Agreed with OP about the comedy. It's silly and ruins the atmosphere... I don't know where this show is heading in terms of storytelling. Who are those people behind the Kizuna system and what are their goals exactly? Really hope we'll find out next week because I've been disappointed with episode 2.

Did you really just ask for the show to explain the goals of the secret organization in the third episode?

I did. And you know why? Because it's not a mystery show. A mystery show gives little hints throughout the show until a big revelation later on. It's not the case here. As of now, The Kizuna System sounds like a writer's fatigued ass-pull.

I actually really enjoyed the comedy though I wanna see it as a darker anime. For some reason, I really enjoy Katsuhira and Sonozaki's interacfions. I don't know why. :D

I didn't really expect their secrets to be like that(except Chidori's confession and Maki's 'I killed someone'), I liked it, especially the one with Yuta being fat.

Yeah the comedy is definitely killing this show. I also wish they didn't use the childhood friend trope

This was pretty impressive. Idk whos best chara anymore. Nico isn't some creepy girl thank God. Chidori is a voice of reason. Other characters are fun, too. Their interactions are nice and I can spot some good pairings. I'm enjoying this a lot more than I though I would. Still feel Sonozaki is a little too quick at punishing at times bt oh well. No secrets between the party means potentially strong bonds. Feeling a lil hyped now. Also I doubt Mari really killed anybody but we'll see.

I-if it it's "serious", "dark" and "m-mature" then it must be good. C-comedy is for kids but I'm a "mature" adult and I only watch cool shows with lots of gore and drama a-and that makes me really grown-up.

Just lol @ you guys.

A show can have mysteries without it being blatantly called a mystery show. We don't find out the Anti-Spiral's goals in Gurren Lagann until episode 20 and that wasn't a mystery show.

Fair enough. I liked the serious atmosphere of the first episode but have been really disappointed with the silly 'comedy' of episode 2 so I guess I'm impatient to know more. Eager to see how this show turns out.

For me, anything good about this show is largely being overwritten by the fact that Noriko is an absolute psychopath who has shown herself to be utterly unlikable so far.

Oh, and this is way too slow for a single cour, if that is indeed what this ends up being. Really, not an awful lot has actually happened these couple of episodes in terms of a plot itself, especially after just needlessly spending an entire episode on characters telling their darkest secrets to each other, which apparently instantly makes them friends according to Ms. Psycho Bitch on her crane above the rest.

As much as I don't like when I can foresee how a anime will end, I really can't see where this anime wants to go, these two episodes looked like a closed arc.

"I killed someone" Yeah girl,Ichigo also killed his mother.

"I don't believe in faries! What? How could you chunny-moe-Chan?! (Cries)

The show wants to keep a nonsense atmosphere but I don't really know if they are doing a good work, the scene of the bridge parts forming a kind of a X don't make any sense, and the MC past also don't make any sense. These mindfucks aren't a joyful mindfuck where I fell pleasure like monogatari (sometimes), it is more of a painful fuck ,just like raping. THIS A ANIME IS RAPING US.

With this kind of setting for the mystery, I fear that this will become a new kanojo ga flag

It seems to have taken the time tested formula of 'show, don't tell' and decided to turn it on it's head. While that was ok for this episode, I don't think it's sustainable over the long run.

I really don´t know why people want this so hard to be a serious Anime. Just looking at the artstyle, I think it´s more suited for some comedy as well. I think the characters are okay so far, Tenga and Yuuta are the best though. Nico is a bit annoying, but not too bad.

What a crazy episode, the mood was very bipolar and I loved it. Maki definitely had the most shocking secret she didn't want anyone to know.

He comedy is a little off, but that doesn't change the fact that this is one of the most enjoyable shows of the season so far.

i did not take any of the "comedy" as a comedy. Its not like there were jokes.Id say this show is trying to be bizarre and eccentric rather then comedic.

also it was dramatic and serious enough for an introduction episode

Okay... what's the complain?
Comedy ruins the atmosphere? Come now: serious all the way is boring, we all know that.
Those SnK copy antiques should stay away. This is how you do a serial: keep the tones, all the types of vibes of the show, on the right balance. Too dark it gets boring, too bright it gets too light. .

And nah, this is comedy. Eccentric "absurd" comedy is also part of comedy genre.

Good introductory episode.
We got to know each protagonists in decent to good detail... well, apart from Sonozaki, whose identity probably is plot-related.

Nice pace. Continue on, Mr. Director, and all the anime staffs.

"Now everyone is going to hyper diss me about being fake". Life's truths, right there.

This was a very interesting way to give exposition about the characters in an overt way, but without it being stilted or hamfisted, all while giving us a bit of action in the form of a survival game. Glad they got some preliminary romance stuff out of the way so it's not agonized over throughout, and the mixture of comedy and intrigue was just about right.
How to fix the review section, detailed here

The average reader (HS level) reads at about 200 WPM. So a 500-800 word review should take 3-5 minutes to read. That's an acceptable length for something you're interested in spending 25 minutes to 4.5 hours of your life watching.

Oh, and ANN requires any and all reviews to be 800-1200 words, no matter the length of the show.

Enjoyable episode, You can definitely feel the dark atmosphere, even with the light comedy going on. The system does feel a bit silly at times though, I would have expected them all to get hurt when Katsuhira dropped and hit the wall in that container. Beside that, this is so far on my top list of series of the season.

No, it is just the show is crap. rapid tonal shifts every two minutes makes this show boring especially when the characters are generic anime archetypes. It also doesn't help they choose Okada for this type of anime because her melodramatic style is terrible in action series.

Why are people complaining about the comedy? Are we forgetting what studio this is? I thought it was a great system. We already knew about the kizuna system but apparently they will be forced on missions. That creates some very interesting set up. I like how they had to reveal all there secrets. By knowing other's pain, you can connect with them on a more personal level. That seems to be the idea of this mission which makes a lot of sense, even if some of the secrets are stupid. I was really surprised at the end when she said she killed someone. I thought she was hiding it because she was so stuck up are serious so i thought her secret would be something embarasing that would be really funny and stupid, like the rest of the characters. They did kinda hint it though with the ending theme, she is standing back to back with another character. Also like the confession. Normally i dont like forced romance but considering they have a history it is much more believable. Cant wait for the next episode, i love the visuals and the anime is getting really interesting.

Those two teachers selling off their students for the sake of the experiments is just... despicable...

As funny as it is seeing Agata being thrown around like a rag doll, all the craziness of collapsing the building and dropping Chidori and Agata onto that safety mat amidst all that rubble and not getting any of them injured at all was way too contrived as heck. That part with the dogs bursting through the window was pure Resident Evil/Biohazard.

Love the animation to bits, but the story itself seems AWOL at the moment.

So now they've gotten their worst kept secrets out of the way, I'm hoping that the next "missions" will involve something more than just talking and some batsu-game....

Seems that Kiznaiver is having the same problems as Bungou Stray Dogs: deceiving PVs. Both assured us that they were going to be dark and serious, but turn out to be forcefully comedic most of the time. Bungou Stray Dogs just did a better job at it.

My thoughts are... mixed about this show. The animation, art style, music, character designs and overall theme are quite good, but the execution is awful. The characters themselves are not fleshed out, the writing leaves a lot to be desired and some parts of the show clash with others. It's very scattered.

Yet something tells me to keep watching. Maybe it's my faith in Trigger that's saying it.

TL:DR Mari Okada and Trigger's styles are clashing and it is ugly.
