When exactly did that happen? I haven't watched F/Z in a while so you'll need to refresh my memory on that.
I'm not sure but I think it was in episode 8 or 9

But WHAT happened exactly? What "small mistake" did Saber make? I don't remember the show ever doing anything sexist other than the encounter with Gilgamesh at the end.

She wasn't "strong enough" and that was "disappointing but then again ur a womyn so xDxD" or something like that and Saber's just standing there like "huh?? huh?? huh?? Yeah maybe you're right :o :o :o"

It's been a while since I watched the show so my memory is not 100 % fresh but I remember that I got pissed

Also since nobody else has mentioned it I will. SAO is sexist.

Got to agree, and it has at least two villains known for mistreating women in it (Sudou/Oberon and Sinon's stalker). They are bad people in general, like Gilgamesh, so you might want to claim they weren't sexist.
But at least Sudou quite obviously ignores Asuna's will completely. And her parents aren't much better.

@Comic_Sans Is Urobuchi really known for being a misogynist? I've seen both Madoka and Psycho Pass but I was never really under the impression that those two shows were sexist in any way.

Most things from before the late 90's especially OVA's. There are a lot of exceptions though like Rose of Versailles and Utena.

There were so many things that were wrong with Puta Madoka that I didn't notice anything sexist (though it wouldn't surprise me if there was)

Psycho-Pass, not really, there were one or two rape scenes and some fanservice (both sexes) but that was it

It didn't have anything to do with her being a woman .They criticized her because her method of ruling as a king was incorrect (or so they so claimed) .They just added that she should have lived her life as an ordinary woman since her path was such a painful one to follow .

Wikipedia isn't really a site for anime but seeing as how its info is overseen whenever edits are made ,then that's a pretty good summary of the ep .

if only it was just her, we could debate whether or 'ot the criticism she got was really due to her being a grill. But when literally all the women in the show get the sexist treatment, you can't help but start to see a pattern.

OT: dont know if her/his Tsugumi Ohba is pretty notorious for the sexism that usually permeates his/her works. Case in point, Bakuman chp. 2, which couldn't get more blatant.

Maybe I was wrong about Rider then (good, because I actually liked Rider)

However, that doesn't excuse Gilgamesh's constant sexist remarks and the fact that every time he said something, Saber was just standing there like :ooooo

Pretty much all of them were either plot devices and/or had no personality

Let's talk about something that doesn't often get talked about in these forums which is sexist anime characters. Not too long ago I re-watched Fate/Zero, and though I still love the series very much I found Gilgamesh to be extremely sexist, funny but sexist. I re-watched that one scene where Gilgamesh is proposing to Saber while throwing swords at her, he tells her to lay down her sword and become his bride and when she refuses he literally throws more swords at her saying that he never asked for her opinion and she will do as he says. Very awesome/funny scene and yet so sexist. So other than that which anime characters do you think are sexist?

Now explain to me how is that sexist ? Gilgamesh doesn't ask males their opinions either... That's one of the things that make him such a great character. Gilgamesh doesn't have to accept opinions, by HUMAN's logic he is superior to those filthy humans. Do you ask an ant's opinion ? No, well you're a fucking asshole if you hate Gilgamesh for that.

Comic_Sans and NaCl and everyone else saying Gil is sexist ,
No way Gilgamesh is sexist. It's just his character not to take weaklings seriously. He wouldn't be half as good if it wasn't for his arrogance and badass personality.

If Gil were more naïve , he would just turn into another Archer and I seriously wouldn't want that.

But Saber was just painful to watch. I'll agree on that part.

I love manly characters. It simply fits them to oppress women to nothing more than a tool. Most female anime character are useless and annoying anyway, so they can at least be of pleasure value. Please don't bash me feminists or else I will atatatata you to the kitchen.

I also remember Hamna Yujiro. That guy killed the husband of a woman in front of her and forces her to be the mother of his child, simply to raise his son to the strongest fighter in the world so that he finally has a worthy opponent.

Well, I mean, there's sexism in every medium out there if you look long enough. And with anime they have some very strong female leads and kickass characters.

Besides isn't that guy you used as an example supposed to be a dick?

Nami from One Piece, though she is a weird case in that she only cares about money. Still, there is a noticeable difference in the way she treats the guys by beating them up all the time, extorting them and generally not caring much how they feel and the girls such as Vivi and Robin to whom she is much nicer.

Sanji is an even straighter example. He's quick to fall for anything female, even an enemy as long as she is hot and he says he will protect the girls in the crew but could not care less what happens to the guys. It's a very old-fashioned attitude conveying that men should be able to protect themselves no matter how strong or weak.

Reminds me of Seirei Tsukai no Blade Dance. MC is the only boy in his profession (because boys usually don't get magic powers), and the girls think he's the demon lord who wants to sexually enslave all of them (for no reason except that they are perverted themselves). And occasionally attack him with overpowered magics because of that.
Well, a lot of them end up falling for him, so they might have been right.
