Interim patch that fixes sarroush's problems is up. It doesn't translate anything more than patch 2, so there's no need to grab it if your patch is already working.

But if you're new, or you've been unable to get patch 2 to work, http://www.mediafire.com/?n1aisdmjnem

I've found a volunteer translator, so a version that translates more of the game will appear in the future.

Must have accidentally clicked on the password button. (Fixed now)

As for what's translated, look at my post with the images on the previous page.

The translation is still in progress, and I've picked up a second translator.

Well, one translator has Christmas break and should be working on it. As for video editing, nobody has translated any of the videos, so there's nothing for you to do yet.

This is excellent work!
I thank you from the bottom of my heart XD

Quick question:

I saw you earlier edit of Hanyuu's textures
I assume that they can be edited in Photoshop and the like, but where do you go to access the character's textures?

You need to extract the relevant images from daybreak04.dat, edit them, and reinsert.

Alright, do I need a particular program to extract/reinsert the files?

There's no publicly available program; I had to work out the file format on my own and write my own extracter / inserter. What sort of modification do you want to do?

To be honest, there are a lot modifications that I'd like to make to the game XP, but for now all I'd like to do is edit the character's textures. So I need a way to extract the texture files so I can edit them in my painting program.

...I'm redundant -_-

Which textures do you want to change, and how do you want to change them? I can only repaint the existing models, but not change the physical construction; Anne Onnymous doesn't have a bow on her dress, but I couldn't remove it, only paint it to match her dress.

Sorry, my terminology is poor.

I'm not trying to physically reconstruct the character's models, I just want to be able to paint over their textures (clothing, skin, hair etc). Like what you did with Hanyuu.

I need access to the textures, which I'm guessing are in a picture file format (eg. gif) so that I can make the changes in Photoshop, and save them back into their respective folders.

Probably Rena.
I'd like to add little extra details to the characters, like painting blood on weapons and such.

Alright I have a problem. It was going to happen eventually. So I downloaded the game, mounted it from powerISO, used the installer and installed the game. Downloaded the patch from this site and the translator(YES TRANSLATOR THANK YOU!~) and then when I go to start the game it says d3dx9_25.dll is missing reinstalling the game would help. So I go download the .dll then put it in the folder. Start up the game and it says the game crashed. Any help?

d3dx9_25.dll is Direct 3D. Get it from Microsoft's site.

It may not work if you download only one file (d3dx9_25.dll). You may need to install complete DirectX 9.0c, that comes with the game as sometimes, even though you have new build (e.g. 9.0c 4.09.0000.0904), the game needs some file that are only in some older build (e.g. 9.0c 4.09.0000.0802).

First update in some time.

The big news is that, thanks to WarriorKK, Team Twins (Mion / Shion) is fully translated.

http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?cnqmntwzqjc (Main patch)
http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?hmwwjmtxdzu (Subbed Mion / Shion ending video, optional)
http://www.megaupload.com/?d=4KW400RW (Subbed Prologue, optional)

Lesser news is that other language patches are now possible; there's a Vietnamese patch that does Team Twins (link on http://rogerpepitone.blogspot.com/ or http://rogerpepitone.blogspot.com/rss.xml ). If you want to work on translating Daybreak into any other language, drop me a message.

Obviously, you're going to need the optional videos if you want to see the pre-rendered cutscenes in English.

Does the main patch install okay? Do you have plenty of disk space?

Try this patcher instead: http://www.mediafire.com/download.php?mzyyxmwtnnz
What response does it give?

(Note to everybody else who's downloading this file: It's the same as the perform-patch.exe that is included in daybreak-en.zip, but with slightly better error reporting.)

Just to make sure we're on the same wavelength, you're starting the program and it crashes before you do anything else, right?

I have no experience with Windows 7, so I have no idea what's wrong, so this'll be a broad attempt:

First, go to http://www.microsoft.com/whdc/devtools/debugging/default.mspx
Click on "Install debugging tools for 32-bit windows" (assuming you have 32 bit windows).

Next, run WinDBG. From WinDBG, select perform-patch.exe (if possible, use the version I linked in post #51) and run it. If it runs correctly, that's great.

Otherwise:
- Choose view->stack trace. If it has any useful information, try to make the window big enough to show everything.
- Choose view->memory. Type @esp into the text bar of the memory window. Set the memory window to "Long Hex". Make that window the height of the computer screen.
- Choose view->registers. Make that window wide enough to show the text, as tall as the screen, and scroll it to the top.
- Choose view->disassembly.

Arrange those windows (information in earlier windows is more useful to me, so put those on top), take a screenshot, and email that to me.

After many failed attempts (months) of trying to get the latest translation patch to work, hey-presto! I finally get it working ^_^

It turns out that the zlib1.dll file that came with the daybreak-en package was older than the one I already had in my Daybreak directory, so essentially I was continuously replacing my zlib1.dll file with an outdated copy XP

And here I thought it was because I was using Windows 7

I'm having trouble with the optional patches. I'm running Windows 7, and the game plays fine and the translation patch works perfectly for the menus, but I'm not seeing anything different in the opening videos and the Team Twins ending. The patcher told me the update was successful, but maybe I'm missing something. Any ideas?

Hmm, well i can get the game to run perfectly on vista but I can't seem to make use of this English patch at all. I put all the necessary files in the directly and run the patch file (Satoko icon) and click Apply Patch, but the issue is nothing happens. No progress, no errors. It lists every patchz file in the directly though but I can't seem to use any of them.

Normally I can get just about anything to run on this computer but this patch has me stumped. I'm playing the game fine straight out of the install (patched to 1.11 too for DX).

Edit: I had this fixed almost asap but the forum broke or something so I couldn't even see the post until recently.

I know these posts are from a while ago, but could I request a repaint of a character? I'd like to have Akasaka in a black and white suit, similar to how he looked like during one of the flashbacks. Let me know if that's possible please. If not, just ignore me XD

@DeadlyBoredom

That can be arranged, but you'll need to provide me with a screenshot of Akasaka in that suit, because I don't remember what it looks like

Sorry for the extended delay, but I've had severe computer problems.

Run perform-patch.exe,
*** then click on the name of the patch in the upper window (description of patch appears at bottom) ***
Click "Apply Patch"

Do that for each .patchz.
