And if the next comp doesn't start until later next year, I'll definitely be past the point where I would want to submit the story. |
