 Publishing company Kadokawa announced on Friday that Daisuke Aizawa's Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! (The Eminence in Shadow) light novel is being adapted into a television anime.Synopsis Great heroes and diabolical villains are the types of characters that people long to be—but not Cid Kagenou. He longs to become the true mastermind behind it all, pulling the strings, and having his machinations drive the entire story. In his previous life in modern-day Japan, he was not able to achieve his goals. But now, reborn into a world of magic, he will show the true eminence of shadow! As Cid pretends to be just another average mob character, he recruits members to his (fake) organization Shadow Garden, aiming to take down the mysterious cult who lurks in the shadows. With plenty of ad-libs, Cid leads his (fake) organization against the foul (yet surprisingly real) Diabolos Cult. [Written by MAL Rewrite] Aizawa launched the comedy fantasy novel on the Shousetsuka ni Narou website in May 2018. Kadokawa began publishing the series through its Enterbrain label with illustrations by Touzai in November that year and released the fourth volume on Friday. Kage no Jitsuryokusha ni Naritakute! has a cumulative 1 million copies of its volume in circulation. Anri Sakano (Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai kara Kuru Sou desu yo? Z) launched a manga adaptation in Monthly Comp Ace in December 2018. The magazine also began serializing a spin-off by Seta U in July 2019. Kadokawa shipped the fifth and second volume of each manga on Friday, respectively. Yen Press licensed the light novel and manga adaptation in English in May 2019 and January 20 and published the second novel volume on November 10 last year. | For those who don't know what type of series this is based off of the synopsis, the whole premise is about a chunnibyou who gets isekai'd and is acting out his chunnibyou fantasies in the new world. The MC thinks he's simply playing out his chunnibyou fantasies of having a secret organization go against other evil organizations, thinking that everything is fake and everyone's just playing along with him. In reality, his fantasies are completely real, and it's only the MC who's oblivious to everything going around him. The first volume of the LN was quite funny. I haven't read anything past that, but I'm not sure how long the series can keep up with its premise without getting old quickly. Regardless, I'm excited for the anime. Hopefully the MC gets a seiyuu that really brings the most out of the character. |

If so also very much not the focus. I think it had one hot spring scene in the manga so far and other than that nothing that comes to mind. 3. Not that I can remember. I usually hate over the top gore so I feel like I would remember if it did. It's primarily a satirical comedy, imo. It has a decent overarching story and character story arches that are honestly usually pretty well written. It's just that interspersed in all of that is a heavy dose of humor. |

| Finally a isekai I actually wish to see on the screen. It's VERY ridiculous, but the right way of ridiculous. And nice pastiche chuuni humor aside, the fights are legit decent. Still wish for Eris no Seihai adaptation one day. Some of them get arcs more focused on them, ofc. First girl to join the harem (brocon sister aside...) would be the devoted swordswoman Alpha, but that blonde elf does not feel that MUCH more relevant in the plot than Princess Alexia or Beta, for example. |

| I found this way more funnier than Konosuba. The MC is complete delusional and supporting characters ranging from clueless idiots to complete trash, and somehow everything just works. One of the best Isekai around. |

The relationship he has with these girls are more like the relationship Ainz have with his Nazarick NPCs. The girls look up to him too much and think everything he says is true. On the other hand, he's the only one who doesn't believe in anything he says. And that's where the comedy comes from. |
