When it comes to anime (for me, at least), it seems that at the moment, I'm watching less and less of anime due to a busy schedule. I always put "Plan To Watch" on certain shows that interest me, but I fear that I will have to drop them in the near future.

I don't want to have to do that :/

So it begs the question, how much anime have you put in the "dropped" section on MAL?

The answer is Zero, cause i believe in finishing a show to its completion to be able to judge the show properly. How can you perform this if you quit the show before its finished? LOL

I won't take people's "opinion" on shows they dropped seriously, if I'm being honest.

I have 29 recorded but it's probably more in reality. I didn't start recording them until recently. If I am suffering as opposed to enjoying a show I'm not gonna finish it.

I used to have 72, but I finished them all (or put them on-hold) so zero now. If I'm not liking a show I can just watch it in the background while doing something else so I no longer find much reason to drop anything. Some of them actually turn out to be better than I expected. In terms of franchises there are a lot of anime I've seen one season of and never watched past, but MAL doesn't count that as dropping.

Do you do that with subbed anime? How can you read subs in the background? Or are you a Japanese speaker?

11 so far. I may go back and try to get into a few of them eventually, maybe give some shows a few more episodes, but I don't think I'll be doing that any time soon.

None. I've had a couple specials that weren't fully translated that I had put into on-hold until I eventually just give up on them being translated and watch them raw but I've never dropped anything.

Not many. If I watch the first 1-2 episodes of a show and decide "nah" I usually don't add it to my list.

I can read subs in the background. The difficulty of doing so increases depending on how bad (or boring) the anime is. I found it quite easy to keep up with the subs when I multitasked Etotama while when I did the same with Aoi Hana it was just such a bore that I found myself ignoring the subs after the first few episodes since it was actually painful to attempt to divert any more attention to it than I had to, which honestly isn't the subs fault since I would have done the same if it was dubbed.

200, maybe 300+. I don't always add them and even then, I don't add shows I only watched a single or couple episodes of. I don't add dropped movies, ovas, etc either. Yes, I've dropped movies. This season alone I've probably dropped 10 shows.

I have 10 shows in my dropped list but I haven't dropped something in a long time probably because I'm watching a lot of short series and movies and try to avoid shows that don't seem to appeal to me.

I only have 7 currently however if I can't get through the first episode of an anime, I don't even bother adding it to my list. But that hasn't happened that many times though.

I have 25 listed, but I think I may eventually come back to them because I don't like dropping a show completely but at the time I wasn't considering to put them on hold because I have other shows which take higher priority.

Can you honestly say you watched it if you couldn't even pay enough attention to comprehend what was going on? What's the point if you don't even read or listen to the words?

I only log shows that I intend to finish or have finished... if I do drop something, I delete it from my list altogether. Why do I need to keep track of shows that I didn't care enough to finish?

Well I usually add shows that I dropped after 3+ ep. Sometimes if I found it really bad I add it anyways.

But there is one show that I had to rate after one ep because it was just plain trash. Like I am still sad that I watched that first ep.

Over 200. I don't even care. I am not wasting my time on trash I don't care about and I will think you are an idiot if you finish a show you don't even like. I don't take people's opinion's seriously who repeatedly watch shows to completion just to trash them.

There are good reasons to finish shows you don't like though. You have a job. You are finishing out a genre (so you are a genre specialist). You review everything you watch. Or you are just obsessive and need to finish things (so really your own problem). If it has anything to do with showing how elitist you are to others (so not your job, not your reviewer hobby, not your completionist obsession- just an excuse to be an asshole to fans), yeah pretty much don't care about you at all. And don't come crying to me saying how much anime sucks.

8, but I wont give my opinions on any show I have dropped. An opinion isn't worth anything unless you have finished that show.

I try to watch a show all the way through, but the spring season killed me. I started too many shows that I really couldn't be arsed with.

I've dropped 135 shows, 15 are current seasonals.
I'll try everything out to see if I like it, if I don't I drop.
I don't get why people would want to finish shows they don't like, recently did that with UBW and started hating myself more than usual.
Like, if you want to watch shows you don't actually like, fine by me lol.

I can say I've watched it. I understood what was going on, in fact the lack of things going on are what made me bored of it. You could watch Glasslip raw without paying much attention to it and get the same amount of information out of it as someone who watched it 5 times subbed paying their full attention. Some anime simply have more to understand than others. Shows like Serial Experiments Lain and Legend of the Galactic Heroes can't be watched multitasking without missing anything.
