I have two favorite villains! Tyki from D.Gray-Man and Kougaiji from Saiyuki.

They both have a lot in common being that they have the social respect of their friends and family. It makes them feel more human than just a villain I guess instead of a bland, bloodthirsty no reason really behind sort of villain.

In fact, I like these villains more than any of the other characters in their respected series. It's crazy that someone can make a villain beat out all the other characters in their likeness. But I have crazy respect to the creators who can make a believable and fun villain.

Griffith. I hate Griffith with a burning passion. But I also love him with the same passion. He's a character that makes me feel so many things at the same time. He's an amazing character/villain/antagonist/whatever you want to classify him as.

Johan Liebert is more an antagonist than a straight up villain. But he's also amazing. He's a character that legitimately scares me, and I kept holding my breath during several of his scenes. At the same time, I get drawn in by his charisma, and sometimes I forget what a monster he really is. He is fascinating throughout the entire series.

Honourable mentions in no particular order:
Yoshikage Kira
Makishima Shougo
Rezo the Red Priest
Satan
Makoto Shishio
Legato Bluesummers

I really can't say that Light is the villain either. I mean, is Dexter the villain of 'Dexter'?

They're the antihero. Main character but morally questionable or just plain evil.

If you end up liking Bleach, I'm pretty sure you will like him :). I'd even dare to say, without spoiling, that he's kinda, tho a bit far-fetched, similar to Pain from Naruto in some respect.

If that it is true then I will most definitely like him :D

He gave me the shivers with that smile. From momemt one you knew he was definitely not a good guy but you just keep hoping you're wrong.

Many people has mentioned Kira from JoJo. And while I consider him a solid villain overall, I'll have to give a shout-out to Pucci from Stone Ocean, whom I consider the 2nd best villain from the series. He's probably the most sympathetic antagonist of the manga, with an understandable and selfless goal with the well-being of humankind in mind, who makes him contrast with the villains from previous Parts, who were selfish and whose goals were of personal achievement, while also being ruthless and cruel in his methods, to remind the audience that he is the bad guy all along. It helps he is a competent villain, and that he is a badass, cool man of faith, characters whom I love a lot.

Other antagonist I like who I think are worth mentioning are:

-Amshel and Diva from Blood+
-Bondrewd from Made in Abyss
-The Earl and the Noah Family from D. Gray Man
-Wrath from Fullmetal Alchemist (manga/Brotherhood version)
-Isley and Riful from Claymore
-Kaiki, Ougi and
from Monogatari
-Kirei from Fate
-Kumagawa and Najimi from Medaka Box
-Medusa from Soul Eater

Tough for me to decide between Shougo Makishima, Meruem, and Griffith.

All are amazingly developed villains in their own ways.

Makishima Shougo easily.

He has every quality that a good villain can have:
1. Does brutal / disturbing crimes.
2. Smart and sophisticated.
3. Has quotes to remember.
4. You can sympathize with and even wish he would succeed, epically when you discover about his real goal.
5. Great design.

His absence in season 2 just emphasizes how awesome he was.
I mean his description is litteraly "A humanist who is hopelessly in love with cruelty, savagery, and all the worst aspects of human nature, Makishima is a manipulative anarchist who is just as ruthless in his schemes as he is in physical combat" HOW IN THE HELL can people like us who love antagonists and all those sorts of characters NOT be SUPER interested in him?
psycho pass is pretty good, makishima makes it GREAT.

For whatever reason in anime in general just doesn't really tend to do compelling villains well. That being said Mother Krone from Promised Neverland was really well done easily the only villain from an anime that I've ever found frightening. Also L from Death Note, Shishigami from Iyuashiki, and Satsuki from Kill La Kill all had absolutely fantastic rivalries with their respective protagonists. I also very much liked One For All from My Hero Academia even though he wasn't there for very long.

Hmm, that's a tough question since I have a lot of favorite villains, but if I have to choose one, I guess that would be Shishio as my number one favorite villain. He looks menacing, his personality is badass, his sword techniques are cheap and brutal, and I also sympathize with his ideology. I also love the part after he dies, when he failed to conquer Japan, he set his sights in conquering hell instead. So badass!

There's a lot. Griffith and Johan Liebert are creepy but I can't help but feel bad for them because of their past...
I thought that Kira in Jojo was legit scary. That stand was something.
I don't necessarily agree with Stain from Boku no hero academia but his reasoning is interesting.

I didn't like Gilgamesh in UBW but I found him to be really well written in Zero.

you need to read it. the anime doesn't even come close to the manga, skips parts off, visualy the manga is a masterpiece, and only the first 13 volumes have been properly adaptated(out of 40!!)
