So this there a specific watching order to all of this?

Steins;Gate Movie: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu

Steins;Gate

Steins;Gate 0

Steins;Gate: Soumei Eichi no Cognitive Computing

Steins;Gate: Oukoubakko no Poriomania

Steins;Gate: Kyoukaimenjou no Missing Link - Divide By Zero

And where does the visual novel fit in. Should I play that and then watch everything or is the anime adapted from it?

Best Waifu: Holo - Spice and Wolf
Favorite Anime: Steins; Gate

The true chronological order is:
Steins;Gate ep 1-22 -> 23 beta (Missing Link) -> Steins;Gate 0 -> Steins;Gate ep 23-24 -> Steins;Gate ep 25 (OVA - Oukoubakko no Poriomania) -> Steins;Gate Movie (Déjà vu)
Although you should probably watch S;G completely first and then go to the others. Either is fine.

The Cognitive Computing specials are just for fun, they can be watched whenever, although they probably fit after the movie.

Note that OVA/Movie/Specials aren't considered canon.

S;G and S;G 0 are adapted from visual novels. S;G is considered a very good adaptation, and S;G 0 hopefully will be as well, judging from the first episode being superior to the VN.

The movie and OVA are not canon, what @Aquamirror mentioned is the perfect order in watching the series, the non canon is just fanservice for people who love S;G

the non canon sucks. if it were today and s;g 0 was close to the end, i would watch in the chrono order as @Aquamirror said

however as s;g 0 will take more than 20 weeks, you should probably just watch all the s;g and then go to s;g 0

Watch release order first (you can ignore the non canon stuff)
Steins;Gate -> Episode 23B -> Steins;gate 0

For rewatches tho, I would recommend chronological order:
Steins;Gate Episodes 1-22 -> 23B -> Steins;gate 0 -> Steins;Gate 23-24

As others have said, in chronological order: S;G 1-22 -> S;G 23b -> S;G 0 1-23 -> S;G 23-24

OVA is widely accept as non-canon, but it doesn't break any of the existing time travel mechanics so you could say it's canon if you want some sort of closure.

The movie is non-canon and breaks the time travel mechanics established in S;G 0. Movie is pretty terrible imo, but go watch it if you're really craving for some more S;G.

I would suggest playing the visual novels if you really want more Steins;Gate.

Chronological order is an awful way to watch something for the first time. This is twice as true in a time travel story.

The whole point of S;G 0 is that we already know what happened in episodes 23-24. Watching it out of release order only robs yourself of the emotion.

If you want to watch in chrono order after, go ahead that's cool. But I will defend to the death the release order for a first watch of this and most other stories.

If you're new to the series then the only important thing is watching the original in its entirety. After that you can watch the ova/specials/movie in any order while SG:O is airing. It really doesn't matter.

If you want to experience to "original" feel of the Steins;Gate universe, watch the whole Steins;Gate series (1-24), then watch 23b then Steins;Gate 0. After that, you can watch anything Steins;Gate-related anime you want.

Yeah ^ Plus I finished this series when the 23b episode didn't air yet. I think there is a bigger impact if you finish the original then 23b then 0 if you're watching for the first time.

After you watch the original, you can watch anything.

Just make sure you watch episode 23b before S;G 0, otherwise you'll miss the beginning of the story.
And no, you shouldn't watch episode 23b before you finish S;G. You're not going to want to anyway and it wouldn't make any sense to do so.

If you want to watch everything I would watch in this order Steins;Gate > Steins;Gate: Oukoubakko no Poriomania > Steins;Gate Movie: Fuka Ryouiki no Déjà vu > Steins;Gate: Kyoukaimenjou no Missing Link - Divide By Zero > Steins;Gate 0

However, the movie and special aren't really important to the story, nor are they cannon I believe so if you only want to watch the essentials (shame on you), then the absolute MUST watch order is: Steins;Gate > Steins;Gate Episode 23 β (Kyoukaimenjou no Missing Link - Divide By Zero) > Steins;Gate 0

S;G Eps 1-22 > Ep 23 β (prequel to S;G 0) > S;G 0 Eps 1-23 > S;G Eps 23-24 > S;G Special > S;G Movie > S;G ONA's (you can watch them anytime)

The S;G Special and Movie aren't considered canon, but they must be seen after episode 24.

Regarding the special of S;G 0, that will air in November, I think that there won't be no problem to see it after watching the main series (of course, not considering the "non-canon" material).

Wow you guys, thanks for the info!
For some reason, I thought no one replied. I'll watch them in the release order and then rewatch them later in the way that was described.

As someone who watched by order of release, i would want others to experience watching the chronological order (SG 1-22, 23b, SG0, SG23-24, then others).

As such, i would recommend them to wait for SG0's last ep to be aired before they start watching the whole series and watch it in one go for the best experience. Better if they watch it at night (lol). Knowing how things will end kinda kills a part of my anticipation. But that's just me.

Altho... a part of me says it might depend on how good SG0 will be. Might change when SG0 ends. Note also that i know nothing about the VN.

WTH... Without S;G, there is no reason to care about anything happening in S;G 0 at all.

S;G 0 isn't a prequel for God's sake.

Watch Steins;Gate in release order because the anime was originally intended to be watched that way.

Steins;Gate 01-24 > Steins;Gate (Ova) 23B > Steins;Gate 0

Steins;Gate (Movie) and Steins;Gate (Ova) 25 are non canon so you can watch them in any release order but ONLY after finishing Steins;Gate 01-24.

For fuck sake don't ever do this, it will ruin the whole experience with Steins;Gate.

Seriously... is like watching "The Matrix 3" first while skipping "The Matrix 1 & 2", you won't understand shit of what that movie is about if you watch it like that.

So no, don't ever do that.

If you want the authentic Steins;Gate experience then you would watch S;G 1-25, S;G missing link - divide by zero, S;G0, and the non-cannon stuff. If you want a much more emotional thrill ride then S;G 1-22, S;G missing link - divide by zero, S;G0, S;G 23-24, and all the non cannon stuff. I would recommend the second order (the one I said was emotional) simply because the thrill and excitement of Steins;Gate came from us knowing what the characters know nothing more if you have half a brain you know how S;G0 will end if you have watched all of S;G which takes away some of the thrill.

She should just finish S;G normally, S;G0 is bad anyway.

For me Steins gate 0 wasn't that bad, and okabe construction was very good, and his reawaken also. Exept for roots scenes the anime wasn't bad
Ps: she didn't wait for my answer and finished the original
