Hi,

I need a recommendation for the challenge. I don't have a massive amount of time to watch long series so Movies/OVA recommendations would be awesome, otherwise just shoot whatever you think i'd like. Thanks in advance.

I look at things we have in common and see "missing":
Akatsuki no Yona's ova
Kuroshitsuji: Book of Murder
Hetalia movie

And, that jus things I liked:
Switch
Haikara-san ga Tooru Movie 1: Benio, Hana no 17-sai
Kyou, Koi wo Hajimemasu
Tsubasa to Hotaru

Hello there, I need some suggestions and clarifications for these challenges:

(Ap.01) Watch a stand-alone OVA
(Ap.11) Watch an anime that began airing between 1990 and 1999
(Ap.28) Watch an anime with more than 16 minutes in total and tagged as Martial Arts, Military, Police and/or Samurai.
(Ap.29) Watch an anime recommended to you in the challenge discussion thread

For Ap 01, is this Kase-san valid? Asagao to Kase-san.
For Ap 11, I'd want a shoujo romance, similar to Kimi ni Todoke. Please no more than 3 cours.
For Ap 28, Everything that doesn't include Mecha, preferentially a 1 cour.
For Ap 29, A hard ecchi please, uncensored.

I'm not sure if the dates have meaning, so...
Ap. 28:
Switch (Police)
Sengoku Musou (Samurai)
Senjou no Valkyria (Military)

Ap. 29:
You know, many animes have both a censored version (TV) and non censored version (Blu-ray). So if you see a censored anime, you should just search for blu-ray.
I myself don't watch extreme ecchi. And some animes aren't called Ecchi but still have all these uncensored things (For example, Goblin Slayer... At least from the first episode I watched. And that was the CENSORED version)

Ap 01. Kase-san series is not valid, since it has related anime in the database.

Ap 11. Don't have anything for this.

Hello all, I am here for the ever-requested question: may I receive recommendations for this item?
Free range on genre and elements, though please suggest something that isn't too long ^_^

---------
Secondary question - regarding watching the last film in a film series. The group lists Kara no Kyoukai as a series, with 7 films to its name. Does that mean that a later film (this one, or or that matter this one), would not fall into a fitting one for the challenge?
Both are listed as sequels to the one that's last in the linked forum post.

Thank you for all the help :)

Here are some recomendations:

Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann
Fate/Zero
Gyakkyou Burai Kaiji: Ultimate Survivor
Violet Evergarden
Houseki no Kuni

And then for your question, Kara no Kyoukai 7 would need to be the item used for that challenge since that is the anime listed as the last of the movie series under the movie series list.

Thanks for the help! I have a question for Kaiji (kinda had it since coming across the title tbh) - is the second season necessary for completion of the story (like with Assassination Classroom), or is it just an extension of something fans liked? Or is it like many adapted works not technically complete to the woes those who don't want to go to the source

It won't be valid, as it should be listed in the award winning works club, but you can wait for it to be added. You don't have to state the specific award.

I haven’t seen the second season (yet), but I think that it still leaves some source material unadapted. However, I think the appeal of the series is more in the individual arcs and scenarios than any over-arcing plot, so you’re not necessarily missing out on any grander story.

Do people have any examples for I.2, Watch an alternative version or setting of something you've already seen? Not necessarily based on my list. I just found out Utau Shoujo YU-NO (from spring 2019) has an alternative setting ova from 1998...a hentai. I can't think of any other series with an alternative setting or version.

Also, I.9, a series adapted from a manga with a score of 6.5 or lower. The problem here seems to be a lot of manga with those lower scores are one shots or only a few volumes with no anime adaptation. I did find a few examples and I wanted to see if anyone has more. Nobunaga-Sensei, from spring 2019, as well as corrector yui, heat guy j, Dive!! and Pupa.

Casshern franchise
FMA franchise
Kino no Tabi franchise
Ghost in the Shell franchise
Evangelion franchise
pretty much anything that can be labeled as a franchise will usually have them.

Use this
https://github.com/NinjaNed/Search-Mal-By-Categories/blob/master/Anime%20By%20Source/Manga.txt
you might need to click the view RAW to see the info. It will at least give you a list of anime adapting Manga. If you try to find a crappy rated anime from this list, the manga is usually equally as crappy. Like the first choice https://myanimelist.net/anime/6076/
which would meet your requirement as its manga is rated 6.13.

(Ap.29) Watch an anime recommended to you in the challenge discussion thread

Also, about "(Ap.03) Watch the last movie of a Movie-Series", can I use https://myanimelist.net/anime/33687/Cyborg_009__Call_of_Justice_3 ?
Is currently in the bonus section of the challenge, but is available on Netflix, I'm doing Shounen restriction.

Most of the Jojo franchise should be valid for Ap.19. For Ap.22, there are only a specific few.

What series are you referencing with LWA?

The Movie-Series item links to a specific list ; you can only use what's on it.

Since there are only two Little Witch Academia movies, they're not on it (you need at least three movies to qualify), and thus can't be used for this item.

You can see your history of individual anime by going to the edit anime page and you should see a button called history next to the episode count.

Reposting a question that got lost a week ago :

For the (I.29) On-Hold/Dropped, I'm considering using one of my oldest dropped shows : Fullmetal Alchemist, of which I watched 37/51 circa 2005. Obviously I can't screenshot any episode history (it's five years before I joined MAL, which doesn't have any archives before 2011 anyway).

Would a screenshot of this page (with the "More" tab shown) be enough proof ? (The mid-2011 last updated date corresponds to when I rescored my whole list.)

I thought I responded to your question, but my bad if I didn't. It's probably a good idea to take a screenshot of that page and the history page as well. Since you have updated the number of episodes, that episode should be in your history as well.

Unfortunately, no. I set the number of episodes back when I joined MAL (in April 2010), and MAL has no record of episode history updates prior to April 25th, 2011.

I can screenshot my currently blank history (and when I'm done, the version of it with only episodes 38-51, if that helps), but I don't know it that would be useful.

Well, you do have the last updated, so I guess it should be fine? You could add the history ss as a precaution.

Hi!! I'd like a recommendation for

-Watch an anime recommended to you in the challenge discussion thread

Any sci-fi would be great!!
And also ask if K would fit in the Watch an anime that has a one-word title ๐Ÿค” the explanation doesn't say anything about it being only one letter, but I want to be sure

Before after another thing
Card Captor Sakura: The clear cards
Yu Yu Hakusho OVA (Original Yu Yu Hakusho is from 1995. It's more than 100 episodes. I think you can see the ova on its own).

If new versions are fine:
Fruits Basket - Watched the old version (2001).
Dororo (New) or Dororo to Hyakkimaru (Old) - Didn't watch either but I know the new version is very popular

anime adapted from a manga with a score of 6.5 or lower
I start to doubt even there's anything like this. I went through all the uncommon animes and my mangas which have adaption, and all are about 6.5 points.

Watch an anime that finished airing with more than 5 minutes per episode and less than 5,000
Vatican Kiseki OVA(Less then 5,000 in general: It's realted to an anime, but you can watch it. The arcs can be looked separately. It tells one story, with beginning and and end.

This isn't too difficult. I maybe went through twenty pages and these alone are the titles I recognised, there are probably a lot more on those twenty pages alone. And mind you, the manga needs to have a score of 6.5 or lower.

K is not valid, as one letter does not make a word.

Most of those aren't adapted from manga, though. Only Pupa & Genocyber qualify ; the others have "Original", "Unknown" or "Visual Novel" as sources.

My go-to suggestion for this item is Cutey Honey and its various iterations ; both the original manga and its major spin-offs (such as the source for the Re: Cutey Honey OVAs) have terrible scores on MAL.

Does that count as a full English title? Nonchalant is both English and French?? Should be alright?....
