So basiclly the question is "What's the first anime you would recommend for a non-anime fan?" Which could either go for someone who wants to get into anime or wants to understand it more.

Mine would be Your Name because the visuals draw people in and get them invested into the story. Also the story line was interesting which kept me at the edge of my seat. I've recommended this to multiple people and every time someone does watch it they keep coming back asking for more recommendations.

TTGL, because that is the definition of anime as a medium.

That's a pretty complex question, a lot of factors play into what i would recommend to someone. I don't think there is a universal anime to pick. Most simply i need to know what genre they're into, what they have already seen that they might not be aware of, if they're not used to animations what they would value like art quality or story telling etc.

I would probably go through the top scored and popular anime synopsis by genre with them and see what interests them along with suggestions for what i've already seen.

i would recommend them eromanga-sensei. after that there's 2 paths:

-they either drop anime forever
-or they continue and every next anime after eromanga would seem good

One Punch Man is an anime I’d recommend to a non anime fan because the plot is pretty straightforward and simple

While TTGL is a fantastic anime, it's only representative of the action part of the anime industry. There' are probably more anime taking place in real life (SoL, drama, comedy, thrillers like Monster) than animes with major supernatural elements or taking place in another world.

Death Note is a good start I think. It's hooking, serious, has some supernatural elements but takes place in the real world, and is thought provoking.
Steins;Gate is a good choice also, you just have to tell the person that they have to wait a bit until it really begins

Miyazaki films are a pretty good first step into anime. How many more people are anime fans today because Disney made a deal with Studio Ghibli to distribute their films?

As long as someone has watched movies or read books before then they already know what they like. I'd ask them what kinds of things they tend to enjoy and I'd try to find an anime that can provide that.

Depends on the tastes of the person I'm recommending to. Mainstream stuff is probably the best to draw most people in, especially if they want to discuss what they watch with others. Death Note, AoT, FMA (Brotherhood or original) and HeroAca are all nice options. A movie like Spirited Away or Your Name would also be good, there's not really a wrong answer though.

+1 to death note. It's a very good choice.

Also one punch man if they're a fan of superheroes.

My sister isn’t an anime fan but she really liked Little Witch Academia, Hunter X Hunter, Fairy Tail and Konosuba.
Death Note almost always works as a gateway anime

It rather depends upon the person, and what kind of things he likes, etc. I usually recommend watching Death Note, and BnHA, which has worked every time for me.

I think SAO(Sword Art Online) because it is a very good starter anime, the first one I watched, and I also like the anime in general. It is also a basic Good/Bad so it would be easy to understand.I have recommended this to my non-anime friends and they end up liking a lot of anime because of it.So, I recommend Sword Art Online.

Probably something somewhat short. If they're a pretty serious drama person, I'd recommend one of Satoshi Kon's movies because they're really good. If they like comedy especially, probably Nichijou because it's a really visually impressive anime that uses animation to make their punchlines even better. If they like superheroes a lot, MHA. Of course it all depends on how open they are to watching an anime.
