I'm planning on seeing this movie with some friends of mine who are a bit more on the casual side of anime fans and haven't watched or read JJK yet. I watched the anime and am waiting to read Volume 0 because finding a copy of it anywhere is near impossible so I know almost nothing about this movie. Will my friends still like this movie if they haven't seen the series and will they miss anything major from not watching/reading the series?

As much as I remember from what I read from volume 0, there isn't actually much to miss if you didn't watch the series, and it takes place before yuuji, megumi and nobara become jujutsu sorcerers. Its got a lot of action and Mappa's fight choreography is amazing. So your friends would enjoy it if they just care about having some fun time together. Just pirate volume 0 if you can't buy it due it not being available.

you can watch it without seeing the series prior. this is technically a prequel and was actually written before the main series. some things might need to be explained a bit, but it’s just minor things

The movie comes out in like more than a month, plenty of time to watch the show, I’d assume it’ll be a better experience if you watched the show.

As I have read the volume (and basically everything jjk related) they won’t miss a thing.

Due to it being a prequel, I think its probably okay for them to watch it without prior knowledge. However, I think it is likely you will probably enjoy it more due to having connected with some of the characters and having understood the rules and context, whereas they will probably enjoy it, but not to the extent you did due to being completely unfamiliar with the series.

The movie isn't going to be out until next month (and even longer for an international release) so there should be time for your friends to watch the show before the movie.

This is a prequel to the Jujutsu anime so you shouldn't be confused or anything

you can even watch this as a standalone story if you want thats how self-contained the story of this prequel is

I think its fine to watch the movie without seeing the first season prior because you dont need much context and I think watching the first season after this movie would be kinda amazing cuz they continue the story with the characters "introduced" in the movie so its kinda like a reward

see that's what would happen in a perfect world but they're instead insisting on using this as a gauge to tell if they want to get into the series or not

I see no problem with watching the movie first. It would be refreshing to start from here since you'll go to the anime knowing more about Geto and the Parade of the Thousand Demons that are thrown at you in the story with barely any context.

Yes, it's not a sequel in the first place so your friends will understand it.

If they decide to adapt volume 0 just as it was then yes definitely you can watch it with ppl who have never seen the 1st season.
