| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Ah, we get a bit of a breather while still seeing the super powers ratchet up. Lots and lots of fun! It's very rare to get a chance to feel 9 years old again, and this series gives that feeling very well. BTW - It was nice to see some daylight scenes again. I hope that not all of the battles will be at night. |
| Shin Mazinger Time of Death: Episode 06 Reason: Imagawa's slooooooooow pacing is starting to bite the series in the ass, unsurprisingly. The actual content of the episode wasn't terrible, but all of the reused footage and the fact that this could have been done way better in half the time left me not even paying attention toward the end, which is pretty much the death blow for a super robot show. I guess this will be another Gurren Lagann where if I pretend that half of the series didn't happen I will be able to consider it really awesome since I'm sure Imagawa will turn shit around with an epic final streak of episodes a la G Gundam. |

| First half was kinda meh since I don't like the narration like that, fast forward and then flashing back but atleast the second half was better where none of that happened and it was awesome seeing Photon Beam again in good visuals. Also that woman is still I know nothing about since she's not in anything previously Mazonger Z related, so mysterious. |

| What the xxxx?! Yet another episode about that night! Stuffing us up with almost all of Mazinger's abilities and almost the whole background mythology in the first five episodes (not counting the in-middle ep 1) was terrible. 2/5 This is the work of a well-known director? o_O Safe to guess that the two most important evil/shadowy figures will be that exclusive character (Nishiori) and Ashura 2.0. Let's hope that Kôji, Sayaka and co will get room too. |
