..And so the old man died. A nice, strangely relaxing chapter that marks the wonderful conclusion of this little arc. Next stop: The preparations for the final duel!

Well, the rice farming arc comes to an end. The grumpy but wise old farmer dies, and its time for Musashi to move on. Musashi went through a lot of spiritual and philosophical growth during his year with farming, plus his leg healed up. That scene with the dragonflies flying over the rice paddies was awesome.

Finally to Kakura, can't wait to the long waited duel.
Anyway, it was a nice arc after all, I don't complain.
Phylosophical talk and a lot of character development, couldn't ask for more.

I've tried this series before and only read up to chapter 14. I tried it again a few days ago and now I'm here. This arc has to be one of the best things I've read! Any news on when the next one will be released?

"Urushibara Ruka. The mannerisms and voice of a woman... No... More feminine than any woman. But he's a guy. Taller than Mayuri, but so very thin... But he's a guy. Looks great in a miko outfit... But he's a guy. It's already twilight And yet, it's so hot. The cicadas are crying. But... He's a guy."

Those few pages of Shusaku speaking to Iori and then seeing Iori's Dad and realizing he'd passed on really hit me hard.
It was beautifully done and a great end to an arc that could come off as boring to some but to me, it had a lot of meaning about survival and companionship.

Man, that was a damned good arc. Musashi showed incredible development, the villagers as well. They despised Musashi at first and were selfish from the depths of their hearts, but now they've transformed into earnest hard workers that can cultivate their own food without reliance on someone else. Even with Shusaku's absence, the future doesn't look so bleak for them anymore.

This is all of Vagabond that I will read for now, at the completion of an arc.
I do not want to stop in the middle of an arc, I made that mistake with Act-Age so thus.

That was one of the most well executed death I have ever seen. Every single panel are simply breathtaking.
Still really curious about Shuhsaku's past.

And so the Farming Arc comes to an end! What a beauty that was and perhaps it might be the best Arc in Vagabond!
Musashis growth together with the growth of the villageres was amazing!
The way this chapter was handled was a pure masterclass by Inoue-Sensei!
Shusakus passing is tragic but the kind of beauty Inoue turned it into was just a masterclass by this mangaka! Them looking over Shusakus body followed by the dragonflys flying over the rice fields, thats art.
The time has come for Musashi to leave and head to Kokura for his final part of his journey!
Volume 37 overall was top 3 out of all Vagabond Volumes, hell might even be the best. I really can't believe the beauty that I have witnessed in these 20 chapters of farming, good damn!
I truly am stunlocked by how good Vagabond is, like damn how do you top that?
Thus I have arrieved at the "last 5 chapters", Kokura I am coming! I hope that this Musashi will return to the village one day, he has finally earned himself a place!

PEAK chapter. Shusaku seeing Musashi smile was heartwarming. Smile more!

Shusaku's arc was just so well done, he was first an outcast that didnt share any soil but ended up encouraging teamwork to help the farm (in which companionship ended up working to the farm's favor). Seeing him hallucinate Iori's father while talking to Iori was sad, I just knew something was gonna happen. Shusaku looking at his corpse hit me way too hard.

Shit man, I started crying with them too. This panel wasn't in the fan translations for some reason but luckily I happened to read the viz version.

Peak arc in general, I enjoyed it alot. I loved seeing the once incompetent farmers gradually open up to Musashi, do teamwork, and end up creating a bright future for the farm. To me, it seems that Musashi is more at peace with himself now. He learned alot fr. Seems like Iori is coming with Musashi too to the final arc (which isn't gonna be completed in my lifetime)
