| In every season there's always some over-hyped anime that fills the forum with cancer. They come out of nowhere , gets intensely overrated/ popular , and when they finish airing they drop like nothing ever happened. Summer 2015 had Overlord/Charlotte , Fall had OPM, Now there's Erased ( which got massively high rated and already dropping ). So what's going to be the next Over-hyped ones? That aside , the real question: Why does anime get over-hyped in the first place and what actually causes this ? Re: Discuss man, discuss! | Series being hype is mostly because of the source material, if a lot of people like the source material the hype will start from there. It also has do with the potential the anime has and because it may have something unique about it that attracts viewers eyes. It also needs to look good art/animation wise. For the spring season. Boku no hero acadamia, kabaneri, jo jo ect. Seems like the hype series for spring season. There is a great chance we will see multiple hype series for the spring season. There is a lot of potential in the spring season. |

Anime annouced and people who read or played the original source get hyped and tell others. The Anime then gets annouced as to which season it comes out, people who read the blurb or were already excited for the anime get hyped and tell others who might be interested. Episode 1 comes out, people lose they minds and start overhyping how good the anime is, at this point mainstream viewers probably come in and get hyped as well. Half way through the season, people say how amazing it is still even if the quality of the anime has dropped a bit and doubters+late comers go to watch. End of season the community is split due to the anime not having a good ending, being too slow paced, not living up to episode 1 standards etc etc, while the people who loved it will praise it in all its glory. Something like that I guess. *shrugs shoulders and goes away for cake* |

| Koutetsujou no Kabaneri Very obvious variation to AoT, even aesthetically with steam-punk spidermen, bound to have similar reception as the original had and eventually audience will split in between between those who see it as superior and those who prefer the original. Similar situation was with SAO and Log Horizon, now also with Grimgar, people see similarities and ignore differences until the late of the series where show either proves to be better or worse. Erased is (considered) next Steins;Gate. Virtually all show being next something will get the hype. |
