 The stage greeting event commemorating the release of the Made in Abyss: Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei (Made in Abyss: Dawn of the Deep Soul) anime film announced a sequel for the series on Saturday. The official website also revealed an image board (pictured above) and an announcement promo.  Voice actresses Miyu Tomita (Riko), Mariya Ise (Regu), Shiori Izawa (Nanachi), and Inori Minase (Prushka) attended the event at the EJ Anime Theater in Shinjuku.Made in Abyss adapts Akihito Tsukushi's adventure fantasy manga of the same title, which began its serialization in the Web Comic Gamma website in October 2012. Takeshobo published the eighth volume in May 2019. The first anime series produced by Kinema Citrus aired in 13 episodes in Summer 2017. Kadokawa released two compilation films—subtitled Tabidachi no Yoake (Journey's Dawn) and Hourou Suru Tasogare (Wandering Twilight)—on January 4 and 18 last year, respectively. The Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei sequel anime film opened in Japan on Friday (pictured right). Sentai Filmworks licensed the anime and streamed it on Amazon's now-defunct Anime Strike platform and HIDIVE. The company released the television series on Blu-ray and DVD in October 2018 and screened the compilation films in the U.S. theaters in March and May last year. Sentai Filmworks also acquired the Fukaki Tamashii no Reimei anime film in July 2019 and plans to premiere it this year. Seven Seas Entertainment licensed the manga in English in 2017 and shipped the seventh volume in September 2019. The eighth volume is planned for a March 31 release. The manga has also been published in multiple foreign languages, including Chinese, Mandarin, and Korean. Made in Abyss ranked among the top 20 titles in the male readers' division in the 2018 Kono Manga ga Sugoi! rankings and was nominated for the 11th Manga Taisho Awards. | ll marketing logic would indicate that the next sequel will be a movie, but there's absolutely nowhere in that disgustingly long arc that would cut satisfyingly enough into an ending (as opposed to the arc that just got adapted into a movie) and it seems to be shaping up perfectly to be just about the length of a full season. At any rate, Tsukushi has said that the first thing he thought when the first sequel was confirmed was that he needed to draw more chapters, and this is now more true than ever. |
| Yup, I was expecting this (more like praying for this to not get the sequel-less treatment) but boy nothing really beats confirmation! Really looking forward to this! I've heard the Movie takes a really gritty take on the setting much like the last episode of the tv series which really shook me to my core so can't wait to see what's next in store! |

There are 3.5 volumes of manga that hasn't been adapted yet, more than the 3.15 from season 1, or more or less the same give or take various details like the extra chapters. If anything, this seems to indicate that the arc is going to wrap up soon. Furthermore, if the previous sequel confirmation was any indication, it's going to take at least a year for this announcement to materialize, so there's more than enough time for new chapters, even by Tsukushi standards. |

| It'll probably take a while for the second season to come out, since the current manga arc needs to wrap up first (or else the season will have to awkwardly end off in the middle of the arc). And considering how long it takes for chapters to come out, it might take another year or two for the arc to conclude. |

| Well, that are some great news to start the day. I guess it's going to be another movie, since the current manga arc is not finished yet and that way they will give time to the author to finish the arc. I wonder at what point they are going to stop in case they go for that route, however. |

From what i have read up to know, the current arc is defintly reaching its climax but it will be awhile longer, my guess is that this new season will be out sometime in mid to late 2021 or even early 2022 as the movie just wrapped up and anime series takes about 3 to 4 years to produce, if this started when mia s1 already finished it should be out by right around than. Guess we will wait and see. We pretty much expected this would happen and it is now officially confirmed now it is just a waiting game. No need to rush as long as the quality is the same level as both the first season and the movie. |
