@TKMike I don't care about your score, bottom line is that this anime is one of your favorites which makes everything I say invalid. You WILL defend it because it's one of your favorites. And unlike you, I don't stalk Bleach's forum discussions to defend it from every bad word every random user says about it, because Bleach has many many flaws and I know that, I've been changing my score almost every month just because I'm unsure what to put.
Also, could your 'attack' have been directed at anything more obvious? At this point I've gotten used to the "Bleach is shit" thing. It's like me 'attacking' you for giving SAO anything above 5. It's gotten cliché.

That has zero relevance to you not raising valid points, don't move the subject. Also Bleach is undefendable because even Kubo have long since given up on it. There should be no question that the entirety of Bleach is a 4 out 10. (7 out of 10 if you only count the soul society arc). You complain the other-side is a fantard, yet they raise valid points while you don't, so in this case, you are the "tard", while he is the "fan".

BTW, I have a couple of questions to the readers. How does PVP actually work? I see a 3v3 and a 5v5 but how is it structured? The goal? Just pure elimination mode? Is there flag captures? Escort missions? Just one map? Multiple maps? Is warding present? Do they see a minimap while in-game? Are healer spells line-of-sight? How useful are the supports' positioning? Are there dedicated shotcallers or does the entire team make decisions inefficiently under fire or both? Do they had to have equipment level parity? How do they split roles? How often does the top teams scrimm against each other? How are the tournament structured? One mega-tournament running for the entire year or individual events mini-seasons? I assume it's a LAN tournament... yes?

I'm not invested to read the novel so spoil me because I want to cut through the MMO fluffs.

I know it isn't addressed to me, since I'm not a LN reader.

But from what I understood.

3 v 3 is actually 1 v 1 King of the Hill modus. If one of the player wins, they will fight a different player till all players are eliminated. This is why Excellent Dynasty won the 3 v 3 by using only one player(even though it was the tactic of team 301).

5 v 5 is an elimination round aswell, but this time All-Out battle. This is when teamplay is important instead of the individual skill and the mayor reason why Excellent Dynasty lost against 301.

That's all I know.

@TKMike Apparently I called you a fantard, since I somehow fail to recall that, is it true?

One of the aspects of fantard is:
fantards are motivated by blind loyalty.

You said(and I quote):
bottom line is that this anime is one of your favorites which makes everything I say invalid

So yh, that's what you were hinting at. It's a reasonable assumption, since you think I have no obectivity because I simply favorited an anime and will disagree with you no matter how valid your arguments are(which in reality, they aren't) even though my score contradicts with your assumption.

I also deleted my previous comment, since I thought it was a bit too mean of me to post it incase you were wondering.

@TKMike No no no, I may call someone a blind fan, but I won't call them a retarded fan (which I assume what fantard is), that's just blatantly insulting.
Okay maybe I was wrong, if you haven't lost all interest then let me explain myself, that loser that just replied to me is the reason I've lost any will to debate with you, I ACTUALLY tried to reason with him, but he instead didn't listen no matter how much I tried. Also I want to apologize for saying I don't give a fuck, I sometimes get too caught up in the moment and get angry.

Well let's just agree to disagree and drop this convo. We're getting way off-topic to begin with. Have a nice day and don't take the internet too seriously.

Just to make it clear, you were the one who started the debate and when I listed out valid points you didn't bother to answer any of it. So, it was less you lost the will to debate, but more you throw a fit after you were proven wrong. If you are so easy to get angry, than you are really lacking maturity for a debate.

Here are some examples from other games.

Sorry for my poor English _(:3 」∠)_

3V3 is like KOF
5V5 is like WOW 5V5 Arena

just elimination mode

large numbers of maps
no minimap

Healer is like Ana in OverWatch
supports'positioning? may be like Widowmaker in OverWatch
has shotcallers
no equipment level parity

LAN tournament

regular season and playoffs like NBA
20 teams in regular season
8 teams in play offs
2 relegation teams in every season

Only 5 teams had won the championship in 9 seasons
but in one match, mid-level team has possibility to win them

For each match, there are three stages. First it's three 1v1 dual match, each winner gets one point for their team. Second stage is 3v3 kings of hill or whatever the other person was saying. So you start with 1v1, if one side dies, the the next player in line comes up while the winner cannot recover his hp/mp till one team has no more players. This is where sun Xiang' 1v3 happened. The winner team gain 2 points. Last stage is 6v6 group stage. You start with 5v5 on map, so it requires teamwork, with a 6th player that you can choose to switch in if needed. If players die, the 6th player will be auto switched in. Winner gets 5 points. So 10 points in total each match

The Pro league works this way, in each season the 20 teams would have to face each other twice, one time in their home field (in which they get to choose the map for the fights) and a second time on the enemy field (in which the other team gets to choose the field). Each team would have 38 matches (19 * 2), and the top 8 teams with the most points enter the championship. Each match contain 10 points, 3 in three 1v1 rounds, 2 in 3v3 tournament rounds, 5 in 6v6 team fight round, players who joined the 1v1 rounds cannot participate in the 3v3 tournament round, so each team must have at least 6 main players (Most pro teams have 10+ for tactics and replacements).

In tournaments, the score works the same, the teams first have two matches against each other in this fashion with home field advantage switching. If the score is tied, an additional tie-breaker round is added where the map is randomly generated from a set of maps not released by the league, so no one gets home field advantage.

All Pro league games are played in the city stadium of the team that have the home field advantage. With referees and audience, basically every sports arena ever. The two teams are on opposite side of the field, with a super large 3D projector in the middle of the arena showing everything as well as a bunch of screens showing the fights at every angle. Professional commentaries are also performed by retired pros for audiences watching at home on TV.

Home field advantage are huge, as maps can range from simple arena map (no obstacle) to forests (trees can be jumped onto and cause fall damage) to towns (which contain vantage points and great for defense plays). Each team must analyse their team comp and choose the map that maximise their advantage, for example, Gunners (one of the four gun classes) tend to always choose town maps which provides vantage point for sniping and restricts close-range combat, while brawler and strikers (two of the fighter classes) works best in arena maps, were the map is small and stops them from being kited.

Pros are also trained in underwater combat (there is an oxygen meter), and some team specialise in this, as underwater, all the movement, attack speed, and other parameters are different.

In addition, teams have styles, which also function into how they work. There is the shameless style, utilised by Blue Rain which is done through trash talking the opponents into losing their cool and acting irrationally, camping in large maps to make the opponent lose their patient and then insult them. Basically doing anything to get a mental advantage, and once the opponent is tired, they go in for the kill. Tyranny utilise, the brute force approach, their team comp is built around assault, filled with powerful damage dealers who could break through a team's defence. The top 10 teams all have their unique play style which fits into the characters they use, the players they want, and the maps they use.

In team fights, team comp and shot calling is crucial as well as healer. The rules of team fight is that 5 players can be on the field at the same time for a team, with the 6th as the replacement. The replacement comes in two ways, one of the players dies, or the 6th is switched in at the designated swap zone. Voice chat is disabled in league due to Team Blue Rain's trash talking being so prevalent in the early days of league, so all communication between teammates are done through private chat. They are not allowed to chat with each other in real life (not possible anyway, since ear phones, and that they need to pick up all sounds from in game, which pros can use to distinguish where the enemy is coming from), and dead characters are not allowed to say anything on the chat (Again, due to Team Blue Rain's prevalent trash talk). So in a team fight, the core targets tend to be healers and shot callers, either one dying could mean a game lose. Tactics are pinnacle in a team fight, as even the best player could not take more than 2 pros at the same time, in a team fight 1v3 tend to end very ugly for the 1, at best they are buying a few seconds for their team. Grouping is also deadly for a team, as not all classes function best in the same range, too close, you get wiped out by AOE, too far, perfect picking. A team that gets their formation broken tend to not live long.

In the anime, Sun Xiang was a god tier pro, but Excellent Era got destroyed by 301 in team fight, was because of their team work being terrible and having no tactics. Xu Bin, the grind king, is the best knight player in the pro league, him blocking Sun Xiang, meant that EE no longer have their best attack tool. Afterwards they picked off MuCheng's gunner which deals the highest dps, as well as the main protector of the team. (The following is cut from the anime) Then 301's captain went to assassinate the 6th elementalist player of EE who is just coming in, while the remaining three player of 301 is responsible for taking out EE's cleric and the other 2. Without the support of a gunner and Sun Xiang's battle mage, the other three were outclasses once 301's captain finished the assassination. Once most of EE's team are dead, no matter how good Sun Xiang is he can't beat more than 3 pros ganging up on him, and got disposed off as well, ending in 301's win.

301 were confident that Sun Xiang wouldn't get free, since (This info is cut in the anime) the tournament round Sun Xiang had against Xu Bin took 30 MINUTES to finish, Ye Xiu describe that facing Xu Bin is miserable no matter if you win or lose. Most team fights are only around 30 minutes, so EE was doomed as soon as Sun Xiang got trapped by Xu Bin.

Do you need a summary so far? Then here's a summary:

Basically, Ye Xiu, a legend in the game of Glory, was kicked out of his esports team and forced to retire due to politics and such (he can only return to esports competitions a year later if he wishes to return from retirement), and then he found a net cafe and decided to work there. At the same time, the 10th server of Glory was just about to be opened, and so he decided to start from scratch on that server. From there, it's so far him building everything from scratch, from his game character to his team. From the looks of it, he has found 5 potential members so far: Tang Rou (the girl who said Glory was too easy in ep3), Yue Zhong Mian (the guy Ye Xiu keeps calling him Little Moon Moon), the guy who uses brick and sand as his attacks (I forgot his name), Su Mucheng (the legendary gunner who was Ye Xiu's teammate in his previous esports team and is his very good friend) and Huang Shao Tian, who the novel readers probably like very much because of his talkativeness :p. There's probably more to come.

In terms of gameplay, he has broken several records until his Frozen Forest record was broken by Excellent Dynasty, a part of Excellent Era which Ye Xiu was kicked out of. So he and his team manage to break it until Excellent Dynasty broke it again. To which he eventually gave up because they're already level 25 (overleveled). Now, they're focused on breaking the Buried Boneyard dungeon clear record, and he has found a new way to break that record (apparently by exploiting a bug that's the crack).

Yeah, that's basically the gist of it. He's currently building up his future team and trying to break dungeon clear records to set a name for he and his team.

Also Ye Xiu's team only have Tang Rou and Steamed Bun for now, MuCheng is still part of Excellent Era with 1 year left on her contract. And Huang Shao Tian is the core member of Team Blue Rain, one of Ye Xiu's long competitors. He invited him to clear the record, cause the record is meant for 10th server Blue Brook Guild (Aka. one branch of Team Blue Rain's Guild department).

As for why Guilds are important to teams, it is because the silver-tier gears used in pro league requires rare materials in game to build and maintain. A powerful guild in game, means they can steal more world bosses and supply the pro team with better gears. And in order to strengthen guilds, fame amongst noobs is important for fresh bloods. Pro team Guild leaders actually gets paid by the clubs to maintain guilds, so this is their job and they take it VERY seriously.

In fact Rare materials from high level world bosses could sell for hundred of thousands of real life chinese yuan. Clubs would do anything to increase the odds of them winning the next championship.

Search for Tencent The King's Avatar on YouTube. Tencent is the official YouTube channel for the anime.

The first few episodes don't have good official subs 'cause they weren't done by Bayi subs, but they start to get better especially starting from ep5. Note that official subs are one week behind because the latest episode is meant to be premium release, that is, only for those who have paid for the release, so episode 6 official subs will probably only be out this Friday.

Wow. My god, I can actually understand what's going on with these official subs. Thanks, man.

Gotta love Steam Bun!

Another enjoyable episode!

I wonder if YX will convert to a specialized class eventually. I don't think there's any MMOrpg in our current time that can balance both adventure / classless and specialized class well. Specialized class will always have more advantage and reason than classless to use.

yeah, classless means he doesn't have obvious disadvantages while he has to abandon some powerful specialized skills. But as he has said, glory is never a single-player game, so he could make good use of his intelligence to choose the best direction.

Just marathoned this series today, I regret not reading the synopsis of this show. A show about MMO's that doesn't involve players getting trapped inside? It's sad that that's fucking original for an anime. I really hope this gets into e-sports tournament territory, not sure how far the web novel has gotten though. Either way, this is the first Chinese anime I've seen that's actually above average. I knew that Chinese anime would eventually start getting good, but I didn't think it'd happen this fast. I guess they have web novel adaptations to thank, just like almost every other anime nowadays.

It might end after all stars if they rush a lot of things. Likely they will end just before all stars though. All stars is really the first time we get a real glimpse into the pro scene until Team Happy joins the revival tournament. It's fairly hype and would bring a nice conclusion to the season.

I don't think so, or more accurately hope otherwise. He had been playing the game for 10 years, his team won 3 years, but it sounds as if they hadn't won one in a long while, prompting the change. I mean considering how OP he has been as Lord Grim, it would suggest that YX tanked on purpose because he had a greater goal in mind.

At least I hope this is the case, if it really is just politics and "the love of the game" I don't see how this will break out of being average. Here's hoping otherwise.

I have some questions if anyone could give answers to it would be greatly appreciated.

Why did they kick him out? Seems really stupid to kick out your best player. Did the company receive a bribe from whoever that wanted it to happen?

How is he making money? What is his job exactly? Why did that lady give him a place to stay?

I thought he found that weapon and upgraded it?? So why are people saying that he crafted it?

Where/when is he meeting all these people? Steambun, trash talk guy etc. Why isn't this shown? Even if it was during a quest or something or through a chat they could have shown it in at least a flash back

Also, why didn't he just stay with the blonde gunner chick for a while after he got kicked out? Speaking of whom, is she even allowed to team up with him?

This is actually shown in a way. In the case of Steamed Bun, they first met at the World Boss quest (you know, the one where Ye Xiu fought the Buried Boneyard gun boss?). Steamed Bun just happened to be there.

For the trash talk guy, maybe it isn't obvious, but he's a famous player just like Ye Xiu. I mean, in ep6, you can see his face on a poster. He also said about himself having fans. I think that's enough indication to show he's a famous player. And so, you know, naturally, they would know each other. Don't forget that Ye Xiu has been playing the game for 10 years, so he certainly has made friends with many people during that time. Of course, they might show how they first met in a flashback, but probably not now. Either way, I don't think that's the focus right now. The focus is on Ye Xiu building up from scratch once again.

I think this was explained before by someone else, but it has more to do with greed. Because Ye Xiu is already an old player and that he simply refuses to be in any commercial (his real identity is anonymous to the public as you can see), the team and the manager felt he's no longer marketable/has any value to them. It's all about the money. Which, yeah, I feel is dumb (as in those people). In other words, Ye Xiu is a victim of commercialization.

How is he making money? What is his job exactly? Why did that lady give him a place to stay?

Um, you mean before or after he was kicked out? If you mean after, then his job is, well, to tend to the Internet cafe. And that lady gave him a place to stay probably because she saw him as a GLORY game professional and out of pity?

Also, why didn't he just stay with the blonde gunner chick for a while after he got kicked out? Speaking of whom, is she even allowed to team up with him?

She can't team up with him, at least not yet in esports competitions. Remember the part where he was forced to retire? Which means if he wants to come back to esport competitions, he can only do so 1 year later.

As for the rest, can't really answer them (not enough knowledge). Will let someone else answer.

that retirement i think is the chance for MC to put down the responsibility for his old team. Then he can complete some things he always wanted to do but can not do.

Great answer " ) Some additions
The first meeting between trash talk guy and MC is dramatic.
It also involves another character. But that character will not debut in first season. I think that's why no flashback.

There is still another year and a half for the Mucheng's contract with Team Excellent Era. So she can not leave

He is the network administrator of the internet cafe (night shift)

MC did not "find" the weapon. That building where MC gets the umbrella is his personal warehouse.
There is a Chinese sign (warehouse) on that building.

Well, you are in the minority, so :/

Anyway, it's clear that this anime is more for promotional purpose (make people want to read the novel which is free online. And I mean legally free). So yeah. Just saying. Of course, they could have chosen the course of adapting everything in the source instead, but there's always the problem of budget.
Yeah I realised I was in the minority a few episodes ago. Cutting out every meaningful thing and just sticking with mindless action isn't really a good promo. If they really had budget problems (which is debatable) then they shouldn't have made 12 20-minute episodes, but instead should have focused on either making less episodes or decreasing the episode durations, but they didn't which shows just how incompetent the people who made this are.

Also fun thing, if this was a good anime, you would not need to search the forums for the answer about the wall cracks, the anime would have explained it, I don't think saying "it's a bug I discovered in the game" would have been too heavy on their budget.

Its good because it covers the subject matter in an interesting manner that isn't really seen in anime or manga based on MMOs/esports. I can understand the Chinese dialogue spoken, so a lot of the banter is pretty amusing, and I feel quite a bit of it is lost in the translations.

Almost every game mechanic that the anime has covered is something that is seen quite often in MMOs, but something that is rarely ever depicted in other MMO manga/anime. A lot of it kind of requires you to have had those experiences to really appreciate it, because if you haven't been in the situations that the story has covered, you won't get the same type of feeling.

For example, the wall crack used in ep 6 isn't outright explained, but its very similar to pathing/collision-detection bugs/exploits found in a lot of MMOs, and is very often used by pros to speed clear or solo clear dungeons that are made for 10+ players. Its worked well into the story too, as the pro swordsman even jokes about how the MC sure likes wasting time to find new exploits/tactics for low level content.

I've only read the manga, which covered up to ep 4 when the anime started and only goes into a little bit more detail regarding the underlying mechanics, but I think the anime does a good enough job hinting at the mechanics that if you've played a lot of MMOs/MOBAs you can guess the real mechanics and exploits they're referencing.

I like how Ye Xiu fooled Liu Hao and Steamed bun treated him as a newbie with less experience than himself. Liu Hao pretending to be a newbie who worships Ye Xiu was also hilarious. Of course I don't like Liu Hao, but his voice actor definitely did a good job here acting as a two-faced person.

Huang Shao Tian, the character every novel readers have been hyped for, was quite cute. But I have one problem with the way they showed his personality. I understand that they're trying to portray him as a trash talker, but so far for me he's not even close to a chatter box. They better make him talk a lot more in the following eps instead of showing those dialogue bubbles.

Loled at the last scene where Ye Xiu can't stand Shao Tian any more and would prefer to hear Steamed bun sing.

A 4.5/5 ep for me, but I'll round it up to 5 because of the laughs it gave me.

Awesome episode definitely although i really expected more action from Mu Cheng in this ep as the promo showed quite a bit about her.
Would love to see her character development.
And Huang Shaotian was so awesome. You always need this type of guy for fun portions in the fight sequence. Overall 9/10 for me this ep.

But damn it took an extra day for Eng Subs than regular. Really grew weary of waiting those extra hours.

The novel didn't mention it yet. I think that the prequel mentioned it but nobody translated it again ^^'
But seeing how Shaotian debuted back in season 4, I guess they met the first time on Pro stage.
