I accept the random friend request. But I would prefer if we talk a bit first. Also, is there a limit to how many friends I can have on my list? Because if it does have a limit I may have to take these random friend request into consideration.

I feel like going to friend request all those who feel sad about not getting any.

Exactly, and who knows, you might end up becoming good friends. Worst case scenario is you don't like them and remove them. EZ PZ.

[center][size=90]Random friend requests? Fine by me! Let's chat.
I always accept any friend requests, and then go to the user's profile to say "hi" and bring up some topic to talk about.
Some conversations end up dying off...but I still try to stop by their pages every so often and talk for a bit! And I really do enjoy getting friend requests from anyone ^^

Is it such a big deal? I joined MAL 4-5 days ago, and I am too shy to send anyone a FR, but I wouldn't mind at all if someone sends me one.

It's just the Internet. Nobody really cares about how many friends you have on your lis or whatever.

Plus, as a person who used to send ransom friend requests a couple of years ago, I can tell you that a lot of these people do this because they're not sure what to say and doing this usually makes the person getting the request go 'who're you?' and then they can carry a conversation. Kind of lame, but there it is.

I don't accept them. It annoys me when someone with whom I have never talked to before sends me a FR.

Pretty much this. I only add friends I know I'll be able to have discussions with.

"Who are you ?" is a pretty shitty way to start a conversation.

As for me, i don't accept them, unless they leave at least one message first. I recently unfriended everyone who i rarely/never talk to.

So I see people who put in their profile: "I refuse random friend requests".

Got me wondering why? What's the big deal? Is there something they can see/access differently if they are in your friends list? Is there a friend limit?

What's your take?

I have that. Why? Because it's a waste of time and a little of an annoyance.

I get a bunch of request showing up and then i have to check them to get that orange thingy disappear from next to my profile.

It's a bunch of people i don't even know. I find their behavior strange. They never even talked to me and suddenly they are sending me friend request and all that. They don't even leave a message on what they saw and liked enough to make them send such request.
Just a request out of nowhere. Strange shit.

To be honest i don't even know why i have those friends i have on my profile. I am thinking of deleting all of them. Is not that i have any problem with them. It's just that the feature seems pointless to me.
I mean if you want to be friendly with me you can just try to talk to me. And if we can have lot's we can talk and nice conversations and enjoy each others messages then i guess we will remember each other right? Like people do in reality.
So what is the need to put that person in a friend list? I already know who that person is because i had nice conversations with him/her and i remember who they are. I shouldn't' need to look at a friends list to remember them right?
In the real world people that we call friends are at least people you enjoy the company of and remember. I doubt you consider your self friends with someone you can't even remember very well.

I get these so often that I stop sending messages to people explaining why I don't accept them.

Now I just decline immediately without thinking about it.

Lol, right. Unless you grew up with the person, most of the people in your life were at one time strangers. If you become too picky and closed off, you'll never meet anyone new.

I only accepted them when I first joined
now I prefer a little conversation first, so most of the times I first send them a message and if they reply in a normal way I accept them

Well it's a bit weird when someone you've never seen before sends you a friend request.

I don't accept them, simple as that.
If I've never spoken to you and I have no clue who you are, why the hell would I want you as a "friend"?
