It was a great season and now the quest to be NBA champions is here. There are many good teams in it this year, and although many people are penciling in two teams to face off in the finals anything can happen. This thread is for talking anything and everything that is the NBA playoffs.

First Day action:

Bulls def Celtics 105-103 OT
No KG for he C's really changes the complexion of the Eastern Conference, now I'm not sure if they'll even be able to get past the first round, especially with Ray Allen struggling again to start the playoffs. The game was an exciting one though, and Derrick Rose had quite the playoff debut.

Cavaliers def Pistons 102-85
How far the Pistons have fallen, I'm going to say that that 6 straight Eastern Conference Finals appearances is in jeopardy. Lebron and the Cavs just handled the Pistons.

Mavericks def Spurs 105-97
This one was a nail biter and the Mavs were able to outlast the Spurs. Without Ginobli, who I feel is the biggest scoring threat in the playoffs, I can't see the Spurs getting past the second round.

Rockets @ Blazers (ongoing)
I feel that this is the best matchup in the first round, these are two fun teams to watch. Right now the Rockets are taking it two the Blazers, not something done easily in Portland. They have no answer for Yao. Portland's youth and lack of playoff experience will show in this series, but Houston hasn't been able to make it out of the first round, so who knows how this one will go.

I, myself bleed purple and gold. I've been feeling good all season and I hope I will feel great in a month and a half or so.

First Round predictions
West:
Lakers in 5
Spurs in 7
Nuggets in 6
Houston in 7

East:
Cavaliers in 4
Celtics in 6
Magic in 5
Hawks in 6

AHH! As a Portland resident and a Blazer fan, my heart was thoroughly ripped out not long ago... The Blazers did terribly, nothing like the usual. I hope they step up their game in the second game.

Haha, don't I wish? I'll be satisfied if they make it to the second round. Of course, that loss to Dallas on wednesday could prove very costly, since the Lakers would be waiting for them (is anyone seriously betting on the Jazz, I wonder?).

Great game tonight, though. I was not expecting a blowout, especially on the road. It's just too bad they have to play the Blazers, as aside from the Rockets, they're probably my favorite team this season. I was hoping to see them go far in the playoffs, but not against the Rockets.

Damn Mavs.

I didn't expect that kind of effort from the Blazers regardless of their age, that arena is sure a though place to play as the Lakers have come to know (no victories there in like 5 years). But the Blazers need to double Yao and hope the shooters miss shots, Pryzbila isn't athletic enough to try to front him.

Even though I live in Ohio I'm routing for LA. If they meet the Cavs in the Finals I hope they stomp them in to the ground. They might not even make it to the Finals if they play Orlando.

I want LA or Houston to win it all.

As Far as the First roud goes.

West:
Lakers in 6
Houston in 6(or 5)
Hornets in 6 or 7
Dallas in 6

East:
Boston in 6
Orlando in 5
Cavs in 6(I hope they lose)
Hawks in 6

I think if Boston somehow loses to Chicago, Orlando is going to the Finals.

The Lakers have a much tougher road to get the the Finals than the crappy Cavs. :|

Yao is a big problem, and I think Przybilla can take down him... Przybilla is the Blazers best defender and the only one of them that can come close to shutting down Yao. The problem last night wasn't just Yao, but the fact that the Blazers were not playing good, their defense was weak and no one was taking shots on the Blazer side... I mean Fernandez didn't make even one three point, which he averages at least one a game, hell he broke the rookie record for most three point shots in one game.

They didn't show enough thirst in what was many of the players' first playoff game. But Yao pretty much took them out of the game early, I mean they moved Aldridge on him to change up his look, and there is no way that his body is even close to big enough to guard Yao. I expect Roy to come out pretty early in the next game, look for him to have 30 and 10+ assists.

i honestly think LeBron and the Cavs have been doing incredible. But i would pick Lakers to win the championship. LeBron is fast and he may keep up with Kobe but the lakers down-low game is too dominate and i can probably talk about this for days. Neither one is my favorite. :\ (my team didn't make the playoff's) But my predictions so far are:

Western Conference:
Lakers - 4
Hornets - 5 or 6 Probably..
Spurs - 7
Blazers - 7

Eastern Conference:
Cavs - 4
Celtics - 7 or maybe 6.
Orlando - 4
Heat - 7

(P.S.: i picked the blazers (even though they got destroyed yesterday) because they're a young/(unexperienced) but good team and i.m.o. i think they can get to the conf. finals.) >.>

Yao shot 100%.
Yeah, I expect Roy to come out pretty early as well. The loss of this game will hopefully push the Blazers to play harder on Tuesday.

Derrick Rose man. You just know he's going to be something special in a few years, and he, CP3 and D-Will will be the premier three point guards of the league.

The only game I'm looking forward to tonight is the Atlanta/Miami matchup. Let's see if D-wade can carry his team into the second round.

^Atlanta/Miami is the only game that I'm looking forward to also. Although the Philly/Orlando game has been close the whole time.

Derrick Rose is a blur and I believe he will make himself a fixture among the elite point guards in the league, he needs to put work on the jump shot though in the off-season.

And the Lakers did work, solid contributions from everyone who got on the court.

Andre with a GIANT shot for Philly after missing two big free throws.

I'm more bummed about Mutombo than the loss. He's one of (if not the) biggest class acts in the league, and this will probably be his last season. To end his career with an injury in the playoffs.. I feel really bad for the guy. And I think that demoralized the team somewhat.. They're going to miss his leadership and moral support going forward.

Also, the officiating was just horrid, and I'm talking against both sides. Let them play, dammit.
