It actually is a filler, because the creators wanted to expand the series to 52 episodes. I think that if you remove all the fillers in this series and maybe speed up the pacing in some episodes (it gets deathly slow in some parts) you can make this a 37-episode-or-so long anime. But I guess the producers thought that as an unconventional length so they opted for 51 episodes. The end result was generally good, and I commend the creators for making a good original story from the manga. But just so you know, Fullmetal Alchemist: Brotherhood is far superior. First FMA anime: 7/10 Brotherhood: 9+/10 |

| soo stupid that guy ignored her true love right till the end. now karin has to mourn for him instead. how the hell do you not recognize your lover??? just because she looks old doesn't mean her love for him disappeared all those years. the only thing bad about this episode is that they didn't explain the relation between him and the Elric's father. other than that awesome episode as always :) |

| well again someone who seem interesting goes away and in the end seems evil :( later on in the episode when Klose was like a girl again i was a bit surprised how she looked not that it was her cause that was obvious but i mean when she look as boy she didn't seem to have long hair and now a night later she has so her look surprised me. |

| Wasn't a fan of that out-of-the-blue reveal that Karin was there all along. Pretty decent if obvious filler otherwise, at least it had some relevancy to their father. |

| Episode overall less brilliant than the previous, but the plot is interesting nonetheless. The plot device is the classic throwback before the events at the beginning of series; oh well! The auoconclusione of events narrated only has the advantage of showing how a practice can become at the same time both benevolent evil depending on how you use it, a classic.But also it shows that the alchemists are like all men, have their weaknesses as their obsessions. |

| It was a pretty decent self-contained episode. Majhal certainly didn't deserve Karin; he was apparently just lusting after her. Again, the transmutation didn't quite make sense. Majhal turned a little screwdriver into a much bigger short sword. I thought you could only create something with as much mass as what you started with. I get that this is filler, but this show is blatantly breaking its own rules without any sort of explanation. |

I'm uncertain which other errors you're talking about, unless it Is referring to the rule breaking the philosopher's stone does. |

| I'm sure all the wildlife in that river appreciated being frozen to death but i guess it was better than let someones cloths get wet. Besides that it's ridiculous how fast they are able to drawn the alchemy circles. The alchemy circle is not simple enough to be drawn in one second yet that's what it seems to only take. And third thing i have to complain about is that how did such a small knife turn into a sword? It clearly has more metal in it than the original piece so it shouldn't have been possible. |
| Really bad episode compared to the very solid first three. The stupid reveal that Karin was the old lady the whole time was ridiculous. Very clearly filler. |

When people ask questions like these, I question in return if they actually pay attention to anything that's going on. Also, what's the deal with filler complaints? Think of the side stories as side quests to a video game. Just sit back and enjoy the ride. |
