Bolivian security forces opened fire on Indigenous protesters Friday in the city of Cochabamba in response to demonstrations against the right-wing regime that forced democratically-elected President Evo Morales to resign on Sunday.

"This is what a dictatorship looks like," said attorney and activist Eva Golinger in a tweet sharing images of police forces opening fire on protesters.

As Common Dreams reported, a mass demonstration movement against the unelected government of interim acting President Jeanine Añez spread across the country Friday. Protesters are demanding Añez step down and that Morales be restored to power.

The protesters in Cochabamba were majority Indigenous, according to reports. Many of the demonstrators in the city were coca growers.

"Footage emerging from Cochabamba, Bolivia shows the aftermath of a massacre of indigenous protesters carried out by coup soldiers and police," tweeted filmmaker Dan Cohen. "This will be ignored by western media."

Images and video from the protest and attack show the violence in explicit detail.

Where are you getting that from? Why would the US sanction a regime they reportedly helped put in place other than to try to save face and divert suspicion?

The US literally lives for this kind of stuff, what are you on about? lmao If there's potential benefit to the US or our allies they'd certainly get involved. Do they care about the actual "Oh the humanity!" of it all? Probably not, though some soldiers on the ground may feel this way. Would the outcome be good or worse for the country in question? Who knows. Would the US still try to stick their dick in it? Yeah.

Attempts to fight it would result in them being labeled a terror state, and freedom coming in to save them. I wouldn't be surprised.
They always need to collapse left wing governments because they want to keep the people poor, dependent, divided, and under the boot of the u.s.
My only optimism through such evil is the people seem to be starting to wake up to such nonsense, but this is also when all pretense of free speech will disappear.

I can see you

the other side of the story:

Añez, 52, a religious conservative, was second vice president of the Senate and became interim president of South America's poorest country Tuesday. So far, she seems to have the backing of the country's institutions, including the military and the police, and has been recognized by the U.S. government, as well as the United Kingdom, Brazil, Colombia and other conservative administrations in Latin America.
But despite the international recognition, she continues to face pressure at home from supporters of former President Evo Morales.
...
She also announced Thursday that Morales' socialist party MAS can participate in new presidential elections, but said Morales wouldn't be allowed to run again since he's barred from seeking a fourth consecutive term. His vice president, Alvaro Garcia, also won't be allowed to run for president.

Morales, Bolivia's first indigenous president, claimed to have won a fourth term in an Oct. 20 election. That sparked nationwide protests over fraud and an audit by the Organization of American States that found widespread irregularities. Morales resigned Sunday under pressure from the armed forces following massive protests.
...
Violent clashes between Morales loyalists and police in the capital, La Paz, erupted Wednesday and continued well into the night. There were also protesters in El Alto, a bastion of Morales.
A political veteran faces daunting obstacles
Añez, 52, is a religious conservative from the northeastern region of Beni, traditionally a stronghold of the opposition. An attorney and a former media executive, she began her political career in 2006 as a member of the constituent assembly. She was elected to the Senate in 2010 and re-elected in 2014.
The obstacles she now faces are immense.
"Her role is exclusively to do three things," said Eduardo Gamarra, a professor at Florida International University in Miami who has studied Bolivia extensively. Añez, Gamarra says, needs to remain in office despite the unrest, call for elections and reassemble the country's electoral tribunal.
"Problem is, she only has until Jan. 22nd. It's a huge task in two months," he said.

https://www.msn.com/en-us/news/world/bolivias-new-leader-jeanine-añez-chavez-faces-daunting-challenges/ar-BBWM1z8

TLDR:
according to this source:
Morales served for 3 consecutive terms, and after results showing he won the elections for a 4th term, there has been protests over rigged elections.
(winning the elections for 4 consecutive terms does seem suspicious)
he was president since way back in Jan 2006 and only backed down on Nov 2019 after protests.
that is over 13 years in power.
she has the backing of several countries, including the United States, UK and Brazil, according to the article.
also, as an interim president, she is expected to stay only until January, when new elections will take place.

as for media bias:

common dreams is left-leaning, and has an almost extreme left bias
https://mediabiasfactcheck.com/common-dreams/

msn news, by contrast, is center-left, closer to being unbiased.

take this however you will.

Lol don't post such garbage. How do people still fall for this?
He won because he was good for the people and the economy, and the court ruled term limits unconstitutional, and he accepted a redo of the election, but his opponents of course don't care about democracy really.
Imagine thinking the u.s and police state supporting something is a good thing.

People could watch this as a summary.

I can see you

It doesn't have to be as complex as a conspiracy. It can be due to misreading political climates and reporting information in a way that can confuse some people. Though conspiracy does sometimes take place in media but not always to the knowledge of the media themselves. Morales won the election fairly and he broke no laws in running for multiple terms. In the other thread on Bolivia I provided more links that highlight how the US may have been involved and evidence how Evo Morales did win for real.

I am low on data so can't watch the video and Chomsky is hard to listen to to begin with how he sounds and speaks. Don't have the focus ability to be reading a book like that either atm.

So a neoliberal with white characteristics got rid of a neoliberal with injun characteristics. And caused by a group that won the Nobel Peace Prize while supporting Klaus Barbie.

The reason for this and the military joining the protesters is the goal is to break Bolivia into two parts and this is supported by Bolivia’s natural gas industry, places like say India offered better deals than say China.

What makes you think Evo Morales is neoliberal? He sounds more like just a socdem. What group are you talking about?

https://web.archive.org/web/20141001035043/http://www.nuevacronica.com/politica/evo-morales-es-un-neoliberal-disfrazado-de-izquierdista/

The group behind all this is the Bolivian Socialist Falange which is an explicitly fascist political party that wants to create a resource-rich nation independent from the impoverished western highlands so all the brownskins starve to death. Wikileaks published a thing about how a guy who won a Nobel peace prize was in it while also hiding Klaus Barbie. And came in second place in the Bolivian presidential elections of 1956 and 1966 unlike the Nazi party that only got power and caused WW2 by a technicality so it's not a fringe group.

USA isn't causing it though, Trump is just letting all the skeletons in the closet out by his America First.

I will have to read a translation of that later. Not fluent so...

That doesn't explain how Bolivian Socialist Falange was involved. What did they do and what gave you that idea?

But there is evidence some Americans had some involvement. Not that I was suggesting every aspect was planned and executed by the US.

Well, if it was the other way (openly ultracapitalist pro-murican regime falling to tankie, or even edgy soccdem agitation), hawkish people (both, neolibs and neocons) would be blaming Muh Russia and asking for boots on the ground to fight the Red Menace, soooo...whatever.

the red menace era wasn't that long ago and it's effects can still be felt to this day.
