| Poor girl. I don't see this as a happy chapter. Here she is throwing her heart out there, and he doesn't understand her. He coincidentally says the proper response, but that isn't what he meant. In other romancy stories that is fine and fun, but this story has very broken people in it. I don't know how well they can handle this. She also opens herself up by trying to communicate with him in his realm of discourse by talking, but her lack of hearing is a major hindrance to her speaking ability. He also seems a bit taken aback by it. On top of all of this he despises himself. He isn't even thinking of the possibility of her liking him. He is struggling with making her a true friend and can't even see their relationship that far. When I was reading this it felt like all of the things that make you smile or giggle were tainted. |
