This series kinda flirts with love being a desire for self-destruction, a sort of deathwish. And conversely, love is also a desire to devour. Which are interesting ideas to play around with. But that all quickly gets lost in the not so well thought out world, and the antics of an absurdly comic villain. I think there's also stuff about discipline and uncontrollable animalistic desire (and how that fuels 'rational' human organization) thrown in as well. But, I'm not really sure what the show is 'about.' Well, putting all the bullshit aside, it's basically a twisted love story with a below average couple that turns into a typical save the world scenario by the end (another doomsday plot where everybody becomes 'the same.'). The art style and quirkiness made for a good time though, like at least it was never boring. It's dumb, gimmicky and mostly nonsense. But still fun.

Bruh!?

ok, the show was unique from start to finish, ooba was the most annoying villain that I've ever encountered in anime.

it's a 7/10 for me

9/10 for Me. I was really feeling a 10/10 till the last few episodes. They made Ooba a little too wacky and not monster like, But I guess it shows directors/ animators creativity. I definitely will re-watch this in the future.

That was one of the most trippiest things I've ever watched. Loved it. I'm still so confused on how to rate this. It was fucking awful for 2 episodes, and then decent for some episodes, and then amazing for some episodes, and then a fucking masterpiece for the last few episodes. This is the most confused I've ever been in rating things. Well I'll give it an 8/10 for now.

Eps 1 - 6 = 8/10.
Eps 7 - 8 = 3/10.
Eps 9 - 10 = 8/10.
Eps 11 - 13 = 9.5/10.

Total = supposedly 7.1 but I'll give it a 7.8. If Eps 7 and 8 weren't so shit, this anime would have been a definitive 9.

Well that was sh** what a horrible ending the first 5 episodes of This anime were actually good but it became wierder and nonsensical the more i watched it,many characters didn't get any development i don't even know anything about the villain motivation the actions of many characters were stupid and the animation went to shit in the final parte etc.overall i can't recommend This series, final Score: 4/10.

The series was incredibly strong when focusing on Toshihiko's and Yuka's relationship. The plot on the other hand wasn't all that interesting especially toward the end. Visuals were amazing as expected. This really had the potential for a 10/10, I'll still give it an 8/10.

Wow that was one of the weirdest anime episode I've ever seen I do not care about the plot anymore to be honest I was just enjoying how trippy the visuals could get they somewhat beat Ooba and married in the end and kissing while sky diving not bad at all that sure was an interesting experience xD

Quite bizzare and suddenly the quality drop in several last episode, don't know it was intentional or what but it quite enjoyable and have a good ending was a plus, well rie dead is quite a draw back for me

I'm surprised Yuasa made something this bad between Mind Game and Kaiba.

That was a pretty romantic ending, not gonna lie.

Although as for the rest of the show, I'm not really sure how I feel about it. It has its moments and there was some genuinely fun moments, especially early on but I feel like the series lost some of its lighthearted nature later on. I didn't really care about the romance or the final plot. Ooba could've been more understandable if they just showed him feeling underappreciated or jealous of his standing in the Kikuufen Triumvirate, especially with respect to Harumi.

It was interesting to watch for me but not really particularly memorable.

What a mess. It seems like the writer had the same affliction as the protagonist - shitting his pants at the climax. Is this whole anime a metaphor for fecal incontinence?
