| Since you apparently have no intention of playing the source material and just want to watch the anime... go in order of release (You'll also figure out how to watch the spin-offs that have nothing to do with the main series that way). F/Stay Night (for that Saber route) > F/Zero > F/UBW TV version > F/Heaven's feel. Don't let the hardcore VN fans get to you. The animes were aired like that for a reason (don't watch the UBW movie). |

However, I'd like to recommend as follows; Fate/Zero - Season 1 Fate/Zero - Season 2 Fate/Stay Night - Optional - May/May not watch it. However, do not worry, even if you choose to watch Fate/Stay Night, you won't be spoiled. As Fate/Unlimited Blade Works has a different and better plot than Fate/Stay Night. Fate/Unlimited Blade Works (not the movie) - It is a remake of Fate/Stay Nights with a better animation and a better plot. Fate/Unlimited Blade Works - Season 2 And, you can watch the spin-offs any way you like. They are not related to each other. |

| Read the visual novel, there is no good replacement for it. If not, here's how you watch the anime: If you can wait for the second HF movie to come out then: UBW (both seasons) -> HF movies (1,2) -> Fate/Zero (both seasons) -> wait for HF movie 3 If you can't wait for the second HF movie, then pick one of the following orders (both of them spoil some things for HF movies, so I don't recommend them): 1) UBW (both seasons) -> Fate/Zero (both seasons) -> HF movies (1,2,3) or 2) Fate/Zero (both seasons) -> UBW (both seasons) -> HF movies (1,2,3) Important: if you're going to watch Fate/Zero before UBW, please do not expect UBW to act as a sequel to Fate/Zero or have a similar writing style, they were written by different authors and have a different focus and tone to them, and on top of that UBW is only 1/3 of the parts that make up Fate/stay night. Fate/Zero was meant to be watched after finishing all 3 routes of the Fate/stay night visual novel, but we currently lack a good anime for the Fate route(first route) and the second HF movie hasn't come out yet. Fate/Apocrypha can be watched separately, but you will not understand some things if you start with it, so watch it after UBW at least, and if possible after all 3 HF movies. | FOR THOSE LIKE ME WHO DO NOT WANT TO READ THE VISUAL NOVEL (VN) AND ARE COMPLETELY LOST Thanks to Shayon, I took the time to read the post : https://www.reddit.com/r/anime/wiki/seriesfaq-fate In summary : it is a story with 3 different routes (like timeline) : Fate/stay night, Fate/UBW and HF Fate/Zero is a prequel of all the routes According to the very comprehensive post on reddit (very good job by the way): Watching Fate/stay night (2006) will spoil Fate/UBW and HF Watching Fate/Zero will spoil Fate/stay night and HF CONCLUSION IF YOU WANT TO AVOID ANY SPOILERS WATCH : 1.Fate/UBW 2.HF (the movies, 1 is out at the moment, which implies waiting for the other) 3.Fate/stay night (it seems many viewers are saying it is rather lackluster and can be skipped). 4. Fate/Zero So after reading the post... I decided to watch... none ;-) and wait for all HF movies to be out there before starting. There many good animes around so waiting should not be a big issue! |
