Global steaming content provider Netflix announced new partnerships with animation studios Anima, Sublimation, and David Production on Monday. The company also announced new anime projects with its new and current partners.

Sublimation will produce an anime adaptation of Dragon's Dogma, based on Capcom's hack and slash role-playing video game of the same title.

Synopsis
Based on a world-famous action RPG set in an open world, Dragon's Dogma from Capcom will be brought to life as a Netflix original anime series. The story follows a man's journey seeking revenge on a dragon who stole his heart. On his way, the man is brought back to life as an "Arisen." An action adventure about a man challenged by demons who represent the seven deadly sins of humans. (Source: Netflix)

Capcom released the video game for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 consoles in May 2012. The expanded version, Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen, shipped the following April. A PC port was released worldwide in January 2016. The game is also getting a Nintendo Switch version on April 23.

A new original anime titled Vampire in the Garden is also in production. Ryoutarou Makihara (Shisha no Teikoku, Hal) is helming the anime at Wit Studio (Shingeki no Kyojin), featuring character designs by Tetsuya Nishio (Ghost in the Shell: Stand Alone Complex - Solid State Society, Jin-Rou).

Synopsis
An original series by Wit Studio on two girls Momo and Fine from different backgrounds who meet by chance. A story about an unlikely friendship between human and vampire race that intertwines with the power or music. (Source: Netflix)

Netflix announced a comprehensive business alliance with Production I.G, Bones, and Wit Studio last year. The company's growing anime programming also includes Production I.G and Sola Digital Arts' new Ghost in the Shell: SAC_2045 3DCG anime series, which is set for a 2020 premiere.

SnK money didn't go to Wit Studio. Its money went to SnK Production Committee (Production I.G., MBS, Kodansha, Pony Canyon). Studio just get anime production service fee except if the studio joined production committe too (i didn't see wit studio name on SnK production committe)

Netflix literally continues to save anime but ppl still find reasons to hate.

Can't believe this.

Dragon's Dogma was a fantastic RPG and one of Capcom's most overlooked titles. While an anime anime adaptation is nice, I'm mainly looking forward to the announcement of a possible sequel. Capcom has been on a roll lately so I'm looking forward to it happening!

Not interested in either of these, Dragon's Dogma will likely be some dark fantasy full CGI stuff and the Witt studio one sounds just like another Carole & Tuesday, so, no thank you!

I am looking forward to all of these, especially GitS. Spriggan and Dragon's Dogma also have my attention. Hopefully they don't suck.

Same reaction.

They are actually trying to do something good for the anime community. Even if they are doing it for their own benefit they are doing really good.

Yes, I have Netflix, no I am not the biggest fan of it (neither of Amazon but there you go) BUT if their involvement means that animators finally get decent pay and studios do not have to worry all the time because they barely scrape by. Fine by me. As long as Netflix stays out of the creative process I am happy with the new developments.

They wont get my hate here, recently I watched Devilman Crybaby, we have to give them some kudos for these iniciatives, same from DD, though my wish is more rather than this will propel Capcom to do a sequel to the game, if this gets really popular.

I don't think Capcom understands. We want a new sequel for Dragon's Dogma, not an anime :P
Plus DMC5 is out, so Itsuno might be free to direct a sequel.

Oh so you're telling me my favourite game ever is getting an anime adaption... better not suck.

If I don't hear "GOBLIN" every 5-10 seconds, I'm going to be very disappointed.

Man, dunno about how well the Dragon's Dogma anime is going to be but that game had fucking amazing gameplay. Yet to find another action rpg with that tight of a combat experience for PC.

Story was really weird. Gave me mixed feelings, to the point I don't know whether to call it really smart or straight up wtf.

Here's to hoping this anime project garners some much needed revenue for a proper sequel (instead of that Dragon's Dogma online shite).

If you get the chance, play the game! It has one of the best action rpg combat I've ever played. Have yet to find a game that tops its combat.

Add 'there's no way we could've lost to that' as well. And the innkeeper saying 'what will it be today' every scene he's in.

Wow, I miss that game, I feel like replaying it again because of this.

You can "get" the show. It has a very anime-esque story.

Fans like us who love that game simply adore it for its great action-combat gameplay.

Very replayable due to its host of classes/vocations that you need to specialize in, each requiring its own playstyle in a slightly different ways.

Dragon's dogma has very fun gameplay for that type of game imo, but neither the lore nor the story is anything special. It's more than enough to keep the game enjoyable, but just as a story or as a background for one? heeeh.
I'm not sure there's a point in making a movie/serie/or anime out of it.
