FeelsGood to get into the series shortly before it releases a new update after like 2 years of nothing I said before that minusT is like Monty Oum on drugs but Asa Toshi's style reminds me more of Monty with their obsession with chinese martial arts movies and implementation of it in their animated works. Only difference is that Monty uses mocap a lot while this guy doesn't. I usually don't like MMD works all too much (since most of them are shit) but this guy's gucci, and afaik he uses his own models too.  wonder if there's any other gr8 solo animators I don't know about that do awesome fight scenes |

| I watched it. It's surprisingly good. Some of the jokes were funny, and the rest... well, were above average at worst. Also, the races are intense and really entertaining to watch. |

| next up i want to try and finish yuri on ice finally, getting back into it has actually been fairly enjoyable so far but man did they beef the relationship between yuri and victor so hard that it brings the whole show down. Its not even just the fact that its trying so hard to come off as gay when in reality it still is too scared to commit to that, its also cause these romantic implications end up coming off as incredibly creepy at times from victor, its got that same issue i have with a ton of a certain brand of shoujo where the "dreamy" character just comes off as kind of rapey getting more intimate from 0 to 100 way to fast. In this show it just feels like the impact of a student and his idol dynamic is completely thrown away for fujo bait that the show is too afraid to commit to, at the moment the least enjoyable parts are the stuff relating to them that isnt the actual ice skating which is just a damn shame. |

| Ngl, I was pretty disappointed in Mahoyome. It always looked quite pretty, but I felt the relationships and developments came across as increasingly hollow. By the end, the haphazard pacing and rushed out developments probably hurt it the most. Somewhere through the first cour I think it lost its atmosphere of magic, but I'd be willing to give the manga the benefit of the doubt of an anime cutting out important character details. Maybe I had overblown expectations, but looking back, you can make quick comparisons to a heap of similar anime that have done various aspects so much better (angst, puppy love, curses/supernatural, magic of nature, coming of age, etc. etc.). I'd hazard that becoming more and more unable to empathise with the two leads was my big disconnect with the show, and that grew until the point of apathy. |

I mean, I did enjoy some of their interaction outside of the actual ice-skating part, but it also felt to me that there was no actual commitment to a real romance even if many fujos still think there was. |
