| Came here because the episode 18 thread is cancerous. Can a LN reader spoil Subaru's backstory for me? Personally, Subaru's character and his development has easily been the most intriguing part of Re:Zero and easily sells the show to me (as I relate to him on so many levels). So I've been waiting for the show to reveal his past and I expected it to happen this episode judging by where it was going. |

I doubt he ever said he hated himself, I doubt he ever said before this point that he hated how he did nothing even before he got transported before anything happened he was already broken. His mistake stems from the though that he was 'the mc'' in this world and as such his self loathing side got even more buried. But after what was it 4 encounters? You got to see his self-loathment peek out, this episode was not about some stupid shipping war subplot this episode was about Subaru getting over not only his immediate psychological problems but a deep rooted self-loathment that could neither be understood by himself or others until m'man FreREM went full on couch therapy. |

| However, imo, it would be better if the author had gone to a very strong friendship between Rem and Subaru, it would not change anything in the story, and maybe we would't have this waifu war. But well nothing is perfect. |

| Wow everybody saying how they or other are drowning in salt but I'm drowning in tears after the best episode of the series and one of the episodes I have ever seen in my life. Since I've a watched it a few moments ago I have not much words to describe this beautiful and powerful ep. Now the next big episode will be if they hold the pace ep.21, the next waterfall I will be drowning in. |

| I'm closely following the amazon stalker rankings ever since the episode released. Volume 2 + 3: Almost top 50 -> close to top 10 Volume 1: Mid top 200 -> Top 50 Volume 4: Low top 200 -> Top 100 Volume 5-9: Not present -> High-Mid top 200 And nothing seems to stop them. If this continues we could actually look at a volume 1-9 top 100. |

I think a good bit is because of how she took it. If she yelled and screamed and stormed off it would be one thing. Instead, she agreed to help him get Emilia, swallowing her sadness to make him happy. Even at her darkest sadness moments, she strives to make those she cares for (Ram, Subaru) happy. |

Subaru as has the balls to reject Rem and make his feelings clear. (Yeah i hated Subaru for a moment there VIVA REM) In every other 08/15 Fantasy clische LN Story the MC wouldn't reject one girl because he dont want the hate from the girl. What even more amazing is Rem is no cliche anime waifu from XYZ Harem/LN story and was mature enough to accept Subaru`s feelings for Emilia. She could take this chance and say fuck everyone i get my Subaru now that i love. But she is so mature enough to do the right thing because she truly loves him And ReZero isnt even a romance Anime No stupid awkward confess thingy. No cliche shy girl. Just 2 people talking about how they feel for each other. This is freaking good romance development. Jesus with this episode of character development ReZero shit on all cliche LN/Anime MCs so far. Every stupid Harem/Fantasy/LN MC that never talked to the main heroine or side harem girls about his feelings towards her got shit all over his body right now. Something like this is what i want from a romance in real romance Anime. Something like this i want to see in Harem Anime. Not 12-24 Episodes where nothing happens between the MCs and the girls. Jesus as i said this Anime isn`t even about romance and did so well with this realtionship. |

He concentrated all of his attention to the episode this week as it was pretty much new for him as well. After the episode was finished it became clear that he was speechless and rather overwhelmed as he lacked any words. So White Fox pleased him A LOT. I mean having your LN chapter, the content your wrote adapted word by word into an entire episode is a really big honor and moment for him. If this isn't showing the utmost respect to him, then I don't know. Maybe he will add something throughout the week :) |
