I see a 3v3 and a 5v5 but how is it structured? The goal? Just pure elimination mode? Is there flag captures? Escort missions? Just one map? Multiple maps? Is warding present? Do they see a minimap while in-game? Are healer spells line-of-sight? How useful are the supports' positioning? Are there dedicated shotcallers or does the entire team make decisions inefficiently under fire or both? Do they had to have equipment level parity? How do they split roles? How often does the top teams scrimm against each other? How are the tournament structured? One mega-tournament running for the entire year or individual events and mini-seasons? I assume it's a LAN tournament... yes? I'm not invested to read the novel so spoil me because I want to cut through the MMO fluffs. I didn't come here to watch MMOs. Log Horizon already exist. The Pro league works this way, in each season the 20 teams would have to face each other twice, one time in their home field (in which they get to choose the map for the fights) and a second time on the enemy field (in which the other team gets to choose the field). Each team would have 38 matches (19 * 2), and the top 8 teams with the most points enter the championship. Each match contain 10 points, 3 in three 1v1 rounds, 2 in 3v3 tournament rounds, 5 in 6v6 team fight round, players who joined the 1v1 rounds cannot participate in the 3v3 tournament round, so each team must have at least 6 main players (Most pro teams have 10+ for tactics and replacements). In tournaments, the score works the same, the teams first have two matches against each other in this fashion with home field advantage switching. If the score is tied, an additional tie-breaker round is added where the map is randomly generated from a set of maps not released by the league, so no one gets home field advantage. All Pro league games are played in the city stadium of the team that have the home field advantage. With referees and audience, basically every sports arena ever. The two teams are on opposite side of the field, with a super large 3D projector in the middle of the arena showing everything as well as a bunch of screens showing the fights at every angle. Professional commentaries are also performed by retired pros for audiences watching at home on TV. Home field advantage are huge, as maps can range from simple arena map (no obstacle) to forests (trees can be jumped onto and cause fall damage) to towns (which contain vantage points and great for defense plays). Each team must analyse their team comp and choose the map that maximise their advantage, for example, Gunners (one of the four gun classes) tend to always choose town maps which provides vantage point for sniping and restricts close-range combat, while brawler and strikers (two of the fighter classes) works best in arena maps, were the map is small and stops them from being kited. Pros are also trained in underwater combat (there is an oxygen meter), and some team specialise in this, as underwater, all the movement, attack speed, and other parameters are different. In addition, teams have styles, which also function into how they work. There is the shameless style, utilised by Blue Rain which is done through trash talking the opponents into losing their cool and acting irrationally, camping in large maps to make the opponent lose their patient and then insult them. Basically doing anything to get a mental advantage, and once the opponent is tired, they go in for the kill. Tyranny utilise, the brute force approach, their team comp is built around assault, filled with powerful damage dealers who could break through a team's defence. The top 10 teams all have their unique play style which fits into the characters they use, the players they want, and the maps they use. In team fights, team comp and shot calling is crucial as well as healer. The rules of team fight is that 5 players can be on the field at the same time for a team, with the 6th as the replacement. The replacement comes in two ways, one of the players dies, or the 6th is switched in at the designated swap zone. Voice chat is disabled in league due to Team Blue Rain's trash talking being so prevalent in the early days of league, so all communication between teammates are done through private chat. They are not allowed to chat with each other in real life (not possible anyway, since ear phones, and that they need to pick up all sounds from in game, which pros can use to distinguish where the enemy is coming from), and dead characters are not allowed to say anything on the chat (Again, due to Team Blue Rain's prevalent trash talk). So in a team fight, the core targets tend to be healers and shot callers, either one dying could mean a game lose. Tactics are pinnacle in a team fight, as even the best player could not take more than 2 pros at the same time, in a team fight 1v3 tend to end very ugly for the 1, at best they are buying a few seconds for their team. Grouping is also deadly for a team, as not all classes function best in the same range, too close, you get wiped out by AOE, too far, perfect picking. A team that gets their formation broken tend to not live long. In the anime, Sun Xiang was a god tier pro, but Excellent Era got destroyed by 301 in team fight, was because of their team work being terrible and having no tactics. Xu Bin, the grind king, is the best knight player in the pro league, him blocking Sun Xiang, meant that EE no longer have their best attack tool. Afterwards they picked off MuCheng's gunner which deals the highest dps, as well as the main protector of the team. (The following is cut from the anime) Then 301's captain went to assassinate the 6th elementalist player of EE who is just coming in, while the remaining three player of 301 is responsible for taking out EE's cleric and the other 2. Without the support of a gunner and Sun Xiang's battle mage, the other three were outclasses once 301's captain finished the assassination. Once most of EE's team are dead, no matter how good Sun Xiang is he can't beat more than 3 pros ganging up on him, and got disposed off as well, ending in 301's win. 301 were confident that Sun Xiang wouldn't get free, since (This info is cut in the anime) the tournament round Sun Xiang had against Xu Bin took 30 MINUTES to finish, Ye Xiu describe that facing Xu Bin is miserable no matter if you win or lose. Most team fights are only around 30 minutes, so EE was doomed as soon as Sun Xiang got trapped by Xu Bin. |

So he and his team manage to break it until Excellent Dynasty broke it again. To which he eventually gave up because they're already level 25 (overlevel). Now, they're focused on breaking the Buried Boneyard dungeon clear record, and he has found a new way to break that record (apparently by exploiting a bug that's the crack). Yeah, that's basically the gist of it. He's currently building up his future team and trying to break dungeon clear records to set a name for he and his team. |

Pro team Guild leaders actually gets paid by the clubs to maintain guilds, so this is their job and they take it VERY seriously. In fact Rare materials from high level world bosses could sell for hundred of thousands of real life chinese yuan. Clubs would do anything to increase the odds of them winning the next championship. |

The first few episodes don't have good official subs 'cause they weren't done by Bayi subs, but they start to get better especially starting from ep5. Note that official subs are one week behind because the latest episode is meant to be premium release, that is, only for those who have paid for the release, so episode 6 official subs will probably only be out this Friday. |

| Just marathoned this series today, I regret not reading the synopsis of this show. A show about MMO's that doesn't involve players getting trapped inside? It's sad that that's fucking original for an anime. I really hope this gets into e-sports tournament territory, not sure how far the web novel has gotten though. Either way, this is the first Chinese anime I've seen that's actually above average. I knew that Chinese anime would eventually start getting good, but I didn't think it'd happen this fast. I guess they have web novel adaptations to thank, just like almost every other anime nowadays. |

| I have some questions if anyone could give answers to it would be greatly appreciated. Why did they kick him out? Seems really stupid to kick out your best player. Did the company receive a bribe from whoever that wanted it to happen? How is he making money? What is his job exactly? Why did that lady give him a place to stay? I thought he found that weapon and upgraded it?? So why are people saying that he crafted it? Where/when is he meeting all these people? Steambun, trash talk guy etc. Why isn't this shown? Even if it was during a quest or something or through a chat they could have shown it in at least a flash back Also, why didn't he just stay with the blonde gunner chick for a while after he got kicked out? Speaking of whom, is she even allowed to team up with him? |

Also fun thing, if this was a good anime, you would not need to search the forums for the answer about the wall cracks, the anime would have explained it, I don't think saying "it's a bug I discovered in the game" would have been too heavy on their budget. Its good because it covers the subject matter in an interesting manner that isn't really seen in anime or manga based on MMOs/esports. I can understand the Chinese dialogue spoken, so a lot of the banter is pretty amusing, and I feel quite a bit of it is lost in the translations. Almost every game mechanic that the anime has covered is something that is seen quite often in MMOs, but something that is rarely ever depicted in other MMO manga/anime. A lot of it kind of requires you to have had those experiences to really appreciate it, because if you haven't been in the situations that the story has covered, you won't get the same type of feeling. For example, the wall crack used in ep 6 isn't outright explained, but its very similar to pathing/collision-detection bugs/exploits found in a lot of MMOs, and is very often used by pros to speed clear or solo clear dungeons that are made for 10+ players. Its worked well into the story too, as the pro swordsman even jokes about how the MC sure likes wasting time to find new exploits/tactics for low level content. I've only read the manga, which covered up to ep 4 when the anime started and only goes into a little bit more detail regarding the underlying mechanics, but I think the anime does a good enough job hinting at the mechanics that if you've played a lot of MMOs/MOBAs you can guess the real mechanics and exploits they're referencing. |
| I like how Ye Xiu fooled Liu Hao and Steamed bun treated him as a newbie with less experience than himself. Liu Hao pretending to be a newbie who worships Ye Xiu was also hilarious. Of course I don't like Liu Hao, but his voice actor definitely did a good job here acting as a two-faced person. Huang Shao Tian, the character every novel readers have been hyped for, was quite cute. But I have one problem with the way they showed his personality. I understand that they're trying to portray him as a trash talker, but so far for me he's not even close to a chatter box. They better make him talk a lot more in the following eps instead of showing those dialogue bubbles. Loled at the last scene where Ye Xiu can't stand Shao Tian any more and would prefer to hear Steamed bun sing. A 4.5/5 ep for me, but I'll round it up to 5 because of the laughs it gave me. |

If you mean after, then his job is, well, to tend to the Internet cafe. And that lady gave him a place to stay probably because she saw him as a GLORY game professional and out of pity?
