Way to go, My Hero Academia ! We'll probably be seeing the earlier volumes in the rankings for a while now that the anime has started. What can I say, I'm happy for it.

How is Bleach's backlog doing 63,989, is it getting advertisements somewhere....
And does the world trigger databook count towards it's total...

I'm still kinda shocked it hasn't got one already. It would really benefit the series. Like Gintama, it would probably be much better animated due to jokes being able to be told better through animation, voice acting, etc.

World Trigger data book is counted separately, as its weekly series total for the Feb 29~Mar 6 week is lower than the sales of Vol.14 + the data book.

175,538 for World Trigger as a series for Feb 29~Mar 6.
219,785 for World Trigger Vol.14 + the data book for Feb 29~Mar 6.

Not the best start for snk vol 19, this is the lowest snk volume for its debut since volume 10 I believe, but snk has long legs. It will gain momentum later down.

15. *,*44,407 *,*44,407 Shingeki no Kyojin: Lost Girls Vol.1

Annie hype! It even sold better than the before the fall spin off on it's debut! This will probably get a ova after snk season 2.

Academia getting 120k backlog sales already! Nice boost!
Lol at Dragon Ball Super, that's pretty poor. And Samon Kun only a few K behind Seshiji and Hinomaru, seems to be gaining popularity. I like others would love a Saiki anime someday, because it will never get scanlated so us westerners cant read it :/.

Also didn't realise AC was only like 200k behind Shingeki in first week sales. I know the gap will grow, but I didn't realise it had gotten so close.

Snk release April 8th, meaning this is only 3 days worth of sales, while Assclass release on April 4th, 7 days worth of sales. Not to mention the fact that this volume sold the least in its debut since volume 10. The gap hasn't gotten closser.

Not even 800k for Shingeki is low. I'm sure it'll catch up to the previous volumes, but here's hoping season 2 hype will make the urgency to buy the next volume come back.
5 main aspects I base my ratings on:
1. Did DramaEnthusiast make a thread about it?
2. Is it better than Breaking Bad?
3. Did MellowJello recommend the shit out of it?
4. Has it caused a (very entertaining) shitstorm on MAL?
5. Is it actually good?

Scratch the fifth point, it's not very relevant...

Seeing One Piece so far ahead kind of makes happy and sad at the same time. SnK should be selling better when its 2nd season airs whenever that will be. It will provide the much needed competition.

That Jojolion volume is selling like wonders :)

Snk wont even come close to One Piece in per-volume sales.

There is not even a new release date. The manga will return with chapters in weekly shonen Jump next week.

So is HxH's next volume appearing next week or the week after? Or when?

There is not even a new release date. The manga will return with chapters in weekly shonen Jump next week.

HxH volume 33 has a planned release date for 3rd of June 2016.

also its actually there is a reason SnK can't reach OP
One Piece gets one more volume per year , and it has 62 volumes more for people to buy(SnK with 19 and One Piece with 81)

Nope, its not beacuse of that. One piece sells around 1 million more per volume, so even if One Piece has 3 volumes per Year it still would sell better.

2014 proves otherwise , SnK overcame all odds in 2014 and was only 150k behind One Piece.
One piece had 4 volumes that year and SnK had 3(If OP only had 3 that year it would have been behind obviously). SnK also sells more than 1m per volume

Are you kidding?
One Piece had 3 volumes out in 2014, just like SNK, and SNK had much more backlog sales that year. Also why are you telling me that Snk is selling more than 1 milion per volume? I never said anything like that, I said that One Piece sells more per volume, around 1 million more.

One Piece volume 81 had 7 full days right? Then that makes this the lowest start for any volume since since the strong World boost started five years ago. I'm surprised that the sales haven't been bolstered at all by the recent trailer of the Film Gold released a month ago.

Shingeki no kyojin also had its lowest three day start since the 2013 boost three years ago. The latest voumes of Shingeki no Kyojin have all had slower starts than the preceding volumes but ultimately sold better overall due to better legs. It'll be interesting to see whether it'll be the case here as well.

Volume 72 -November 2013
Volume 73 - March 2014
Volume 74 -June 2014
Volume 75 - September 2014
Volume 76 - December 2014

I even added the volume from november since the yearly sales are from november to november.

there was a hole in my argument(SnK had 4 volumes in 2014) and you didn't see it because you are a fan of OP.

You only look at the month of release??
Ill have to explain this.
One Piece Volume 72 came out november 1st and the Yearly sales started november 18th. So it was not released in the Year. Also Volume 76 was released December, but the 2014 sales were only counted until November 16th, so Volume 76 was also not counted. So you were completely wrong. This is over but do you realise that even if the volume was released in november 1st and the 2013 yearly sales closed off in november 17th every sale after november 17th will count towards 2014 which in that news you posted it is listed with 600k. your post made it seem like you didn't that's why

My point was never about volumes sales though but about overall series sales and how comparing the two in a completely fair way is not possible.

especially since manga sales seem to fluctuate.

-_-You seriously need to take off your fanboy glasses for a second. First of all the dude is a one piece fan, second thing, all he wants to see is a little competition, that's what he wants to see, so when one piece wins it is much sweeter. He didn't say he want snk to win.

Also everyone that follows the weekly manga thread knows that one piece is the best selling manga in japan, it has been #1 for close to a decade now? No need to constantly remind person the obvious. unlike you, others love competition because that's more interesting and exciting. Having no competition is boring, I guess that's how you like.

Snk is the closes competition to one piece, but it has a huge disadvantage for being a monthly because it only releases three volunes a year compare to weekly series that releases 4.

You've probably been following the manga sales since last year so you're new to all this, maybe in a couple of years, you will get bored seeing your series being #1 constantly with no competition.

Have I said that he thinks that SNK will win ? I only said a fact.
And Im also not new to manga sales, just because this account is from 2015. I like seeing One Piece get nr 1 every year, because of all the haters that always that the next year it will be overthrown, and it never happens, so they just start crying :DDD.

The point is, he is hoping that the 2nd season of snk will hopefully make this manga sales more closer between first and second. What you're saying is not facts because you have no way of predicting if the second season will have any effect on manga sales or not. So basically you don't like competition.

Ok, answer me this, when snk was leading in the first half sales in 2014 and one piece came back and beat snk in the full year by only 150k, tell me wasn't that one of the sweetest victory every? Or is it it sweeter when one piece wins by a landslide?

Which one do you prefer? When onepiece win by a landslide every year? Or having a close competition where you're not sure if onepiece will be #1 for that year?

It's good to have competition in everything. Also one piece isn't the only one that has its haters, snk has its haters as well, just like every series.

Your right, I dont know, if SNK will get to One Piece lvl with 2nd season, but almost everyone would say that its incredibly unlikely, almost impossile for any manga to have sales like One Piece. Even Snks current lvl of sales is extremely hight and is probably in top 10 sales per volume for any manga ever.
About the competition, yes I was incredibly happy that One Piece won that year, because almost everyone thought that SNK would win easily that year and that One Piece was finally dethroned and only a top 5 series. But you gotta know thta One Piece is my favourite Series and I want it to break as many records and sales as it can, so it will be a legendary series when its finished, which it probably is already, but I want it to have the number 1 spot till it ends so it will have a record that cant be broken. Also I want to have a win by a landslide, because it would just show how far of a gap there is and thats just cool to have your be named the King that cant fall or things like that. If it would have competition I would rather have it competing against series, that I like too, but that seems unlikely, the only one that could be considered a threat to One Piece from my other favourites is Kingdom and even that is highly unlikely.

If it would have competition I would rather have it competing against series, that I like too, but that seems unlikely, the only one that could be considered a threat to One Piece from my other favourites is Kingdom and even that is highly unlikely.

Ok, I see your point as well. The haters will still hate it, no matter what. Also, if I remember correctly it has lost to death note and nana, so I don't think it can get the title of the king that can't fall.

I honestly think you should try and tone down your fanboy in you a bit, because if anyone says sonething that's slightly threatining to one piece title, you get on the offense. And that can get really annoying.

For eg. If you see someone says "I hope boku no hero will be as big as one piece in the future and probably even beat one piece as well. "

This is how you would reply to that comment. " boku no hero has no chance of beating one piece, one piece sell over 3m per volume blah, blah.

You really don't need to react like that all the time, especially when it's just wishfull thinking from that person.

Ok, but most of the time the things im saying are right and I dont make up something to defend it atleast. Also yeah it was beaten, not only by those 2 also in the first year it was not best selling. The point of that statement was that it would have like 20 years in a row of being number one and that would be unbeatable. But I understand where your coming from.

If One Piece started around mid 2000's or at the same time as SnK I doubt it'll be popular as it is today.

Why? Something happened in mid 2000's or at the same time as Snk that changed how people like and buy things?

Kinda curious about BnHA. Yes, it's had a boost, but not a huge boost, at least not yet. Curious if it's going to pick up steam over the next several weeks and possibly past the anime's ending.

Yup. Started serializing at a perfect time after Dragonball ended. And Shounen Jump lacked a similar manga to it.

Then why other series in shonen jump that started around the time that one piece started failed to achieve that?

You do realise that a lot of Japanese people that buy the one piece volumes today are people who got into one piece in 2010 and 2011. at that point it was the peak of one piece and the amount of volumes it had did not stop people from getting into it 13-14 years later.

Ouch those One Piece sales took a pounding. The previous volume sold 2.11 million copies in 7 days and this one only sold 1.85 million copies in 7 days?
