Ho ho ha ha
Ranked with the one I look forward to the most at the top, the least at the bottom.
Houseki no Kuni - The main character is an immortal and genderless lifeform tasked to create a natural history encyclopedia. Speaking as a biologist, the natural history encyclopedia narrative angle fascinates me. Speaking as a fantasy and sci-fi buff, the world-building aspects and details that the author and the production staff must imagine and build from the ground up to cater to the kind of culture immortal, genderless beings entail is mind-boggling. This is the one of the truest 50/50 series for me. I am passionate about the living world since before I entered grade school. I've been reading sci-fi and fantasy novels since I was 7. Both of these topics are really really close to my heart and depending on whether it delivers or flounders, this could be one of my favorite series ever or one of my most hated.
Shoujo Shuumatsu Ryokou - I mean, just read the synopsis. It's brewing with potentials from digging deep into the human psyche to tugging at heartstrings. It reminds me of that one interview with one of my country's former rebel leaders and when asked about the tortures he had to face, he said in some ways he welcomed it because he was placed in solitary confinement and it was one of the only ways he could interact with people. How powerful must isolation be that it could drive a hardened man into welcoming torture and bodily harm just so he could interact with people. Heck, it reminds me of Cast Away (2000). Well at least in this story there are two of them struggling to survive together. If they do this right, then we could be in one hell of a journey.
Just Because! - Just because. Graduation and the resulting separation is one of those stories that just hits so close to home. The kind of raw, visceral emotion they evoke in me is so strong. Heck, I remember tearing up when I watched the final episode of Toradora!, when Minori made that little speech in the dub about how if they shine bright enough, they'll see each other no matter how far apart they will be as they chase their dreams. Of all the things that could have brought me to tears, it was that little speech.
Dia Horizon - The preview was nice. That's it. We'll see. Somebody please fix the synopsis though.
Fireball Humorous - Do you even have to ask? |
