THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
I have no problem with the Captain being an CIA agent for money that's fine. But what was the absolute fucking point of making him beat and forcible stripping off her god damn cloths. I've not forgotten that she was a mobster who had the main cast kidnapped more than once, I don't have a problem of him beating her for keep trying to kill them, as pay back. But why does the show suddenly feel the need to be so graphic. For whatever reason he was seeming trying to get an reaction out of Rod Balboa character. If so why doe he care or even now anything about there relationship? I know I'm coming off as very outraged but I'm more put off by how out of left that character change was, as the Captain up till this point was your no nonsense bad ass and out of no where acting as vindictive woman beater with no build up. It just jarring.

I agree it was pretty excessive and gratuitous, usually you threaten doing something like that so they don't come in but he almost seemed to be taunting Rod to come in. I mean I guess it proved Rod cared more about Lynx than the island and she cared more about what was important to him than herself by taking that abuse, but still. And it wasn't even the nudity, they could have snuck that in anywhere but just the no holding back wailing on her.
Also they had been trying to kill him repeatedly why did he think they wouldn't just put a bullet in his head when he gave himself up? They had no use for him or a reason to keep him around, why not keep her hostage until he could steal a plane? I realize they needed him to stick around so he could talk to Yuu but once he revealed himself and got paid he realistically should have just bolted.
The fact that any of them stayed when they could have all left didn't really make any sense.

So it took 22 episode to show the Skipper was gonna turn traitor, that we all knew anyway.
That was a long wait.
