I am kinda salty because the half of top "10" Nov are stuff i never heard. Though some seems promising i felt it really does based on fans vote. Similiar to that Kiritolord... I am not sure what make him special despite having such generic characters. Since i don't even bother to read the novel i hope that list really live up the anime version. |

*6. Yukino Yukinoshita (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.) *7. Yui Yuigahama (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.) *9. Iroha Isshiki (Yahari Ore no Seishun Love Comedy wa Machigatteiru.) Ohh well, let's just at least appreciate that Vol 10.5 was quite good, and Iroha truly shine in that volume. |

At the very least Dendro is in the top three. Shame really that the sales is poor that it didn't enter Oricon chart. Cannot wait for it to get an anime. I want to see how ridiculous Brother Bear 4th to 7th Embryo form is. Also it deserve spot in illustration part too. Other from the list that I want to read soon is 86. |

Ryuuou no Oshigoto! really gives me high expectations for the upcoming anime adaptation. On the books' side, Honzuki no Gekokujou has been a sleeper hit for me. I've started reading this not long ago and it's been pretty well done. It got a CD adaptation before so a possible anime in the future isn't impossible. Nice to see Kumo desu ga, Nani ka? up there too. |

Loli shogi is really popular, huh. Perhaps i'll pick it up and also the bookworm isekai later. 86 is personally the best title i've read this year. And too bad Index didn't make it, since the newest arc is really good after the disappointing previous one. At this point the female poll should be titled "Top 9 Female Characters after Misaka Mikoto" instead. |

Ryuuou no Oshigoto ranking #1 in LNs makes me hope the upcoming anime will do it justice, but I just have a bad feeling about it tbh... Books list has some nice entries, alright. Ugh, Kirito #1...get your head out of your ass Japan. |

Surprisingly, if I'm not mistaken this is the first time since 2008 To Aru Majutsu no Index exclude from top 10. The Goddess Othinus on Top 10 Female even without anime appearence, if only the new Index anime reach New Testament. 2. 86 I can see it, this novel will be the next Dengeki Bunko "hot property". I like the story, it didn't shy away to show us "the dark side of the war". Really hope it will get anime in the future. 3. Infinite Dendrogram Mah boy! It's finally make it, Anime Incoming bitch!!! 8. Gamers! Second season when?? |

Books *1. Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen Female Characters *2. Maine (Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen) Male Characters *8. Ferdinand (Honzuki no Gekokujou: Shisho ni Naru Tame ni wa Shudan wo Erandeiraremasen) Best part of the ranking, definitely. Maybe we can expect an anime adaptation of this one even, since it's so surprisingly popular already. I mean Maine beating even Asuna on a 100% popularity based part of the poll? Wow that was clearly unexpected. Celebrations are in order! Also, youjo senki third, not bad, not bad at all. Most of the bunko list doesn't interest me though. |

Memesaka Memekoto being memed into the first place on the female category, what a surprise! Seriously though, I do like her but some variety once in a while wouldn't hurt, the only one who managed to beat her was Yukinoshita and that was in 2015. Also, here's the Combined Characters for those interested 1 Misaka Mikoto 664 points / 240 votes 2 Kirito 612 points/254 votes 3 Hikigaya Hachiman 551 points/232 votes 4 Kamijou Touma 496 points/191 votes 5 Shiba Tatsuya 440 points/ 201 votes 6 Accelerator 407 points/ 164 votes 7 Maine (Rozenmain, Honzuki) 288 points / 103 votes 8 Asuna 253 points / 144 votes 9 Sora 224 points 10 Natsuki Subaru 216 points source: /a/ I've only read the prologue of 86 and it was pretty good, also protagonist with red eyes + silver/white haired waifu = insta fav. Unfortunately is seems like the translator, Teh Ping, won't translate from Vol. 2 onwards Infinite Dengrogram seems fun, just like 86 I've just read the prologue and it seems promising. Now that the Alicization arc is over I just couldn't care less what place SAO gets anymore, but it's nice to see Asuna ranking #3 on the female category. There's not a single character from the male category that I don't like (except for the guy from Bookworm because I didn't read the novel). I've read the Ryuuo prologue Good year overall, I would comment about the 10th place but I would probably be banned for the '2 nukes' meme. |

Like, only 240 people out of millions of people living in Japan says that Misaka #1? That doesn't sound like this ranking event is a big deal. |

Hmm, so now I understand that people can vote for 3 characters at a time, which will be given a 3pts, 2pts or 1pt depending on the 1st, 2nd or 3rd pick by the voters. What I don't understand is that there's only like ~300-400 people voting on this event? Especially something that is polled from the internet (based on Wikipedia, which doesn't explain the low number of people). That doesn't seem like a lot of people for a ranking poll that has been running since 2005. Unless it's "300 high esteemed voters" like those critics in Rotten Tomatoes. |

DarklordVor said: Ayy, Misaka got listed 1st again! I mean, is it even questionable? The worst she's done is being second in 2015, because Yukino got popularity boost from season 2. Otherwise, Misaka has always been #1 since 2010! Go Misaka! Third season hype, but she will barely have screen time T_T Season 5 plz. Misaka fans have proven time and time again that they are really good at mobilising themselves for basically any popularity based votes. In a poll like this one with tens if not hundreds of thousands of characters to choose between it doesn't take all that large a dedicated fandom to get them at or near the top every single year, and there are enough characters with sufficient fandom to keep them in the characters that make the longer list every single year as to make those rankings by far the least meaningful part of the whole thing. Luckily both character rankings put together only take up about 5% of the space. |
