Well the thing is they probably declared war thinking they could break through, then I strengthened my fortress seeing their army and they suddenly got cold feet xD
And as the war goes on both sides will gain "war exhaustion". When one side reaches 100% before the goals can be met the other side can enforce a "white peace". I reached 100% first so they could've enforced a white peace at that point, but they didn't because all enemy systems you occupy at that moment will become yours, meaning they would've lost their territory. Thus they ended up reaching 100% too, and lost it anyways xD
That's why I opened borders with my friend and now he's got 2 of his fleets for a total of around 32k iirc at the border between me and them. So he can attract the attention of their main fleet :3

Nah, there are 4 systems they can come in from, one in the north, west, east and south. I made sure to put such a fortress in each of the borders, of which only the north and west ones border the federation, which are the 2 strongest ones. The northern border where they put their fleet is also the capital of one of the 3 factions of the federation and moving their fleet to the west front would take them a loooong time, so they probably didn't because that would mean I'd have a free shot at taking the capital because I also had a fleet there :3
Also, did I mention their war goal was to convert my government to their religion? xD
Well you can also create a faction who's war exhaustion takes so long it's almost never an issue :3
Don't know. If he can distract their main fleet I have almost free reign to extinguish one of the 3 factions on the federation. And the main backbone of the strength of the federation seems to be the faction to the south. Their fleet is on my borders meaning this particular country is practically undefended against my friend's 3rd fleet and they'd have to go through me and my friend's other 2 fleets to get to their defense. If we can take out both of those factions the federation will be destroyed and with it their fleet power which is only so big because they're a federation :3

Then my situation would be similar to that little patch of orange below the center sandwiched between those 2 blue factions where all the blue and green below it and the red one to the east is the federation and my friend would be the "united nations of earth" in the north with that "confederation of suns" below him being his vassal xD

That depends. If they are willing to focus their army on my friend then I should be able to. So far I haven't encountered any space stations on their side exceeding 1.6k and a planet can't fight a fleet. You can perform orbital bombardment on the planet without resistance, but in the end you'll need ground armies to occupy a planet :3
If they don't and they keep an army in their capital of 6k+ strong then I won't be able to break through their defenses :3

I could use FXML to describe it, but with plain Java it seems to be much easier to implement those dynamic columns. Luckily I don't need separate configuration for that. The DB schema should not need to be changed imo, but I'll look into that once the GUI stands :3
I would love to do that, but so far it seems that JavaFX binds columns to an attribute in a model class and I haven't found a way yet to do this with a list T_T

Every once in a while when you gather enough influence you get to pick a tradition for your empire which gives you global bonuses. They are split up into various trees which each upon completion grant you an "ascension perk" which is an extremely powerful tradition that can give you entirely new gameplay mechanics to work with :3

Yep, I also picked the ascension perk for stronger fortresses. The one on my northern border to give you an idea is 12.6k strong and has an ftl inhibitor in it meaning they have to destroy it if they want to continue :3

Yes, though only that one sits at that kind of number. The other ones didn't have a need to be that powerful so the west one is sitting at something like 10.4k and the south and east ones sitting at around 6k iirc :3

Well the skaven pretty much appeared everywhere in the world, but they weren't successful everywhere. The biggest threat were the chaos warriors and demons led by Archaon from the North. The article on that is quite long though, been a while since I completely read it :3

In symfony land doctrine is indeed industry standard. This includes other frameworks built on symfony. Laravel on the other hand is one of the few that uses their own ORM called eloquent :3

Yep. All the mocking required for those classes makes the tests require way too many lines of code unfortunately so it takes quite some time to write them. And the most time consuming one is still left. Once I've done that I can write some documentation for it :3
