Need help, Skype is not working and no im not asking for replacements (now with tl;dr)

But I tried to log on to Skype earlier to voice chat with my brother while we played Minecraft. And it signed me off twice without me even telling it to sign me off. I don't think it ended up forcing me to do the update just yet, though. But at least now I know that it was an issue with Skype rather than my PC.

It was the last Version I had updated to before I stopped using it. Don't know which Version I originally had. You could try that Version as well and if that still doesn't work, check for your blocked Lists.

I used the full Skype Setup from Skaip to re-install the Version 7.27, but I had originally downloaded Skype for Desktop from the official Site, I think.
I have that HOSTS Edit since about a Three-Quarters-Year, as I got too tired of manually removing Entries that block Flagcounters as well. Not sure when exactly I've originally updated to 7.27, but I guess it's about one Year ago.

I sent an email to the main friend im trying to get onn for sayinng im having isues. I just hope she reads it since idk if she checks her email or didnt switch to another account again. I used two email addresses.

I have an i5 3570k at Stock and 16GB RAM, so I don't mind if it runs at 30, 50 or 70%+ CPU and maybe 30-60% RAM due to all the other Browser Windows with Tabs and other Stuff open in the Fore- or Background. The more RAM you have, the more can be used.

It can also be Windows 8.1, since that uses less Resources than Windows 7 (with Quality Reductions of Visuals).

The Memory Usage of the Browser stays up after having it used for a While, even when I only have two Browser Windows with a single Tab open + one with three Tabs right now.

on the latest Skype versions the SkypeBrowserHost.exe is required to display the login and authorization forms.

What are your interet explorer security zones set to? I have internet at high, local intranet medium low, trusted medium, restricted high.

Also i found out whats up with 6.20 version of skype. Microsoft cut functionality of offlline messaging and recieving images on the server end. So they made it so i cant use it the same now. I still can make calls if the call test is anything to go by. So i will be fine till i figure out what versio of 7.xx skype would work right for me

You can just install it over your existing Installation. Memory cleans itself automatically; if more is needed, it will be taken from your Disk-Space (HDD/SSD).

Also, regardless with how you install it, it does overwrite the specific Location and Entries. Maybe if you aren't sure, you could try to change the Path (though I'm not sure if it lets you do this) to a user-specific Place and separate your Shortcuts for the respective Version.

Did you try to clear your Cookies/Cache (from the Internet Explorer and/or where Skype is saving them) and then properly log-in once again?

I've never had the Need for staying logged in 24-7, so I can't help you with that other than suggesting it could be a Cookies and/or Version Problem.

As for Offline Messaging, I'm afraid that it might be server-sided that that Feature isn't supported any more.

I don't find it that unusual to have to restart a Program after updating. You can temporarily disable Auto-Login before you update, clear your Cookies and everything and re-set it back in to Auto-Login after you have restarted your System.

The Question is: do you really need Offline Messaging? I mean, what do you do when you're writing Stuff on MAL? If you know that your Internet Connectivity may go out temporarily, you can regularly back up your Texts in a Word Document or something.

I tried removing all my URLs in the block list in internet explorer and that did not fix the problem logging in to the 7.xx.x.xxx versions

So i at least know shes alive and i asked what email she has working but she still needs me arourd for her and i do have other friends i need to get ahold of on skype. Having skype not work makes me pretty anxious since ive been so used to being logged into it for years daily. ><
