He's thinking of 12 episodes as a season.
I understand the math..but since when was that a definite value for a season XD..
Anime seasons are 12-13 episodes. 12.5*5 = 62.5.
I thought the amount of episodes in an anime season varies, guess I was wrong?

If I remember correctly (I just recently read about this when I was trying to figure out why Shikabane Hime series were running concurrently, yet titled differently) 24-26 is the length of a season and 12 is a cour(sp?).

I loved the way Winry was hitting Al with a wrench as a humorous effect at first, then turned into a more 'dramatic' (if that's the word) scene.
Only FMA can do something like that.
=)

The flashback was heartbreaking to me.

That's sorta how I see it. One example I can think of from the top of my head is CCS, it's got 70 episodes but it's only 3 seasons. So that's about 23 episodes per season that series? But even so, each season for each anime is different...

Plus kuroshiroi calculate it all as if to assume that each episode covers a fixed number of chapters...which I don't think is true

kuroshiroi said:

That's only if the seasons for FMA:B is a.."cour" (as noteDhero-san said - btw, where did you learn that term form anyways noteDhero? I'm curious, I've never heard of it before)? And only if each episode covers a fixed amount of chapters :P

Well, however long it's going to be...I don't think there's going to be a lot of people who would object to that XD

Modern anime seasons/cours/whatever are usually 12-13 episodes. The fact that you think otherwise is... odd. Also, anime starts airing 4 times a year, January, April, July, October. So 4 seasons a year with 12-13 episodes per season or around 1 episode per week.

Sure, there are shows with an odd number of episodes, like CCS, but most shows are 12,13,24,25,26,39,50,51,52 episodes which are all multiples of 12 and 13.

Edit: Failures fixed.

The math makes sense, but refer to what noteDhero said, I think the whole season thing is regarded differently whether or not it's concurrent

I got it from a random thread in the Shikabane Hime discussion forum I think. People were questioning why it "ended" in December and then Shikabane Hime: Kuro came in January (not to mention that some subbers were doing Kuro when Aka hadn't even finshed). It was a really random way for me to have found it.

But just like in America there isn't a set number of episodes in a season (except for 24) sometimes, if the show is on cable and it's an hour long, it could be 12- 18 episodes, and sometimes if its a half hour comedy or something, it can be 18-26 episodes. But generally 22-24 is the average here, with 24-26 being the average in Japan.

It is easier to remember in Japan since it all pretty much flows with the natural seasons.

I think you guys might just be confused with my usage of the word season. I'm not talking about the one season a year thing American TV shows use or how shows are packaged for DVDs in season box sets.

Typical usage of the word season with respect to anime: "Which shows are good this season?"

Anyway... 1 page of off-topic is quite enough :)

We are just at chapter 15 ( out of 95 already released and 10 to-be-released chapters). I would not say thats "fast pace".
105/15*9 = 63, so... 63 episodes over 5 seasons?

That would not be entirely correct, considering each episode covers different amount of chapters. For example Ep3 covered 2 chapters, while Ep4 only 1 and so on. Its not possible to just say, cram 3 talking chapters into the episode the same way you would cram 3 fighting chapters.

I adored this episode. Some pretty humourous moments. And the touching scene with Ed and Al on the rooftop.

Also noticed Izumi and her husband walking behind Winry as she called to Armstrong. ^^

Ross slapping Ed and the aftermath pretty much was my favourite thing this episode.

Really not looking forward to the next one, but will watch. :((

Wow you guys rock at not foreshadowing sinister things for the next episode for people who are not familiar with the storyline.

I hated this section in the original series, simply disliked it here. So an improvement, at least at this segment of the storyline.

I can't say much apart from what has been said, but I can't help but agree with some in saying that this was one of the more moving episodes so far. And thinking about it, I really appreciated the way it was handled here over the way it was in the original series. Definitely one of my favourite episodes thus far.

Episodes like this makes me realise the reason why I love FMA so much. Yes the humour is great and the characters are fun (Winry, u rock!!) but one thing the really makes this series so great is the bonds the two brothers share and the will they have to find a way to undo the mistakes they had done.

Great episode.

GOD, it's so good to see this chapter animated!! It's one of my favorites, and this was such a tear jerker episode. Not that the coming ones won't be either... But I can remember how the first anime handled this series and all I remember is Al jumping off the roof. This episode handled it so much better.

I love Winry! And I really liked this episode, I was folding laundry while watching it but I couldn't keep folding because I kept being so drawn at the whole conversations with Winry and Hughes, then Al. So sweet!

Aaaah so much drama I'm going to melt. It's really good to see Ed and Al get back together again. Now that they'rein good terms, they're going to start pawning enemies again

Anyways just like everyone said, Winry was full of win in this episode. Those slaps and those lines were really dramatic although it made me laug because at first AL was the one who's really sad and then Ed became next and Winry next, lol it's like a chain.

Oh and that scene of Scar, the guy that was shown in his dreams, was he the same guy in prison too? Kimbley or something? I wish they show us Scar's past.

Wow, the way this was handled was so much better than the original series. I thought the other series made Al's worries far to melodramatic and drawn out while this was handled very nicely, and maturely, by Ed and Winry. A great episode of bonding for the two brothers and nice development for Winry.

Great episode, all things considered. It's interesting how this series seems to be more comedic, yet somehow it comes off as more mature than the first series to me.

Brosh made me lol when he talked about Winry as Ed’s girlfriend :D
Hughes made me laugh as he always does, when he irritated Ed about Winry being in his room :D
Then the birthday, where they all screamed “KAWAI!” => xD
And yeah, Hughes was convincing enough with his gun xD

For the serious part.
The moment when Al looked at the robot was really sad, one of the most serious scenes to now =\
The moment between Ed and Winry was dramatic too. It made me remember how much I admired Winry, and how happy Ed must be for having her at his side.
The part when Hughes explained Winry the case with Elric brothers was done at least as good as it was in FMA if not better.
The moment when Al asked Ed his question was more dramatic and better done than FMA. And once again, Winry is the best friend any would wish for. She really understands them even if they don’t talk to her. I just hope Ed realises this now, before it comes too late.

Great episode I do think the original expressed it better with Al running away and having an episode dedicated to find him back but still this version was quite nice and compact the role winry played in this really suited as well that in the original version just was explained from bro to bro!

i actually think this is much better than the first season.

Winry had a bigger role here than in the first anime, and they Ed actually won the fight when in the first season he still lost to Al.

yeah i notice Izumi on the background too :P

amazing episode!!!

next episode is gonna be sad T____T
