This is not important but...this show is not aesthetically appealing to me. It better have moral or emotional heft to make up for that.

Best episode so far! It was really beautifully done. I hope the rest of the series is great, I'm always afraid when animes have over 26 episodes it's gonna suck or drag on. Crossing my fingers about this one ^_^

i always love to know about people there past in anime and sure did like this to only i don't hope it was to fast cause it could have taken a interesting mystery away.

i wonder from who they learn all of this if they already know this much it means there teacher knows even more and if there are hidden teaching in the national alchemists it means there are people who know even more.

would be a big surprise if they find out that there teacher was there father with out them knowing it at the time but seems impossible cause i believe they hinted it was a female teacher.

I'm really liking the idea of this show. I like how it has it's own laws of physics. I can't wait to see what unfolds - the backstory has already gotten me emotionally invested in the brothers and their journey. It makes me wonder if they'll ever get their bodies back. That'll be an emotional moment. I'm looking forward to watching this.

Winry's face when she first started inspecting Al's new armor body! lol Too funny!

Best episode yet! I suspected it would take a while longer before finding out the details of what happened the night they tried to bring their mom back, but I'm glad it didn't. So Ed's arm was sacrificed to save Al! And part of me is glad that we didn't get a better look at what manner of creature they created instead of their mother... *shudder*...

So sad, but very enlightening! -- 5/5

Great episode, the narrative void left earlier, was caught and apologies to fit the pieces of the puzzle are credible. Satisfied.
The plot becomes interesting, the soundtrack is great and can conigare good screenplay, springs from a story very dramatic and melancholy. WOW!
Good growth of all the characters, great job of Bones; opening and ending very beautiful.

This episode was a step in the right direction. I probably would've liked starting here better anyway. I don't need instant action gratification.

Hopefully they'll continue with this backstory and flesh out the world and alchemy a bit more.

FMA takes place in a fictional fantasy world. It's not real alchemy, this world's alchemy is more or less magic.

It's represented as science so no. If the author and makers of this show didn't have what it took to pull it off then they should have just made them have magic.

And it's not real alchemy....did you meant that it's not our chemistry because alchemy was largely pseudo science.

You're in luck because, if i remember correctly, they don't ever say "chemistry" and "chemist", they say "alchemy" and "alchemist". So yeah, not based on any real science. You either go with that, or you don't.

If you think these early episodes are bothering you, just wait until later! :P

I don't think you are getting what i'm saying. Terminology doesn't matter at all. I only mentioned chemistry because you were the one comparing alchemy of FMA universe to alchemy of our universe.

The alchemy of FMA universe is suppose to be scientific (this is established in the first episode where they lay down the rules of which alchemy follows) unlike the alchemy of the real world which was largely pseudo science. There is a good reason why modern chemistry isn't called alchemy and there are no alchemist anymore (besides few nutjobs)

It doesn't matter that what is possible in the show isn't possible in the real world. What matters is the context of the show and the show immediately breaks it's own rules which equals shitty writing.

I wouldn't complain about realism of the show if the show hand't established what it did. If they could shape any matter to anything then therew wouldn't be no problem but wasn't the case.

Complaining about "shitty" writing and "breaking it's own rules" Is pretty rich when you ignore said rules for the criticism you put forth, so you can complain about the supposed missuse of the word "science" which has a completely different context in this universe.

Please don't equate shitty writing with your own inability to get past a single word.

Christ dude, are you still mouthing off? FMA has its own set of rules. It's a fantasy world. Get over it. Otherwise I fail to see how you can enjoy ANY fiction at all, let alone anime.

I'd definitely stay away from any science fiction if I were you, LOL!

Ehh, I thought this ep was alright. The backstory felt insanely cliche and rushed though. I could pretty much predict everything that was gonna happen within the first minute.

The show does seem pretty interesting though, and the fact that it's so ridiculously highly rated gives me hope. Can't really judge it until like 10 eps in anyway.
