What the fuck, well, I left common sense behind already.. but still, you can reverse thing like this? Then half of the episode spent on them bombarding the "God"? Not only that, the "God" didn't act when he had the chance? Instead he defends? I don't know man.. The only part I liked was Roy clapping both his palms to use alchemist, that was pretty funny.

P.S. what's with people wanting to be the one to start the discussion thread? -facepalm-

Edit: I forgot to mention, why did the "Father" went for Ed for the Philosopher's stone, but not Hhh?

Fantastic episode. Watching everybody haul attacks at him and actually getting somewhere, Al's sacrifice, Ed's anger - a great finale.

I was confused about him still having God inside him, though. I thought that was what the black ball of energy from last episode was, that shot up into the moon/sun.

That was an amazing episode, probably one of my favorites of all anime I've seen. When Father brought back all the people of Xerxes and then incinerated them all, I was left with my mouth open. And then there was Al's sacrifice to get Ed his arm back, which was fantastic, and Ed's reaction and assault on Father was phenomenal. When everyone was cheering him on and yelling his name I had such an epic feeling and was smiling like a madman.

Only 2 episodes left, this is crazy.

My god the animation was on point...it was breathtaking!
Also, I cannot believe how weird Ed looks with two normal arms XD

Definitely got emotional during the end there and we finally see what it is that greed desires most ;_;
Turns out he's not that greedy after all, or maybe in wanting true, honest companionship he becomes the greediest of all?? Who knows?

Okay, I loved this... but it was a bit silly. If the dude was already weakened, out of all of those people no one but Ed himself could interfere? Like come on, no one was even too badly injured. Why did they sit back and do nothing. Made 0 sense. I like what they did with Ed having to get his arm back but they could've done it in another way that made sense other than people just sittin back, crackin open a cold one, and watching the dude stumble towards Ed. smh

As the title states, it is really a counterattack with flakes, you feel the ardor of the battle and of the souls projected in order to defeat the Father. El screams a little too much, but the narrative is very intense and compelling. The final twist is icing on the cake, nice idea.

That was corny and went into shonen territory. Been waiting for Ed's moment, but not like this. Al's moment was good, but he probably could have tried doing his own alchemy to attack Father first, or to free Ed.

That was absolutely fantastic! Music, art, animation, princess! It literally left a viewer speechless from the epicness presented in this episode.

I loved the moment everyone cheered on Ed as well. :) I hope Al is gonna be back, it was so sad when he sacrificed his armour. :( I have a feeling that Greed is gonna join the fight, as he finally made up his mind with Ling's huge help.

With everyone's collective effort, everyone had managed to let Father use up all the power of his Philosopher's Stones and broke the barrier separating him from mortality!

Alphonse sacrificed his very being to restore Edward's arm so he can finally finish it before reuniting with his body at last. His sacrifice was not done in vain because Ed's kicked the dwarf bastard's ass enough for all of Amestris.

al just sacrificed his soul to save edward oh my goodness these brothers!!!!! they are both so Good!!!

seeing all the distinct characters from so many arcs all working together and fighting and motivating ed was amazing to see, what a momentous fight scene

mustang always has the best entrances and seeing him and riza work together so seamlessly is brilliant, they understand each other perfectly. and now greed is finally understanding what is most important to him FINALLY

this was such a spectacular episode!

This is definitely one of my favourite episodes in the series. There's an abundance of notable moments and I am completely, and utterly blown away no matter how many times I re-watch it!

The fight against Father is quite the spectacle. The characters all have their moment to shine and show what they're made of.

Father blasted away a good chunk of Central Command. Al's armour seriously got damaged in the process and most of the characters aren't in top shape. Greed(ling) shows up and helps take down Father's barrier for a bit, while the others keep attacking. My word, this was such an intense fight! Everyone is just so gotdamn awesome!

Father finally begins to lose control, and a blast blows everyone back. Ed's left arm is stuck and he can't move! :-O Father starts to pursue Ed because he needs energy for his philosopher's stone.

Gotdamn these Elric brothers and their selflessness. It might be so damn stupid, but at the same time it's so damn commendable! Al didn't even think twice. Ed gave his right arm to bring Al's soul back so with the help of May, Al does the reverse and gives his soul so Ed can get his arm back!

I love the conversation between Truth and Al when he got his body back. The former asked if Ed would come get him. When I saw Al's face and the tone of his voice. I started tearing up. He said it with so much conviction, he has total faith in his brother. 😭 Reminds me of the brotherhood I share with my own brother. Effin' hell.

Quick edit: Apparently, I did comment on this episode. Oh well, no rule saying I can't do it again, hahaha.

Starchaser said:
Ling: "Greed, this is what you desperately wanted, isn't it?"
Greed: "Yeah, you're right. This is what I wanted. I wanted the chance to have friends like these."

:'-) That exchange and everyone cheering on Edward still get to me
^My feelings/thoughts remain the same verbatim. Which is pretty amazing, honestly. Greed is the most relatable homunculus for me. 😭

Seeing all of those characters give their support. All you perfect characters! 😭

Everyone just standing there as Father walked toward Ed had no logic. You're telling me that none of the dozens of men in the square have a functioning gun left? That Mustang suddenly can't perform alchemy? That Alphonse, who shows he can perform alchemy, can only do it to give his brother his arm back? Just plain stupid. Everything in the episode leading up to this was pretty good, but the end was mindless.

Also, once Ed does get his arm back, how is he able to rip rebar out of his arm? I assume he can ignore the pain, but it isn't like his returned arm has superhuman strength. He does all this solid damage to Father with alchemy and then decides to close ranks and punch him? At least they are consistent with Ed's character, since he has been about as intelligent as a fruit fly all along.

I'm shaking. So many fucking chills down my spine from how awesome that whole episode was. From everyone fighting together to take down Father, to Alphonse sacrificing his soul to the gate to return Ed his arm and leg back to help him fight Father and live to get him back later after, to Ed kicking Father's ass with some fucking awesome animation that felt like it came out of a Trigger anime (or Gainax anime given how this anime came out before Trigger was a thing). Superb stuff, and just really goddamn epic as a whole to watch.

These final stretch of episodes have been electrifying to say the least. Only 2 more to go.
