THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Well that was kinda interesting although a lot happened especially at the mid-half. I like how P.A. Works retained their art style this time around.

I like Yukina so far, she seems like a kind girl. But when shit goes down with the mecha, that's not good for anyone. There's quite a bit of sci-fi themes in this show so far and the UN Kurobe Research Institute is responsible for some of the major research going on. Good amount of technological aspects involved in this show, I think this has potential. Ouma's debut is so lewd

Not a single human casualty. So what it's gonna be? A serious drama or just a light-hearted adventure for a bunch of young adults play out like every drama PA made before? I can see it won't have a serious tone but what is its identity? It can't be just a mix of every mecha comes before it.

The hand-drawn animation is very good looking. Although I wouldn't mind the 'lively' female characters in the first-half, but I prefer using animation as part of the story-telling, because looking at the way they walking down the stairs and their hips moving while walking it doesn't tell me more than what I need to know already.

It seems like they took care of the needs of everyone by presenting the guy naked, and even that it still feels bland somehow probably because the dramatic weight hasn't been clear yet. Would it be more engaging to know a few things about this guy right at the beginning? I don't know how to think of the situation if I don't know anything, he could a nudist, and the scene wouldn't be as bland as it is.

As for the mecha fight well...it's good looking again? How good the fight is when your enemy is utterly incompetent? At least it shows some teamwork?

Not the most impressive, but it's very familiar, keep promoting that local tourism you are so known for PA.

inb4 fish out of water comedy next episode & someone rant about whether or not the naked guy 'mistaken' the black guy as Oni being a racist joke.

Not sure what to think of it.
PA does stuff like this as well?

In any case i have to say it looks nice to i wonder how no one managed to cut themselves with all the glass lying around.
Especially the naked guy that called the main girl hime.

As expected of P.A. WORKS, the visuals were great and the scenery porn was there. Gotta say, I loved this first episode. Can't wait to see what this show has in store. P.A. WORKS doing something they normally don't makes it even more exciting. Liked the music as well. But I do gotta say, seeing a naked guy fight was kinda awkward. Lol.

The visuals are amazing, tipycal of P.A. Works.
About the story, it was interesting, but nothing outstanding. I like all the characters, specially Yukina and the relationship she has with her mom was funny

Visuals are nice. Story? Not much happened until the end but it was pretty cool. What is that naked guy? An alien or someone frozen in time? He called Yurika a princess. That ED is good

Visuals were top notch, but the anime itself felt really boring. As most people have already mentioned, the premise and story is lacking. The characters aren't too bad though.

No. At least, not yet for the audience outside Japan. Netflix got exclusive worldwide streaming rights. No date for outside yet. Basically the same case as Ajin. It'll take months before people can see it outside of Japan if no one else will sub it.

Too bad fansubbing is dead. No one will pick up mecha, because it's most hated genre recently and I doubt gg will be doing more than one show after revival.

What is the problem? I wanted to watch this anniversary show but no french or US "simulcast" company announced it (to the point I had forgotten it).

Any other country's availability please? (I can use an IP thing)

Fansubbing is basically dead. There is no group who commited to make subs for since everyone thought it will be picked up by CR/Funi. Also, it's mecha from studio that never did them, mecha shows are hated massively recently due to shitload of wrecks like A/zzz or VVV, if it was Xebec or Sunrise there would be hopes, gg picked up Macross so I doubt they will do anything else.

Thank you. When I see the amount of mindless things purchased by those services... this is an anniversary project, they are usually made as an exhibition to promote a studio. This kind of thing should be available -_- (more than light novels and manga advertisement shows).
So, studios should always do the same thing in order to sell in the West, nice idea -_-"

Well, I hope Francd will get a cheap DVD release.

PS: my excuses for the out-of-topic messages.

It was so much fun, it's like a slice of life, but with robots stuff(dat naked samurai too).
The production is top tier, a lot of Sakugas, and overall fluid animation.
(but the characters designs are a bit bland)

Nice start, hope it keep improving(and that i don't need watch the RAW at every new episode)

Since this isn't on Crunchyroll or Funimation, maybe in the next days, who knows.

This is the same case as Ajin, the quality will be most likely bad.

@Tyrel,
I think I saw somewhere that Netflix will be streaming each episodes worldwide one week after the original air date. Can't seem to find that anymore

Now , everywhere it says unannounced airing date for worldwide streaming :{
Means that I'll have to wait for some fansubbing groups to pick this up.

I don't mind Netflix getting their hands on this. 3 months isn't that long, and we're getting it in full HD then too. Most likely including multiple dubs.

Still, very looking forward to this. I hope the scenery porn is as good as everyone's saying it is.

Its so weird watching a PA Works show that is a mecha series lol

That was actually pretty decent though....I've seen worse mecha series out there, and this one managed to impress me a little so that's a plus for me

So far I will say that I absolutely love the OST of this series and that I find the mech designs to be pretty nice and especially the one during the post credits scene

The characters that we got introduced to are pretty good but this episode left me with a lot of questions about them, mainly for the naked samurai dude who called Yukina a princess, so I wanna see more on that....Visuals were great btw

The story is fine too as long as it's expanded upon more but for a pilot episode, it did an okay job for setting up the world

So it's about a girl that like river, dam, also space creature. And she even put it in her "future career" form?! And then meet a man that think she is the "Princess"? Sounds interesting to me. LOL

That's right, dude. Don't forget to take a picture of it.

It has been a long time since P.A. did a good show and it doesn't look like this will break the bad streak. And yeah, subs were bad so another reason not to bother.

Edit: Seems like I was wrong about the bad streak of P.A. They just make bad series, period. Out of 8 I've seen from them, only one was good and most of them were utterly terrible. Sure, good animation but it seems like they usually work with bad source material or writers or directors or all the sam time... This might be the Comet Lucifer of this season.

Nice animation and beautiful scenery. I liked how they animated the movements of the characters as well, though things got clunky once or twice. Loved how they managed to censor Samurai dude's privates with Yukina's frantic fidgeting.

That said, thought of samurai-like alien warriors attacking the earth gives off some Nobunaga the Fool x Aldnoah x Captain Earth mashup vibe here. That said, I do like the characters they've shown us here, bar the potty-mouthed pilot that is.

Let's see where this story takes us. I'm all for a Samurai Hero that Time Travels Demolition Man style.

As usual, P.A Works delivers its goodness of visuals. I assume this wasn't as impressive as the others but it still looks neat. Also the CGI doesn't look that good, but not that bad either. Could have been better.

The story so far its interesting, but although I do think its kind of generic in a sense in some areas. The samurai guy seems interesting as well so I'm curious.
