Happy to see Teekyuu3 keeping the 2K+ sales level. Bonus episode 2 added an on-screen written season 4 hint in addition to the hint in dialogue in episode 12's final line.

Glad No-rin ED is selling well. It is fun that they included clean and concert versions of cordless telephone and duet and solo versions of fruit girls.

I wish fhana divine intervention Witch Craft Works OP had sold better. Perhaps they sell more on iTunes?

I thought that it was rather weak, even worse if it came with an event ticket.

I'm surprised. On terrestrial channels, Gatchaman Crowds was aired only in the Kantou region. Even though it was local programming, it seems to be selling well.

Well compared to most shows this Fall even with event tickets, it's doing quite ok. And volume 4+ looks like it will average 3k which is by no means a loss for the company. Plus it got a good manga boost.

It was very cheap though, so it sales are actually rather low.

Not that it matters, we already got a 2nd season anyway.

We've had quite a bit of talk recently about seasons that don't have anything hit 20k, but when was the last time we had a season where nothing hit 10k?
Bestselling light novel volumes of the year/all time* (and more in the same club including weekly series ranks etc). <-- No longer being updated. Sorry.

Its still early, unless Chuu2 S2 has a huge sequel drop, it'll hit 10k.

Its looking like a rather bad season, but its still really early. Nobunaga the fool hasen't even been week for 1 week yet. Sakura trick for only 9~ days. etc..
It however seems possible to be a season that does not have any v1's of non-sequels hit 10k. Even last autumn had 2(maybe 3) of those.

Teekyuu season 4 still hasn't had an official greenlight announcement but the cast says "continued in season 4" at the end of episode 12 and it is on screen, in writing at the end of the 2nd bonus episode on the season 3 Bluray so if it doesn't happen then it will be one of those annoying cases where the anime itself 'announces' it but it doesn't happen.

Given that the sales of Teekyuu have essentially held steady for 3 seasons and there are only 21 minutes of actual new content per season, I don't see why we wouldn't get season 4. Still lots of manga to cover as season 3 went up to chapter 36 and there are already about 60 chapters or 5 seasons of anime worth of manga written.

There are events on February 9th and 11th and I would not be surprised to get a proper season 4 announcement then.

I am so Happy for Arpeggio to be doing so well and yet i am completly suprised that only that,, infinite stratos 2 and non non biyori would be above the 10k line. I tought others such as kill La Kill would be that high too altoguh it is close.

Unbreakable Machine doll well it's not that bad so i a m happy for it.

Walkure Romanze yeah i was expecting that low of sales that series just seemed to have lost focus on what it was aiming for.

Noucome a bit a of a shame it was quite a good comedy and it deserved more.

Really only at 4.2k estimate for Log Horizon i would have tought it would be higher well at that number is still good enough especially considering this show was made by NHK and is goverment sponsored so in its case the sales area a bonus.

Surprised to see these shows so far up the charts, but it definitely makes me happy for NNB. Gives me hope for a second season.

I realise these estimates are very early but wow, I honestly wouldn't have expected any estimates for Space Dandy to come in that low, especially when considering that pretty much all the other animes around Space Dandy are mostly generic animes that just a different title from season to season (like your standard "Long Imouto Title"), or just downright bad like PuPa.

Indeed it is! I love the Yukatan concert version of Cordless★Tele★Phone! The artwork is nice too and the Call Book is fun.

fhana "divine intervention" is great too, especially the LASTTRAK "Firestarter" remix!

I'm also happy to see Gatchaman Crowds up there and hoping S2 will do well too.

I didn't know Tonari-Seki kun's album CD is out too. Also seeing Love Live up there gets me hyped for S2.

Unfortunately when you compare it to a sister show also by Kadokawa Sneaker Bunco and Diomedea, Mondaji tachi (Problem Children), I don't think so which is too bad.

Mondaiji-tachi ga Isekai Kara Kuru Sou Desu yo? 2013 Winter 1,934

It sold almost twice as much, the novels sold WAAAAY more, like 500,000 copies last year and yet it hasn't got a second season.

I love both novel series and anime series and have bought both of both but I don't have much hope for a second season.

A 10 episode series + OVA bundled with a novel just screams "novel advertisement". I don't think they ever thought about doing a second season of either.

do you guys think that this is enough for a second season?

Pretty much this unfortunately.

It seems rather strange that Chuu2 S2 is doing so badly, with it ranking in the mid 300#'s.

Is it? It seemed quite obvious to me it would struggle even before the season began.

Well, I projected it would sell less than 5k before the season (Jmal can confirm this) because I felt that the backlash from Free would impact the otaku oriented series from KyoAni. There have been lots of people on 2ch and other Japanese sites saying they wouldn't support KyoAni anymore.

Going by its current trend, it will still atleast reach 6k+ in its first week.

But we'll see in a few weeks, while I do have a few doubts about it reaching 10k, butI'm at-least confident it will reach 6k.
I don't think Free! affected anything, I don't think many people are crazy enough to stop buying things they like just because the studio made something they don't like.

So far Chuu2 Ren is good but not as good as season one IMO. The magic isn't there just yet. Hopefully it can match or surpass the first season but that is tough to follow such a good first season. I am not surprised by its presales prediction so far.

I posted this somewhere else, so I might as well post it here. Its for those wondering how well Gatchaman crowds sold. I must note that it did already get a 2nd season, and that it had good ratings on TV. So sales are not really a big factor for this series.

Nourin(used at random to represent your typical 6 BD/1 cour series) - 6 * 5508 yen - 33048 yen
Gatchaman crowds - 14607 yen.

So less than 1/2th of the normal price. Or 56% less than normal, to be exact. So it made as much revenue(from BD's/DVD's) as a normal 1-cour series that sold around 2.8-2.9k~ BD's/DVD's.

Does anime need to be saved? Again? Ooh the tragedy!

Seriously though- if Chu2byou Ren sells 'badly' compared to its prequel, then because of its quality, and not some arbitrary crap about Free affecting sales.

I was just looking at points for some of the stuff releasing this week and while I wasn't looking. Little Busters! Refrain actually ended up with more Stalker points in the end than s1v1 had, if only slightly. It was really underperforming season one earlier in the solicitation period and I then stopped watching it. But now it's looking in a much better position. If it's as underestimated as season one was (43.0% BD and 29.1% DVD) then there's really no reason to expect Refrain to drop at all. Predicting underestimation is hard but it's been very strong at Gamers and Softmap like season one was.

Maybe it'll get around 10k again after all.
Check the dailies, look where NNB v2 is and LB!R v1 is... NNB v2 is above it on pre-release day. LB!R is likely heavy storefront but NNB was too in v1. I hope it's because we're going to get a 10K v2wk1 for NNB ...

I doubt it, but it'd be nice to have another all-girl SoL reach a 10k average, it has been a while since we had one.

It's amusing yet depressing how as soon as this studio comes into the picture, wacked-out conspiracy theories are accepted as normal whereas in any other situation nobody would claim such a thing. Like, we don't need to seek out weird meta reasons for why Milky Holmes or Nyaruko or Ikamusume or Hayate no Gotoku or Infinite Stratos or Magi all took steep dives, we just sensibly accept that it happens sometimes, because fans move on or a show loses its charm or people just don't like it as much.

The difference is that KyoAni is a brand, similar to Nintendo. They're not just some anime studio that production committees contract out to do their work like a lot of other studios. People feel loyalty to a brand more. You've seen same kinda thing happening in the video game industry, with Nintendo paying for their mistake by appealing to different audiences and now many of their long time fans have abandoned them.
