Currently, I only have the dub of this movie (!), actually I have the RAW as well, hell I even got some Chinese subs (I'd learn some Chinese, but yeah, no). Anyway, I was just wondering what your opinion is on this movie? I don't mind watching dubs (if they're good that is) but if I were to get KAA's version (which I am doing anyway), I'd lose clearness and resolution compared to the HD version I currently have. I heard the first bit in the dub, I thought it was pretty good, but stopped there to gather some opinions.

Better yet, someone want to rip a subtitle file off of theirs and give it to me? That would be nice (I've googled just for a subtitle .ass/.srt, no luck).

Any opinions would be nice and/or may influence my viewing of this movie.

p.s I've read the other topic and it seems the DVD is worth picking up, I might just do that later if I can find it.

I went with the dub on this one. I watched the 5 centimeters per second movie in English so I felt I might as well watch this one in English too. But now that I think about it... I don't think I could have watched it in subs. I enjoyed it in English :3

I watched the subbed version for the movie. I prefer sub over dub as i think that the seiyuu were great, not that i'm saying the eng voice actor were not good.

Its possible to find the movie on veoh and youtube.

I haven't heard the dub, but I can tell you the Japanese version is good.

But if I were in your situation, I'd probably watch the high quality dub you've got, since you said the voices you heard in it were pretty good anyways.

Afterall, HD ftw~

edit: nevermind, i just realized how old this thread was -_-

I think that for this movie the Japanese version is definitely more accurate, so i'm all for sub.

I go out of my way to get the dub, I hate reading subtitles... boring

It might not be as good, but unless you understand Japanese then it's the next best thing the only thing I would say is if there could be more UK dubbers and less American, as there accent sucks..

I'm getting subbed. Just for being liking the originality of it when I think about the whole thing.

Made in Japan, gotta have Japanese voices :D

I watched the sub, and a little of the dub ( then the audio got messed up for the dub and he sub on the streaming site so I ended up downloading the subbed version)

And I have to say t doesn't reallyatter for this one. I usually hate dubs bcauee thy are usually very bad, but they did a pretty good job dubbing this movie.

I watched the dub because Its hard for me to read subtitles for a long period of time plus I'm legally blind wiich causes me to be a slow reader and have to pause it every five seconds uggggh

Dub was absolutely amazing.. But i bet the sub is just as good for people who don't mind annoying subtitles lol.. This anime movie as a whole is a masterpiece..

I as well thought that the dub was pretty good. Without subtitles, it's like I'm watching a real movie, if you know what I mean :)

I almost always prefer subs, but I actually enjoyed the dub for this movie. I didn't like Sayuri's voice so much sometimes, but I thought the main male characters were pretty well done.

There are TWO English dubs out. I don't know which one people are talking about, but there's the Bandai and there's the ADV.
For the Male you have Johnny Yong Bosch on Bandai, and David Matranga for ADV. I absolutely love JYB, but I actually chose Matranga. JYB did really good, but I liked him just a little bit more. Maybe I've heard JYB too much. But yeah. Regardless, the both dubs are excellent.

The dub was okay, I just had some problems with the translations. Too much figurative language and melodramatic dialogue.

I've watched both the dub and sub multiple times. I think both are really well done.
