There is an application for apple products called "AdBlock for iOS"
I have not used it myself, since I am not really bothered by advertisements and rarely go on my phone to use MAL, but based off the rating it has on the app store, it works really well.

i actually used that. it's alright, if ads are seriously a problem. thing is, it's a separate browser

That is how any site can pay its fees. In general you don't pay anything for using the site. Site's won't pay out of their own pockets. It is either a good donation base like how Wikipedia collects millions each year from donation or ads.

I don't even think these ads pay MAL that much either. Youtube is filled with ads, my gmail is filed with ads thanks to Google, not to mention intruding and violating my privacy to match ads based on the email i receive and read.
Feel free to add me to your friend list!

I'm not complaining about ads

I'm complaining about a shitty ad that will probably give you a computer virus. But I haven't seen it for a while, so I guess it's gone...?

If you don't want to keep seeing annoying ads especially those that cover the top part of the page get the best friend AdBlock, it removes ads and you'll never see those pesky ads. Also I wouldn't click on them if I were you, some may be scams.

Not quite.
Crave chooses the ad providers (Google, Double Click, ...), but those providers decide which ads they will slam on.
If Crave wants an ad changed, they must report that to their current provider. But for that to happen, we must first report to Crave, yeah.
