TMS Entertainment opened an official website for a new anime series based on Monkey Punch's Lupin III manga on Wednesday, revealing the main staff, a teaser visual (pictured), and a promotional video. The sixth part, commemorating the 50th anniversary of the anime series, will premiere on NTV and other stations in October 2021.

Staff
Director: Eiji Suganuma (Karneval (TV), Lupin III: Prison of the Past)
Series Composition: Takahiro Ookura (Detective Conan Movie: The Fist of Blue Sapphire script)
Character Design: Hirotaka Marufuji (Jitsu wa Watashi wa, Lupin III: Goodbye Partner)
Music: Yuji Oono (Lupin III)

Synopsis
His name is Lupin III. He is a gentleman thief whose grandfather was the renowned phantom thief Arsène Lupin.

When it comes to the art of thievery, there is nothing Lupin III cannot steal; whether it be jewels, works of art, hidden treasures, the secret to immortality, or the heart of a pretty girl.

Lupin’s partners are Daisuke Jigen, a great gunman; Goemon Ishikawa, a master swordsman; Fujiko Mine, a devilishly clever femme fatale. There is Inspector Zenigata, a relentless ICPO officer, consumed with an obsessive desire to apprehend the masterful thief. (Source: TMS Entertainment)

Monkey Punch published the original Lupin III manga between 1967 and 1972 in the Manga Action magazine. The manga spawned six television series, over ten theatrical releases, and 27 feature-length TV specials. The latest television anime in the series, Lupin III: Part 5, aired for 24 episodes from April to September in 2018.

Wow! 50 years...now that's a sign of a classic. Awesome news! Plus, Yuji Ohno is returning for the music, which is always a plus. Hopefully this is a two cour series like the last two, but even one is more than enough. The Toonami run though probably won't happen until late 2022. The teaser visual and teaser trailer are both fantastic.

Epic news, here's hoping the team involved understand Lupin's history as much as those who worked on part V.
“I just spent the last two years thinking that you guys knew more than me about life and I just found out that you guys are just as dumb as me.” “Duh-doy.” “Yeah, duh-doy.”

Fuck yeah, dude! Part 4 was great, and Part 5 was incredible. Lupin III is on fire, and I hope the streak keeps going strong!

"Anime was always influenced by the West. This is not news.
Shoujo is the superior genre primarily aimed at young people.
Harem/isekai are lazy genres that refuse any meaningful innovation.
There is no 'Golden Age.' There will always be top-shelf anime.
You should be watching Carole & Tuesday."

No telecom, and they're reusing the shitty TV special character designs...
Suganuma will probably just do a yes man job on the direction, meh.

I cannot wait for this. I love Lupin III. It has such fun characters and stories. I feel like the setting is in Britain due to the police cars on the PV.

Yesterday my heart skipped a beat when I saw that this was announced. Since I had been thinking after rewatchin part 5 with my mate that when will Lupin III part 6 arrive and now it is here

I'd hoped that they'd stick to the aesthetic of part 5/the woman called fujiko mine but lupin is always welcome.

Judging from the trailer it looks like it is set in Britain which looks like a lot of fun.

VERY excited about this, I was wondering whether they'd do something special for the anime's 50th anniversary. It's not the same director as Part 4 and 5 but for now I'll remain optimistic.

Awesome, it's great to see this franchise still going strong! The extra motivation to stop procrastinating with Part 5 is also appreciated.

When I heard this news I was so excited! Part V was so far my favorite, being phenomenal from start to finish. I was on my seat throughout, I'm excited even with the prospect of a more serious Lupin. When they put their minds to it, there's some really great stories that are put out.

I can always use some more Lupin, but now I have to decide if I watch the sub or wait until late 2022 for the Part 6 to make its way to Toonami.

Both is always an option, haha. I think I waited for the last two seasons, but now that I am much bigger Lupin fan, it may be harder to hold myself back. I very likely might just do both.

Yeah, I might do both, but I have a feeling that Fall 2022 is going to be stacked this year. I didn't get into Lupin until Part 4 came on Toonami and I've been a fan ever since. Hopefully we will get to see Lupin wearing the Red jacket again since they are going for a much darker take on Lupin's story.

True. Though Golgo 13 unfortunately doesn't have nearly as rich of an anime presence that Lupin III has, which is a pity, since the three Golgo 13 anime adaptations that have been made are all outstanding.

I personally want more of Lupin that comes from Takeshi Koike, but another sequel of typical Lupin is not bad.

Just an update, Sentai Filmworks has licensed this season, so that probably means no Toonami run and might also mean a different English voice cast. A little disappointing to be honest if that turns out to be true.

Damn. That sucks because I liked the English voice cast for Part 4, 5, and Lupin: The First movie. I guess I have to go with the sub version for now and hope that the English dub for Part 6 finds its way to Netflix instead of being stuck on HiDive.
