Have you read or watched an anime or a manga that is based on a fairytale?
Was it good?
Would you mind sharing some worthy mentioned titles with us?

I've read many mangas that were based or inspired by fairytales but they weren't all romantic. The best romantic manga based on a fairytale*or a bunch of fairytales I should say* is Grimm Stories. I liked the twists the author added to the fairytales and how there was no evil in them. I thought it was very refreshing.

Yes.
Grimms Manga is the best I've seen.
I'm afraid other adaptations I've seen for fairytales fall short.

Um, well, Princess Tutu is not really based on one specific fairy tale, but has many fairy tales within it. It would have to be one of my favorite anime ever. I love the integration of reality/fantasy within the series.

Found another one which seems rather interesting.
http://www.mangafox.com/manga/swan_lake/
It's set in modern day Japan and revolves around four girls who happen to have similar characteristics as the characters in the mentioned fairytales.
I'm about to read it.

Hey don't bother with Swan Lake manga it was a mess. I only liked the first story.

I would recommend Cinderella Monogatari.

One of the best anime adaptions of a fairytale. It features awesome and original twists such as Prince Charles switching roles with his servant in order to keep a low profile and Cinderella's daily adventures. The anime gives depth to both characters and the original story so instead of the prince falling in love with Cinderella because of her appearance and vice versa, they fall in love with each other after knowing more about each other.

Speaking of Swan Lake, there's also Swan Lake's old movie which is available on youtube. You guys should give it a watch. It might be slow but still a classic.
