I liked this episode. I think we can see how much Nanami has grown.

Another good one, It's pretty cool how this series takes all these seemingly insignificant characters and develops them like this. It's true it's somewhat formulaic but so what? The story telling is great regardless.

So I been busy and kind of put this series on hold for a bit but I have time now so I popped this ep in planning to marathon it and was instantly reminded why I stopped watching. So. Fucking. Stupid.

Why in the world is everyone so embarassed about getting a sword pulled out of them, especially when Anthy goes through it daily XD. It must be a very strong feeling of some sort

I must be one of the only one who actually likes the staircase sequence. And Anthy calling forth the power of Dios... it all sends shivers down my spine. :)

this arc is becoming a bit too formulaic for me.. every episode is pretty much the same thing.. I also put off watching this episode for a couple of days and at the moment there is nothing making me want to watch the next episode.

The earlier episodes were great and I couldn't wait to watch the next one, but that has sort of died down with this arc :/ I hope they move towards a conclusion soon enough and not keep this same formula too long..

Another repetitive episode without much substance. But I was warned before hand that it arc was pretty sucky, so this is nothing not foreseen.

This is actually one of the very few episodes I enjoyed so far. Putting aside the formulaic structure, this episode, at least for me, actually stood out from the rest of the show with the overall tone and scenes being different. The screening room scenes and the shot with Tsuwabuki sitting on his bed were great.

And did anyone else notice that Tsuwabuki wasn't wearing the black rose at the start of the duel but then it magically appeared after she drew her sword? That was bugging me since it wasn't like that in previous episodes, at least not the last one.

When I saw him say what he said at the end in the booth I knew that he would be the strongest opponent thus far as far as black rose duelists go. Sure enough, he was, but still got beaten quite easily with the power of Dios. Still, I gotta' say. Dual wielding was kinda new and interesting to see.

Whelp, that's his entrance into adulthood via deflowering. Nanami's slightly in love now?

Duel wielding is kinda cool though.

Okay episode, it's getting kind of repetitive though.

These guys are really desperate to kill the Rose Bride if they even have to use a kid.

Don't tell me Nanami fell for the Tsuwabuki xD

Considering the shadow girl was talking about donating blood, I'm thinking the sexual references in the show are actually all misleading.

Tsuwabuki had a crush on Nanami... why would you duel Utena and try to kill Anthy? :-/

I think it came out pretty clear in his elevator scene... Anger and frustration at being "left out" of adulthood. It hurts a lot... and some folks just want to watch the world burn. To do that, you need to attack the source of power.

Another good episode for Best Black Rose Crest arc. It was about less important character again, but they handled it a lot better this time.

There was a lot of sexual innuendo in this episode. Mitsuru's friend who's a year ahead of him...she's only in fifth grade and she knows of the phallic imagery of a banana? Chill, girl!

"You and I have done some adult things together, haven't we, Miss Utena?" Anthy has no idea what she's saying...those boys do though :3

And there was the whole sequence with the shadow girls...though she did she say she had her "first time" in a car. Is she suggesting that she donated blood from her car?

Hopefully the Black Rose incident has changed Mitsuru for the better, so he can focus more on what he can do as a gifted kid. Though, Nanami blushing at the end...does she remember what happened in the screening room?

Would have really liked Nanamis words to Tsuwabuki would have stopped his fall in to darkness, but instead we get another virtual identical episode. With how quickly it happens followed by another almost identical battle makes it a bit hard for me to get invested.

So all it requires to draw out the sword is to touch the person, can't really defend against that.

And after it is over they forget all about and there aren't any consequences either. Not a fan of this arc.

Grant this kid a cookie. He was way more mature than some of the brats on Mal's forum.

"With each passing year, a star loses some of its brilliance." That's not true at all. Main sequence stars actually grow brighter as they age. Akio is a total hack, he has no idea about astronomy. Watch out Utena!

I kind of liked the visual direction of this episode, e.g. the scenes in the screening room and the shot of Tsuwabuki's reflection on the wet pavement.

First time getting bored watching Utena, i find things to be way to repetitive at this point and no other development really happens.

So Tsuwabuki is Nanami's black rose counterpart, RIP I thought that was going to be Touga. But anyways, this means that filler episodes aren't filler, they are canon.

Lots of sexual innuendo in this episode, what is this, Evangelion?

Okay this is getting kinda boring now. As everyone else said they keep repeating the same formula. Black Rose finds someone to duel Utena she wins the duel and Black Rose gets rid of them by the way they're not dying right? Who were they burning after the duel?
I kept wondering this.
If they keep fighting these pointless duels I'll have to lower my score.

Okay, sexual innuendos were really strong in this ep, you'd have to be blind to miss any of them xD

Despite being the 4th episode in a row to use this formula it's by far my favorite. Jury is my favorite character but both Tsuwabuki and Miki's sister had the most interesting development and progression as a character when aligned with their respective arcs. I just hope the story now moves forward.
With the exception of some unnecessary fillers, this series has been nothing but greatness.

While it's true that the formula is repetitive for the 4 black rose episodes, it's understandable why - each episode dives more deeply into the feelings of one main character and one supporting character. It's obvious that the formula will come to an end soon - all of the student council members got their swords drawn out of them.

Also, what happened with Nanami's visit to Souji's "seminar"? Is it important? They kinda went away together and that's all.
