The 18th volume of Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru: Dances with the Dragons, which went on sale today, is announcing on its wraparound jacket band that the light novel series will be receiving an anime adaptation. The format and duration of the series will be announced at a later time.

Synopsis
The series takes place in an alternate world, staged mostly in the city of Eridana, whose territory is half in the Tseberun Dragon Empire, and half in the Lapetodes Seven Cities Alliance. Each half is separated by the Orielal River. In this world, special abilities called spell formulas (咒式, jushiki) exist, which are essentially chemical reactions augmented through special weapons that cause a magic spell-like effect. These special weapons are called Magic Staff weapons, and are as varied as regular weapons are. Spell formulists use these spell formulas to fight with "Beasts of Abhorrent Form," natural creatures that use spell formulas and pose a threat to humans, such as Dragons, Aions, or Enormes. The story focuses on the two main characters, Gaius Sorel and Gigina Ashley-Bufh, the only two employees of spell formulist dispatch office Ashley-Bufh & Sorel Co. They are met with a variety of requests from a variety of clients, all requiring the adept use of spell formulas. (Source: LNDB.info, edited)

The novel series is written by Labo Aisai and illustrated by Terui, with both Terui and Zain illustrating the remake Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru: Dances with the Dragons. The original series, Saredo Tsumibito wa Ryuu to Odoru, had eight volumes published under Kadokawa's Sneaker Bunko label between January 2003 and May 2006, while the remake version began publishing on May 20, 2008 under the new publisher Shogakukan. The 17th volume of the series charted in the weekly light novel rankings for July 18 - 24, selling a total of 4,850 copies.

@Alencia - as you're the only person who claims to have actually read any of this series on this site, any info on what it's like? If you can remember, that is.
There is no such thing as shit taste. Only idiots who think everyone should have the same taste as they do.

Just one first glance at the LN's cover and I knew it's the Rokka's illustrator.

Synopsis is very interesting. I think I'm sold so quickly.

Wonder what studio's gonna take this. Any guess? And, I can't wait for the staff announcement too.

This seems somewhat interesting, so I guess I'll give it a try when it comes out. Hopefully it'll, at the very least, be decent. Like others have already mentioned, I'm glad this isn't a harem.
People on MAL refuse to actually enjoy watching anime.

Your taste in anime isn't a personality trait.

I think it's worth mentioning that the original novel received honorable mention at the 7th Sneakers Taisho in 2002. It was also adapted as drama CD in 2004.

Haven't heard of this series before. The premise sounds kinda generic though. I wouldn't be surprised if A-1 Picture takes this project.

Highly doubt A1 will take this.
If anything, could be Madhouse since this series is full of gore, rape and NTR.

Would recognise Terui's art anywhere xD.
This sounds like an almost classic high fantasy setting , but I'm intrigued by the use of "tsumibito" in the title. Something may not be as it seems here?

Do you realize mahou sensou is one of the most butchered LN in the whole "anime adaptation of novel" history ?l xD

Two main male characters name their office by their names they handle clients requests together. I must watch.
Terui's art is nice and all but I seem to be digging Zain's art for the recent volumes much more.

You are right my memory is bit vague to be honest. From what I remember the volume focuses mainly on battles. It revolves around the use of biochemistry but also mixes different elements such as sword fights, spells, alchemy and even ninjitsu. It also uses some technical chemistry terms from time to time, not sure how the anime is going to handle it though. There's also an amount of settings in this series, like history, world building and battle mechanics.

I'll probably watch this when it comes out.

I actually read something surprising about those novels in the animesuki thread.

shmaster from animesuki said:
This abomination that's filled with psychosis and malevolence is getting an anime adaptation after all these years?
And how?
This series is filled with terribly large amount of blood and gore and sex and madness and everything wrong.
Just how much censoring do they need!?!?

Warning everyone.
The writer of this series is as demented as the notorious Yoko Taro when it comes to writing.
As in, this guy is even more ****ed up in the brain than the Urobutcher.

Every letter he writes down is for the purpose to make his reader as uncomfortable as possible.

Hmmmm...the covers look badass and it isn't ecchi, so I'll give it a try. Hope I'll like it more than rokka (there just nothing happened, the characters were woofing at each other all the time...just an opinion! Don't kill me please!)
