 DMM Pictures opened an official website for a television anime adaptation of Reiji Miyajima's Kanojo, Okarishimasu (I'd like to Borrow a Girlfriend) manga on Sunday. The anime series is scheduled for a July 2020 premiere.Synopsis Dumped by his girlfriend, emotionally shattered college student Kazuya Kinoshita attempts to appease the void in his heart through a rental girlfriend from a mobile app. At first, Chizuru Mizuhara seems to be the perfect girl with everything he could possibly ask for: great looks and a cute, caring personality. Upon seeing mixed opinions on her profile after their first date, and still tormented by his previous relationship, Kazuya believes that Chizuru is just playing around with the hearts of men and leaves her a negative rating. Angry at her client's disrespect towards her, Chizuru reveals her true nature: sassy and temperamental, the complete opposite of Kazuya's first impression. At that very moment, Kazuya receives news of his grandmother's collapse and is forced to bring Chizuru along with him to the hospital. | I have dropped the manga after reading 99 chapters because the MC is infuriating. Kazuya is below Raku's tier. That should tell you how abominable his character is. Good luck watching it. Not even amazing seiyuu cast nor incredible female characters can save a beta harem story when the MC of the story is like the MC of this series. @Bongo9911: This is a harem just like Nisekoi. It is not tagged properly. Why it is harem? The elements of a harem story is that you get rotation of female characters even if there is a main heroine/or a primary love triangle. People seem to confuse harem with non harem shows a lot. This is the same reason why Oregairu is not a harem. Iroha never becomes a part of a rotation. Her involvement in the story is sporadic compared to the two main heroines. This is also why AoButa is not a harem despite of having multiple girls having interactions with the MC in the story. Because there is no romance or continuation of romance (i.e. cut off midpoint or after a single arc) for the other girls. | i have been dropping this just a little while ago, because goddamn, the character is annoying, especially the girls. but i just want to pointing out, this character design showed up a character that doesn't become important until chapter 60. that alone smell disaster for me. look rushed af, or anime original rearrangement. |

| @Kuma: Maybe they are gonna make a complete revamp and make the characters, especially Kazuya a bit more tolerable? @_Ako_: You are quite accurate but you are over simplifying a rather complex story. This is a painful journey of tons of denials, over the top aggression, and ridiculous racy or doki doki situations surrounding the MC with multiple girls. Oh, and of course the home of "about to" moments. Definition: "About to" moments. About to moments are moments when something important is about to happen and you get a call from say a hospital, a person appearing out of know where, a truck comes out from the left field, etc. etc. This manga has plenty of those moments. It has gone beyond 100 chapters after all. The manga reaches its peak pretty early when the MC falls in love with the Main Heroine for real. It has gone downhill since. Okay. I think I have said enough. I wish everyone a good watch. My only advise will be to enjoy it as a comedy although it is meant to be taken seriously. :P @Nemesis16: I already defined harem with an example using Oregairu. Number of girls in a romantic interest doesn't make a story harem. It's the rotation of romantic interest's participation in the story telling that makes it. |

| Oh lol. This is the last thing I wanted to get an adaptation. I remember picking this up a long time ago, but it was horrible even for harem romcom standards. Kazuya singlehandedly embodies everything I find undesirable about a harem MC, enough that it's hard to separate how I feel about him and the series as a whole. Though it's not like the girls are defensible given their actions. It's a shame that several veteran seiyuu will be working on this project. |

| I've been starving for a good romance anime for quite some time now. And to think we're getting this on the same season as Oregairu S3? And also by a studio who has good track record, with Re:Life, Fruits Basket and especially Dr. Stone? I'm down for it. |
