For some reason, Sentai Filmworks hasn't picked up season 2 and 3 of Zero no Tsukaima but they picked up season 4 and then season 1 when the license for FUNimation went away...is there a reason why they haven't touched the other 2 seasons? Was it to prevent helping FUNimation get more sales for season 1 or what? It makes no sense and it leaves a GIGANTIC plot/story gap. I can't recall the last time a licensing company completely skipped over a season, let alone 2.

We're just anime fans we don't have inside company info. Go ask Sentai.

I can only surmise that whoever owns the Japanese copyright for seasons 2 and 3 is asking for more money than Sentai wants to pay for them.

You and I both know anime licensing companies never talk about things like that, so don't grandstand. I am simply here asking what others may think is the reason, I am not expecting an exact answer from an inside source in Sentai Filmworks(though there could likely be one, Sentai isn't Area 51 after all). It is nothing new to this website.

One would think season 1 would be more expensive than 2 and 3. I highly doubt that is the reason. It would be a dumb business move on the company that owns the rights to the show to charge higher prices for 2 and 3 but not 1 and 4 and it would be a dumb move for Sentai Filmworks to ignore it over prices. Besides, Sentai has never been one to shy away from a romantic anime over the price.

Because they're fucking Sentai Filmworks.

You're aware that Sentai was born from the ashes of ADV, right? Making stupid decisions is the core of their operating principles.
