That was really enjoyable, I remember reading some of the manga half a year ago.

Looking forward to the second episode.

It's just the first episode but i'm kind of disappointed, it has been hyped for month so i was expecting more, that's not bad or anything but there wasn't anything special.

Pretty funny, but there are little extras that showed how Deku and Bakugou were originally planned out to be. Not exactly spoilers.

Anyway, Deku was supposed to be about the same, but his design showed him a bit more messy? Somewhat long hair that covered half his face. Or rather, his hair length was the same except less curly

Bakugou was supposed to be a timid kid that was a genius or something but still powerful as well, I think. Pretty big changes lol

People throwing out the generic word so casually and calling it shit yet at the end of the day, most of you all seem to forget that it's how you handle the generic stuff is what really matters

If only you guys knew just how different this series is when compared to everything in WSJ right now lol....Especially Deku as a main character whom already showed how analytical and intelligent he is which is something that is rare these days in WSJ

Lmao you guys haven't seen anything yet but it's truly sad that there are still some people that will write off a series just because they've seen certain elements in it before

Op and ED were alright not great as everyone's hyping them.

They sure made it a point to concentrate on Deku's bullying and hopelessness of not having a quirk :'(

You can't judge an anime on what it might be, or it will be in the future if you did not read the source material, so it's perfectly normal for people to speculate based on the information that was given. It's nothing sad about this, it's just how the way the episode was constructed made people like it or not.

Also, where exactly did Deku show signs of remarkable intelligence? Ok, he was analyzing and documenting the powers of other heroes, but nothing too fancy or something to rate him above other MCs so far.

Slow and boring start.

Talk about narrative inconsistency; in a world where being a "hero' is apparently a job, apparently bullying is still socially condoned ? Plus a useless teacher who notes that use of powers in classroom is forbidden, but turns a blind eye to his student being abused in front of his eyes?

Not a fan of the pacing either, taking a whole episode to grind down the MC with abuse and to show his starry-eyed hero worship is draining. They should have started with a more interesting angle and told his back-story later.

Quite clearly, this is a show meant for kids with its juvenile approach and over-the-top flash.

Dropped.

I can somehow understand the hopes to prove their worth and clever tactics part, but that's far from being exclusive to Gon. As a matter of fact, I'd say a majority of jump protagonists share those traits. However, I really can't see how Gon's and Midoriya's respective personalities are even remotely similar: Gon is a very upbeat, cheerful kind of kid who's pretty extrovert and fearless, and whose crazy potential is acknowledged by everyone around him, including himself.
At first glance, Midoriya strike me as pretty much the opposite: sure, he and Gon share the same passion for their goals and everything, but he definitely appears as someone who's much more shy, nerdy and introverted than HxH's MC, and bit cowardly as well. To top it off, he seems to have some severe self-esteem issues (only reinforced by his status as a quirkless individual and the the treatment he's getting from his peers as a result), which is a problem Gon never really had to deal with.

As for your second point, well again, the features you mention don't strike me as exclusive to HxH at all, at least as far as battle shounen go. Then again it's only the beginning, so I'll see in the upcoming episodes if the similarities between the two series become a bit clearer but for the moment, I have to admit that I really don't see them at all.

If you judge his character and intelligence based on the first ep alone of noting down characters, then idk what to say. But yeah, you will see what that means later.

Well, the second point is meant for latter parts, so yeah on first impression it doesn't look like.

Again, abt the first point, it will get more clearer as you reach the end of the series, abt what you mentioned self-esteem.

Yep I'm loving this series already. It's everything the promos and manga readers hyped it up to be. I'll probably pick up the manga soon (Either after this season ends or during) because it definitely does seem like the next big shonen action series. Best part is that it starts out similarly to Naruto in that Izuku is an underdog, and its always hype to root for the underdog.

I don't judge his intelligence, I pointed out that contrary to what Tokoya said, the MC did not show an intelligence that differentiates him from other MCs in this particular episode. Will he become a badass genius later on? I don't know, but for the moment my opinion of him is 100% based on what they showed in the first episode, and it will change with each episode based on how they develop him.

i like this slow pace...
sometimes slow pace can be better..

prob they'll adapt until chapter 21 if they still stick to the manga and don't give this series an original ending...

if they follow manga story i'm pretty sure this series will receive another season like another series in WSJ like Haikyuu, kuroko, and the others.

Solid first episode, seemed pretty faithful to the manga, pacing was a bit slow but considering the big cast I think it's a big plus

I wish people would stop calling this generic, first of all give it a chance, secondly something doesn't have to be groundbreakingly original to be very enjoyable

What a fun first episode! Those people complaining just make me laugh! You know, when you watch a battle shounen, there are always some cliches. And some things might come across as childish. But it's a battle shounen. I love battle shounens! The pacing also seemed fine for me, it moved the story along quite well. Now those of you who don't like this fun battle shounen can just miss out. It's fine. We all have our own opinions. I can't wait for the next episode!

I wonder if All Might will sound different when

I guess something I didn't like is how they handled the bullying for Deku. Also the scene with his mother was much sadder and heartbreaking in the manga but this was decent.

Can't wait for

I hope they have their best animators on that episode.

I agree and vouch for everything said here.

Everyone here is judging the show too fast, Every battle shounen especially all the major ones all start out slow, BnHA is no exception to that. You guys could give it a few episodes at the least before censuring it.
That goes for Deku's character as well, He hasn't even shown what he can do.

Terrific first episode! And no, the pacing was perfect, anyone who says otherwise has no idea what they're talking about. The first chapter of the manga is huge and packed with story, I knew there was no way they were going to put all of that into one episode. Which is completely fine.

The episode was really enjoyable, I'm just ready to see some real fights.

Mt. Lady was as perfect as I thought she'd be animated!

I really like Izuku's story, that's what makes this series so great. You can't help but feel so sorry for him when he learned he's quirkless.

OP was decent, but I liked the ED a lot better. It reminded me of OG Naruto back in the day.

I really liked the voice actor for the MC I was never really fond of squeaky voice so I think it's super cool, I also like the animation and colors they really did a beautiful job and I also like that the MC is not OP it's makes you feel a connection and I genuinely felt bad for the main character when it was announced that he would never gets his quirks.

On the downside a lot of the characters look bland I just hope they will develop them.

Also I LOVED the opening it really hypes you up for the show and I can't wait till next week episode I'm hooked

Just because it's a shounen , it's ok for the characters/story to be that way? I`m not saying they are, but I`m curious. There are plenty of examples of shounens that have well developed plots and characters.

Everyone keeps calling it generic, but I actually won't disagree. The thing is, being generic doesn't automatically make it bad. However this first episode wasn't even the entire first chapter of the manga, so I think it's a bit too quick to say it's lame and generic.

It's also definitely too quick to drop it, as I've seen some people say they want to do. Wow. You aren't even giving it a chance. That's fair though, some people will know that they aren't going to be into this kind of anime at all.

But may I just say that opening (by Porno Graffiti... these Japanese band names...) is SO CATCHY. Can't wait to see the rest animated.

It's almost a spot on adaption, and frankly I'd prefer if they stuck to that and ended it after the usj arc, it's would be better than them rushing the absolute hell out of it.
