I'm very curious to see if anyone on the forum has bought or is planning to buy a WiiU/Xbox One/Ps4 (and why you have/haven't gotten one). I don't call them "next gen" but "current gen" because they've all been released and people are playing them now. I honestly could have bought a WiiU or Xbox One around Christmas time (ps4 was sold out everywhere) if I sold most of my games + my 3ds and Psvita, but I just didnt feel like sacrificing games I already own for a recent console. Right now I am saving for a Ps4.

I'm getting a Ps4 mostly because I believe this will be the current gen console that will receive the most RPG titles (this has been true between Playstation, Nintendo [consoles not handhelds] consoles since ps1 I think), and I play mostly Role Playing Games, even though there are 0 out for any of the three right now I believe. Right now I have a Ps2, Ps3, PsVita, 3DSXL, and an original X-Box. I have 2 laptop computers but they are too crappy to play anything above Game Boy Color or SNES level emulators. Don't feel like saving and building a gaming rig instead, never liked building stuff, especially not intricate computers.. Also don't want my computer to crap out on me because I've been playing hardcore games on it lol.

Xbox One and WiiU intrigue me, but the ps4 potential and its tech specs are what swayed me to save for it. If I do end up buying another console, It'll probably be the WiiU unless the XBONE actually gets a number of good exclusives (not the case with 360, seemed like it had mostly multiplats I play on my ps3). I almost want to impulse buy a WiiU instead of a ps4 for Super Smash Brothers 4, but I'll pass though. I'll be getting an inferior version of it for 3ds, still better than nothing though..

I have gotten an PS4, only because I happen to come across it while shopping at best buy and decided to purchase it. Wanted to wait a bit (like around summer 2015) but the price was pretty decent and I had the cash to get it. Only got one game for it through. Planning on getting more but my PS3 backlog is also kinda big.

Got no plans to buy anymore consoles as I dont have the financial ability lol.

PC masterrace checking in

I might get a XBox One down the road, simply because the kinect / TV Cable guide thing seems interesting and "feels" 2014'ish

No. I haven't seen any games worth a console yet. My PC is keeping me busy enough right now.

TV feels last decade-ish. I've been watching all my shows downloaded for years now.

The wife / kids use the TV/cable - still think it would be cool to voice control / gesture control stuff; feels futureistic

I don't have time to watch TV, gotta increase my powerlevel

You can give it away now. FromSoftware are not developing a PS4 version of Dark Souls II.

As the majority of people have said already; "Nope".

I haven't bought a console since the Dreamcast bombed and we were reverted back to 64-bit graphics on the account of Sony wanting to cheap out on hardware.

Why not?
Because I already own a PC and even if I didn't have a PC, I could buy a PC with better specs for the money I could blow on a console, not to mention they usually make you spend a little extra cash on the console versions of the game.

I Bought The PS4, sold it back after 1 month and bought back a Dreamcast and 64 instead.

Why: Games are not stable. Not enough games and a lots of them being delayed. Games are not that good really i liked the old ones more (Battlefield,Killzone,NeedForSpeed). Still i wanted to wait to play ElderScroll then i heard we would have to pay every month to play it and i was like euhhhhhhhhhhh. And still i wanted to wait to play PrimalCarnage but it looks like they gave up on this game.

Nothing better than Ocarina Of time and some good old Sonic anw

I'm not buying consoles anymore until at least a few years after release for 3 reasons.

1. More games
2. Cheaper
3. Potential hardware and/or software issues

Number 3 especially. Had to learn a lesson the hard way with a first model 360, PS3, and to a lesser extent, launch Wii.

Nothing beats the PC experience.

You got controllers? PC too.

You got exclusive games? We got emulators.

You got better graphics? No, you didn't, silly.

All hail PC!

This, my PS3 broke about 1 month after I bought it, and my 360 about a year later. Worst $1000 spent in my life.

We don't have playable emulators for the PS3/4, Wii U and Xbox 360/One. I'd like to play some PS3 games, but I can't.

I think you've been told this before, but you just ignore it.

Hmm, are you implying that there's a working 3DS emulator floating around?

A lot of those people that bought new consoles probably won't be on this forum talking about it, lol.

Considering I'm poor and cheap, buying 400 dollar consoles and 60 dollar games is out of my realm of possibility. Besides, I'm too much of a sucker for MMOs to even need console games.

There's absolutely no reason to buy a "next gen" console this close to launch. They will be cheaper and better later, and then I'll be able to see if there's even any interesting games coming out at all too.
Call me back when PS5 is out, maybe Ill get a PS4 then.

I will not be buying one of these for the foreseeable future.

I have an X360 already and my next console will probably be a PS3, simply because I consider gaming to be an exploration of art and there is a lot of good stuff out there for the PS3 that I haven't experienced yet.

Another reason is that I currently do not have unlimited high-speed internet. My current internet is a 6GB/month prepaid mobile broadband, and it is moderately reliable, but nowhere near sufficient for playing online games or downloading games to a console.

I've got a Wii U. I'll probably get a PS4 at some point unless weird Japanese game suddenly start showing up on the Xbone along with a cheaper price tag. I refuse to pay 400, 500 dollars for a gaming device. So until I find some amazing deal (that price ain't dropping anytime soon.) I'm sticking with what I have.

Probably not, especially not if the games he'll want are released later in the platform's shelf life.

I'd like to start gaming a bit again lately, but the Wii doesn't seem to have many interesting games announced yet other than the new SSB and Mario Kart 8, while I don't feel like gettin' a PS4 if it doesn't have playback feature, and I don't have a PS3 while there are many ps3 games I want. As for XBox...for some reason I've never been interested in their consoles :/
If the Wii U ends up getting lots more games then I'll probably end up getting it and use it to replace my broken Wii.

Though in the end if I ever get the money for something I'll probably end up getting a better PC instead.

Why yes of course I will. I'm so excited about all the new games coming out. But I have not bought my PS4 yet; I will wait until they release one with bigger storage capacities. I bought my PS3 when it was first released and the very limited storage space was not convenient. That's why I'm going to avoid a repeat of this problem by waiting before getting PS4.

Won't be buying any of them, I have no use for them now that I do majority of gaming on PC. The price of games where I live for consoles is ridiculous anyway, I would rather spend a fraction of the price on PC versions where the graphics will be better anyway.

I know; and that's my plan. I just don't have much time to pop into the store and get the new HDD and back up everything etc. I will do it eventually. I still have tons of games to start and nearly no space at all.

I have no intention of buying PS4 until entire MGSV is out.

By that time price of console will most likely be lower, and I believe there will also be some more interesting games, maybe even some completely new titles.

I have PSP, PS2 (although, I'm thinking of upgrading my PC for PSOne / PS2 emulators which can upscale games up to 1080p and run in 60 fps which is perfect for my FullHD tv), and also PS3 for which I played only few games, and there are many PS3 titles that I didn't tried out yet.

So, it's not like I won't have anything to play until I buy PS4.

Update: I went and got a new HDD after all. It was very difficult to walk out of the store without buying a PS4 but I did it somehow. I have spent all day yesterday upgrading my PS3, backing up data then restoring it, restoring my trophies etc. It felt good; I went from my old 80gb HDD to 500gb. I teared up from happiness. games make so emotional, don't talk to me.
