There were maybe 2 2D cuts obvious ones, but other than that, the action is mostly cg. I just want more 2D Eren especially with new 2D design, cause why not?

I felt like Jaw Titan was 2d in half of the action scenes in episode 7
No man not really, its just the detailed design tbh. The only 2D cuts were his eye close up of when he was absolutely traumatised by Eren, and th other is when eren stuffs Lara's shell in his mouth. The same with AT really, the face design however gives away that he is cg, but it did have like 2 2D cuts, especially with Eye movement.

I do not think Attack Titan will be 2d but I hope they fix his face like how they fixed Beast Titan's face
Tbh its same with almost every titan this ep, they have they're fair share

i recently happen to read this argument and it applies to the whole Anime Industry as a capitalist or business, the same mistake of mediocre adaptation and overworking of their staff will happen if fans blindly praise this people especially the executives or upper management of MAPPA and the production committee

do you agree? but ye never harass the ordinary workers or staff of MAPPA and any other studios for that matter since ultimately they do not have the final decisions on big decisions its always the upper management or executives that have those

Yep. I don't get how people are harassing the staff and people on the other side are protecting the management.

Normally I am confident in my skill of differenciate the CGI moves
But MAPPA's skill in CGI makes it really hard for me
Ex : The scene where he was running on the roodtop just before he got punched in the face by Eren was like 2d (15:45)
If it was CGI then I have 0 doubts for the titan fight scenes in Paradise
That scenes will be 10/10 if they fix Attack Titan's face

True True.

In many ways their cg can be great, and the 2D can be greater its such a shame

Aot is a horror for 2d animators tbh
Titans are too detailed so moving them in 2d takes too much effort and time
And this season has 6 different titans in action scenes
Even the studio that has best 2d animators in the anime industry would need at least 2.5 years for this 16 episodes
Just remember episode 2 of season 3 part 2
Animations for Armored vs Attack was a disaster and they had inconsistent drawings
Attack on Titan : The Final Season 2D is just a mere dream if you are not a billionaire and has money to waste on creating a studio, hiring best animators, and buying Aot's whole rights for making a remake

I honestly don't get why people defend Mappa. I mean, cmon, just because they took up on it? The whole reason why Wit is not doing it, is because they knew how unreasonable the time conditions were. If they didn't accept it we would get this season probably 2-4 years later, but at least in good condition and I think it would be worth waiting. I just hope that they will fix this mess in BluRay edition.

In the end it all comes down to money and the production company/committee decided that this would be the most profitable way to do this season. Taking 2 or 3 times longer to produce it won't double or triple the profits so "good enough" adaptation is what the companies go for as sad as it is. WIT probably thought it to be completely impossible while MAPPA decided to give it a shot at least (and I really think their management is taking on way too many projects lately).

Yeah, sadly it's all about money. But too be honest the cgi wasn't as awful as before in the newest episode except for a few moments (The one, where camera was moving a lot felt like a weird ps2 cutscene, lmao). What is more lacking is the sound factor. There are no impact to the scenes, they just feel blank.

I don`t want to talk about MAPPA, but who said WIT isn't doing it just because of the Schedule? In the producers` Interview in October they said that WIT reaches the point of the story that they felt it`s time to focus on investing in increase the Studio value "by making original animes cause it`s more profitable than other Animes", and that`s what we actually see in real, WIT 2020-2021 have 3 Original animes "Great pretender - 23 EPs -, Vampire in the Garden, Vivy: Fluorite Eye's Song", take into consideration original animes take about 3-4 years into preparation "preproduction and production", so they have in their minds that they won`t complete AOT from day one.

I mean in a away since they had it lined up, they wouldn't be able to do AOT in that time either ways, I mean even if they had a relatively lower anime lined up, like 2019 the only other anime I know of made by them was Vinland saga

This. I don't get when people say we won't get sakuga moments this season. When we have been arguably getting great sakuga moments in all action episodes. (3 till now).
I just hate this mentality that if its not 2d, it can't be Sakuga.

because reiners "half transformed" Titan, he will be full 2d just like armins CT, he appears for only 1 minute. Thundry who has worked on the titans since season 1 and his director sunmeng are working on this episode and are still working.
- sakuga of ep 8,9 started 6 months ago

and another info: I asked the superanimator kameda on twitter if he worked or is working on the final season, he answered me with "Im currently working on another peace, so its hard to participate on AoT, sorry:(" seems he only made a cut for the trailer and op but maybe lets hope for another cut or imai to appear for the forrest fight, we still havent seen vercreeds cuts tho

- from the 2 pictures we can see they are improving and improving, ep7 cgi was far better than ep6 (titans), more 2d cuts are realistic for paradise arc and the cgi only gets better

They decided to drop AoT during S3 production so it's more than likely the decision was made before 2019 and early 2019 at worst.

Original anime preproduction is generally a year or so where tf did you get your 3/4 year figure from

Surprised so many people are defending the 3d and saying that it's better than 2d. I don't get it, the 2d titan fight scenes were probably the best part of the show. There's occasionally some decent hand drawn scenes in season 4 but when contrasted with the very jarring and noticeable CGI titans it just doesn't look right. I have never seen 3d CGI in an anime and been like "hey that's better than if they drew it". It just always looks like video game sprites.

I don't think it's as much of an art style as an attempt to make anime cheaper to produce and if you like the CGI so much, would you rather the entire show and every character be CGI?

"mess", jesus christ what an absurd over-reaction to what so far has actually been some really great work coming from Mappa. Studio WIT are one of the most prestige animation studios out there, there are less than a handful of studios that can match or exceed the quality of their work. Its saying something when a studio of that level dropped the show for its final season.

Just because Mappa can't deliver that calibre in the absurdly short time-frame they were given does not justify you calling it a "mess". Get a grip dude. The time and effort this studio is putting into this finale(even to this day) is unequivocally deserving of our respect.

I sincerely think that Ep7 looked amazing, the CGI of Monke was pretty good, the CGI of the cart and the Jaw is amazing, but Eren looks bad, I hope they fix him.

The only thing missing compared to the best of Wit was an Imai sakuga sequence, but I'll be pretty happy is the upcoming fights have this quality.

i recently happen to read this argument and it applies to the whole Anime Industry as a capitalist or business, the same mistake of mediocre adaptation and overworking of their staff will happen if fans blindly praise this people especially the executives or upper management of MAPPA and the production committee

do you agree? but ye never harass the ordinary workers or staff of MAPPA and any other studios for that matter since ultimately they do not have the final decisions on big decisions its always the upper management or executives that have those

I mean you are right that we should not overwork the staff and give them good pays, but there is practically nothing we can do about it as fans. In a world where the money is prioritized over everything else, those practices will never come to fruition, which is really sad. Still, these staff put their blood sweat, and tears into their work, and that is something that I will praise them no matter what.

Would have liked that we ended with some sakuga for the series' final season but now that's impossible. Thanks production committee.

Ep 3- http://sakugabooru.com/post/show/139962
Ep 6- http://sakugabooru.com/post/show/142485 (FX included)
Ep 6- http://sakugabooru.com/post/show/142487
Ep 7- http://sakugabooru.com/post/show/143271

Ep 6 & 7 has more, another notable one from ep 7 is when jean was dodging the bullets.

Guys the CGI is not that bad. Try comparing CGI with other anime. For example look at black clover CGI and Berserk. They are far worse. Even ex arm which is airing this season. This studio is giving a good CGI. I don't know why people think when CGI is noticeable then it is bad. CGI will be noticed coz we are seeing a 3 dimensional body in a 2 dimensional world. Obviously we can notice. Some fans are saying to learn from ufotable but there are so many scenes where I noticed the CGI used even in demon slayer. The new movie of demon slayer has noticeable CGI. That doesn't mean bad. I am not saying this CGI is perfect. Yes there are lot of scenes in the recent episodes where it was weird but it is good. I wish it was 2d but they are trying their best to give a good 3d. Chill out

Cleaning up one frame in AOT took 3 times the amount it takes me to do a frame in any other anime, worth it though https://twitter.com/zeido__/status/1355934880912318468

this is the animators work https://twitter.com/zeido__/status/1355934530570489860

i think i found why mecha is more 3DCG now a days because the black suits of the scouts is like a mecha

----------------------------------------

The poor corrections I saw prior to the series starting were in this episode. The really bad one was redrawn, but amusingly, it turned out they were just small background characters anyway. Glad it doesn't seem like that kinda melt will make it to the screen. https://twitter.com/AnimeAjay/status/1355934696258076675
