Happy for the other season's anime, but Tsuki ga Kirei? I will not say that this is overrated, but I just do not understand why this absolutely unleavened anime without any conflict has become successful.

Tsuki ga Kirei sales are looking good.
[Well being able to purchase a Bluray Box of a whole 1 cour show for only 15000 - 20000 JPY is a huge advantage compared to the usual 6-8 Volumes for 6000/7000 JPY each.]

Romance anime doesn't need "conflicts", "over dramatic backstory", "memory loss shit", maybe nipponjins finally realize those things. Simple is good.

What drama? What are you talking about? This anime is so absurdly realistic that you can just as well observe other people's romantic relationships in real life. And do not think that besides dramatic love triangles or tragedy, there are no other ways to create a conflict in story.

I understand perfectly what you want to say, so do not ignore my answer if you really want to continue the conversation. And as for "simplicity", then with such logic and K-ON is a terrific musical anime. Simplicity is not synonymous with boring primitivism without originality.

The manga is still selling over 1 million copies per volume, its getting a sequel game, its getting a s3 sequel it has the most watched views online in Japan spring 2017, it still sells merch. The series is still going strong overall, don't downplay a entire series just because its not doing so well in the blu ray department.

ok I didn't word it right, what I meant by "SAO is still going strong unlike AoT" is that it didn't suffer from a significant decline in disk sales (which is a huge source of income for late night anime) like AoT, and that surely made the AoT franchise overall income less than it would have been if S2 had S1 disc sales, I know that AoT is still more popular than SAO in japan, and I know that disk sales is an almost outdated factor to decide how successful a franchise is, but no one can deny that the drop from 50k to 6k average was huge and it hurt the franchise in one way or another.

That is true, I think they hurt them self with that expensive price tag it had. Granted I wasn't expecting it to sell close to what the first season did, but I was expecting at least 20k. I believe that is what sao 2 did which wasn't a big decline compare to snk.

But I believe the 4 years wait really hurt, sao only took two years for its second season in comparison. But that is no excuse still, since sao is still doing good after 3 whole years without the anime, and when s3 airs it will be 4 years since the first season, and I expect it to sell well.

So yeah, I get what you're saying.

Hopefully s3 of snk will really be 2 cour and with levi playing a bigger role in s3, maybe he can be the catalyst for a much better sales for season 3. Maybe it was the lack of levi is what cost the decline in sales. Well, we shall see.

Wow. Despite not having the traditional concert scene in the first episode, AXZ is still able to sell that much on Vol.1. Looks like the fans were really forgiving about it. Now we wait to see how much the final Vol will sell...

Princess Prinicpal selling well as predicted. And being an original, I'm pretty sure a sequel will be in the works later on...

The actual live event ticket in volume one mattered much more than an animated live event in the anime, obviously. I am a big fan of Symphogear and bought AXZ v1 myself (next three ordered so far) but I'm not sure it really matters what happens in the anime. The franchise has reached the state where it doesn't even matter that season 5 has already been greenlit so people don't need to buy season 4 in hopes of getting a sequel. They buy it anyway. It has that much popularity that it hasn't even levelled off after 4 seasons. This is unprecedented though of course other series have had higher totals.

PriPri is original but the radio show said to buy the discs and play and pay the game if you want season two. The disc sales are good but not a slam dunk for a sequel. We shall see.

Glad to see some shows doing well there. While I had some issues around the end for Princess Principal it was a good show and glad it is selling pretty well. Natsume remains pretty solid in sales. The power of SAO remains unstoppable.

While obviously there is good reasons for it, I am glad to see Symphogear sticking near the top there. Just kind of nice to see a franchise start out and grow to this point. Season 5 announced along with S4 is something to look forward to.

Not surprised that Katsugeki: Touken Ranbu is selling well...though I do think it was a pretty mediocre series.

Event tickets, digipak packaging, bonus CDs and manga/novels, bonus BDs with extra footage. Not generally fanservice unless there is a bonus mousepad or something but that's rare. Any extra fanservice is usually on the main Bluray (no steam, anatomy details, lewd OVAs) which will also be in the regular edition as the content of the main disc is generally the same though the main disc may be 4KBD while the regular edition may be a regular BD or DVD.

Hmm. One notable favservice bonus with the limited edition was Da Capo III which had huge lingerie bath posters as the limited edition bonus. And perhaps the Super Sonico Figure could count as well.

Based on what i heard from my friend, Minimum sales that can be categorized as a successful anime is 10.000 copies/vol, less than it you can say it as a failure or mediocre.

PS : Tsuki ga kirei got 5k sales because they make it as "Box Limited Edition", without this "Limited Edition" i bet it ll go less than 5.000 copies
