Very confused about Netflix and Violet Evergarden. I refuse to believe they're gonna do a simulcast for this show. I actually think they'll drop all episodes at once. (I could be wrong ofc)

Also I think Neflix category needs Devilman: crybaby.

You call this handy?
This is just a simple thread.
Use Fansubdb.com instead.

On topic:
Crunchyroll looks like gonna be the king again. Though Amazon/Anime Strike was booming too.
Well never mind, I won't be watching any that was being aired.
I will just gonna wait it until it ended, Then binged watch it on one go.

All we were waiting on was Overlord II. You can stop updating this list because any anime that comes out this year is minuscule and irrelevant. We don't care about anything else.

Also a new Overlord movie will be coming out as well. 2018 just keeps getting better and better.

Ok, this is getting out of hand. Thier is now multiple subscription services that have exclusive simulcast now and it's just easier to use illegal anime sites.

Yes, Netflix will simulcast it with one day delay, it seems. It shows that it is going to start on the 11th of January while in Japan it is going to be on the 10th.

EDIT: I'm not really sure about the date because of the time zones but yeah it will probably be on the 11th.

At least for me here in the USA, it's actually getting better compared to most of 2017, because this season Sentai is putting their exclusives on HIDIVE instead of Amazon's Anime Strike. All three are shows I want to watch, and I'm happy to subscribe to HIDIVE for them, whereas I don't want Amazon Prime for various reasons. Thanks to the Crunchyroll/Funimation deal, my situation now, CR + HIDIVE, is like the annual CR+Funi subscriptions I had before.

(And yes, subscription streaming is a flawed way to support a fundamentally broken industry, but I choose to do it nonetheless.)

I'd subscribe to HIDIVE for Hakumei to Mikochi alone. I would have done so for Girls' Last Tour.

They're simulcasting in a lot of countries, but apparently not the USA and Australia, among others. Your profile says Europe, so you may be getting it. See country list here and unproductive conversation with a Netflix (USA) representative below it. https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/comments/7mtnnu/its_official_netflix_is_going_to_simulcast_violet/drwrp2i/

I didn't wait for LWA, but for VE I'll wait. Seems there's not much I'm interested in in spring anyway, so having one less show to watch weekly now is good.

Some info for the curious: "Why Doesn't Netflix Simulcast?"
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2017-07-07/.118491
^This is about Netflix's strategy and assumptions up to this point. TL;DR, Netflix has been targeting people who don't keep up with anime and don't even know about shows until Netflix releases them in a single bingeable lot.

That's a lot of people among their 100 million subscribers, but as for how that compares to business they could get from simulcasting, I can only guess. The assumption is that those of us who don't want to wait are a minority compared to Netflix casuals, and Netflix's data tells them that people enjoy shows more when they binge them. (Presumably they're not really interested in iyashikei, which tends to be better watched episodically, although they've had Mushi-shi from time to time.)

And then there's this newer article about Netflix's huge plans for the future.... https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2017-11-01/.123445

...which is sort of a follow-up to this one, which I'll quote again because it counters a popular misperception.
https://www.animenewsnetwork.com/answerman/2016-10-17/.107730

Japan's seemingly-inevitable tumble off the economic cliff in the next few decades is a constant concern for every Japanese business, especially one such as anime, which still depends heavily on the domestic market to make its money, and on domestic talent to get produced. The anime industry is trying to head this disaster off at the pass. Both the government and the major companies have invested a great amount of resources into expanding the international market, especially into China and into English speaking parts of the world. The last five years have seen an epoch-making shift in how much revenue comes in from places like Crunchyroll and Chinese streaming platforms, versus Japanese fans. I haven't seen recent numbers, but it's generally thought that overseas sales are now as important to a show's bottom line as domestic fans -- perhaps moreso.

You call binge watchers casuals? We are not! It's just about preference.
I used to watch weekly, but I got tired of waiting every week. So I switch back to all at once.
It's just also we had real life activities, those weekly watcher got lots of free time on their hand or they are just an a OTAKU!

Although I do admit Kyoanis shows usually tend to be overhyped, I am actually really looking forward to this. Not only for it's spectacular even outstanding animation, but for it's interesting promise.
How will a robot deal with living a normal life after the end of a war?... I think most shows only tend to focus on the psycologial aspects during a war and how bad it is.
But not often are we introduced to a post war world, where we follow the lives of those involved who managed to survive and are learning to cope with the now peaceful world, if that makes any sense... well after all I have only been in the anime fandom since 3 years. So I may don't know what I am talking about. There are only so many anime I have seen.
To Summarize, this is the reason for which I think this could be an outstanding show. Of course there is a possibility, I misunderstood what this show is actually about or that the show disappoints for some reason, maybe it's characters are to bland or one sided with no interesting traits to them, but I don't think that is going to be the case with this one.

Everything from the ''noitaminA'' block in Japan (which Ameagari is airing this season) are automatically on Amazon.
(Which means you can already forget Wotaku ni Koi wa Muzukashii being anywhere else than Amazon next season)

My bad, Crunchyroll has Takagi-san and Dagashi Kashi 2. FUNi also acquired them, so it's probably going to be streamed in the US.

I don't think it has been acquired by anyone yet. The official site lists Netflix and Hulu but that is probably within Japan.

Then it makes me kinda question this:
Why are they going to simulcast VE then? Doesn't that go against their plan?
Or are they trying out something new?

I kinda hope that they are going to simulcast anime and then Notify the users when the show has finished Simulcasting. That seems to be the best to me.

I also Really like Binging series but I also watch Simulcasted shows if I feel like doing so. There are so many shows I feel like binging now like MMO junkie and Mahoujo Guru guru.

I live in the Netherlands so I can watch VE too (yay). Sadly I cannot watch all anime... not all the services are Worldwide and even CR has a lot of anime not worldwide even though they are with Funimation...

So who getting Skilled Teaser Takagi and Overlord S2? Also Dagashi Kashi in USA?
My bad, Crunchyroll has Takagi-san and Dagashi Kashi 2. FUNi also acquired them, so it's probably going to be streamed in the US.

We usually don't add ONA series to the list in first place, but I don't mind adding them if users are asking for it. However, I wouldn't really consider it a simulcast if all episodes are being dropped at the same time.

Nanatsu no Taizai: Imashime no Fukkatsu is missing.
I don't think it has been acquired by anyone yet. The official site lists Netflix and Hulu but that is probably within Japan.

That is weird, 7 deadly sins did do pretty well on Netflix so hearing them not aquiring worldwide is strange.

Plus it would be nice If ONA are being included as well, that type of series doesn't really get much attention.

Hey Gid0
interesting point of view, impressions from the early screenings?
BTW. Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou [apocalyptic post-war period] (Fall 2017) that may be of interest to you.

It has been announced on Fate/Extra's official site.

However, I have been searching for where it is written that it is going to be simulcasted worldwide and I can't find it...

I'm confused about fate being on Netflix? It's not shown anywhere but the official website and if so, will it be weekly like Violet or do we have to wait like Apocrypha?

I guess that would be cool seeing them here, even tho they're not really simulcast, so people could know that these animes are coming too.

To my knowledge, wakanim is also available in Austria and has the same simulcasts as Germany (at least for the most part).

We list Anime Strike and Prime Video seperately in this thread, so you probably won't have access to both since the former acts as an add-on subscription? Someone correct me if I'm wrong, I don't use either services.

You're right, looks like I made a mistake since Apocryphia was on Netflix and I worked under the wrong assumptions. It might only be within Japan, so I'll remove it until more has been announced. My bad!

It also looks like Netflix is doing a weekly simulcast with Violet Evergarden this time, or at least in some regions. Might be a case of weekly simulcast in x regions and everything at once in another region.

Thanks, added Austria to the list of territories. You reckon that they are streaming it in all German-speaking regions?

Right, but it also depends on where NG_Calen lives. In previous seasons, shows that were exclusively part of the Strike add-on subscription in the USA were on Prime for no extra cost in Canada, because Strike wasn't available there. It's really confusing. This season, the four shows confirmed for Amazon are described as being on the "Prime video service," not Strike? Is Strike going away, then?

Then it makes me kinda question this:
Why are they going to simulcast VE then? Doesn't that go against their plan?
Or are they trying out something new?

We can only guess :) Yeah, maybe they want to test for themselves how viewership figures change when they simulcast, before doing it in their biggest market territory (USA)? But that's just a wild guess.

About the Amazon (Prime Video) shows: those will stream on the Prime Video service outside of USA, and in USA only on Anime Strike (unless something changes).
